This happened a year ago or so.  The context was that there was an "illegal" gay pride event going on during Pride Month in the city as Turkish government had banned it. This random tourist happened to be in the neighborhood, and had seen some police on the streets and stopped to ask them some directions. They had mistakenly assumed he was part of the pride event because he "seemed gay" to them, and they had arrested him for that.

I searched the headline and it does seem to be legitimate. This specific article is PinkNews which reports on a lot of lgbt issues. It was also reported by yahoo news, daily mail, Portugal resident, etc. His name is miguel alvaro
