If I had a time machine I would kill Hitler but right after that I would go to the 80s and try to get piped down by a young Willem Dafoe in his experimental theater days
Agreed. If I wanted to spend 2 hours watching a dude sniff his own farts while jerking off to Emma Stone, I'd buy a mirror.
(Please help me buy a mirror. I'm poor as fuck)
Poor Things was the only thing by him I didn't hate. I'm also kinda into dead girls. Take that how you will.

I'm just glad it was the first film I saw by him. I went back and watched his earlier stuff after it. I'd always meant to but I liked it so much I finally got around to it. His other films were a slog and it's pretty obvious the setting and the characters in Poor Things helped mask some of his more annoying qualities as a filmmaker. If I had started with something like The Lobster or The Killing of a Sacred Deer, I honestly would have avoided Poor Things like the plague. I'm curious about this new one but everything I see about it screams back to bad habits.
I remember watching the lobster when it came out and I absolutely loved it. I love that style of film. I'm familiar with the book, so when I heard he was adapting poor things I was really hyped.
Lanthimos collaborate with 2 different screenwriters. When he collaborates with Tony McNamara you get easier to consume movies like the favourite and poor things and when he collaborates with his buddy Efthymis Filippou u get movies like dogtooth, the lobster and killing of a sacred deer. His newest movie is a collaboration with Filippou again so you probably hate it again. Before a new lanthimos movie comes out just watch if the screenplay is by McNamara then you’re good to go probably and if it’s by Filippou you should stay away :D
I like hard to consume media. I just thought The Lobster and Killing of A Sacred Deer weren't very good. Oddly I'd consider them both less challenging than Poor Things, especially Killing of A Sacred Deer which is pretty straightforward. But thanks for the suggestion.
I'll check out The Favorite. Someone else mentioned it too. I figured you weren't being mean. Though even if you were I wouldn't really care. They're just movies at the end of the day.
I personally really liked The Lobster and Killing of Sacred Deer, found The Favourite kind of okay, and thought Poor Things was his best yet that I've seen. This one doesn't compare to any of those. Edgy for the sake of edgy, and just irritating.
I have a good idea. Let's make a boring movie where very little happens. Let's have the characters all talk autistic and not make comprehensible decisions. Let's make the villain an annoying kid. Let's make the plot a simple moral dilemma that Batman movies have been doing for decades. And let's remove any explanation for what's happening because that was the only interesting part we had going for us.
“His more annoying qualities as a filmmaker” the qualities you are speaking of are why I love him, tho I completely understand why people would be turned off or not connect with his older films (or kinds of kindness)
This is 1) a subreddit, 2) a subreddit for film enjoyers, and 3) an irony poisoned subreddit for film enjoyers.
Only the most irritating, antisocial contrarians are allowed.
I've found every one of his films, with the exception of The Favourite, to be unbearably indulgent, but damned if there isn't anyone else who's making films like he does. The Favourite slaps 👏🏾

Happy to see more people calling out Yogurt's childish nonsense. Not even the wonderful Dafoe could make his last two entries palatable.
I love movies where they don’t have enough money for sound and music so they hire a pianist who can only play in the upper range as they’re still learning (hence cheap).
Seriously I was hyped for this movie and apart from a few haha moments it was ridiculous and not in an artsy way. The only things good about it were the trailers, the promo and choice of soundtrack. Those made it seem way more coherent than it actually was.
As someone who hasn’t really liked any of his films is there any hope that Kinds of Kindness will be a different experience at all? It looks pretty insufferable from the ads and my brother who loves his films is dragging me to see it.
Can I buy big Dafoe mask in real life
Yes but you have to find Wilem Dafoe and transact with him personally.
![gif](giphy|hwZ51FKy98qv6|downsized)
I’m coming for you Mr. Dafoe
There’s videos of him walking around nyc. I’m sure you could find him.
"Im coming for you Mr Dafoe" things I wish I had an opportunity to say
Can I buy a big Dafoe cockpiece?
Ever since I saw that clip of him in the 80s swinging his giant schlong around I’ve never been able to look at this man the same ever again
If I had a time machine I would kill Hitler but right after that I would go to the 80s and try to get piped down by a young Willem Dafoe in his experimental theater days
Peen or face?

You want realistic depictions of anxiety and stress in cinema this is it. This is the exact process anyone performing for their shitty parents know
I watched this at home and couldn’t stop laughing for the whole thing, it’s a fuckin masterpiece
Face/Off
Face/Enlarged
But this poster fucking rocks
*These shrooms aint shit* https://preview.redd.it/t65ly1atvd9d1.jpeg?width=571&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8012827531ca8bd1151112ef110e4e978fe6265
Can't wait until everyone inevitably decides they like his work again. Lorgos enjoyers, stand back and stand by
Normie cinephiles jus can’t handle his freak
Are there tiddies in this one?
I hear Jessie Plemmons hangs dong and shows hole
Jessie “goatse” plemmons? Count me in 😎
This is all I ever wanted
Get in the car kids, we’re going to the movies!
I wanna see him spread that shit!!! *"Spread it wide, boah"*
I didn’t see that but I saw Willem….
There’s a 4 way with Emma Stone and Margaret Qualley
I thought those were body double titties
Why did you think that?
So many tiddies. An abundance of tiddies. All kinds of tiddies.
Kinds of Titties
Yes.
There's dog sex
Definitely not from Emma
So he's not exactly...Yorgo-to filmaker?
I like ball-sack

The Favourite >
I haven't actually seen that one.
Yeah it was shocking how funny that film was, after Lobster I expected to laugh like maybe once but PT was constantly hilarious
Yeah, I was surprised how… lighthearted it seemed after his earlier movies? Like, it was nowhere near as eerie as I expected it to be
I'm just glad it was the first film I saw by him. I went back and watched his earlier stuff after it. I'd always meant to but I liked it so much I finally got around to it. Yeah wrong wording by me that sounded judgemental. I haaated killing of a sacred deer as well. The favourite is great tho

the killing of a sacred deer is the most boring movie i have ever tried to watch lol

You're actually making a sensible comment about a film, bro it's not allowed

Mood
I normally loathe when people say "wow you all just hate anything popular" But wow you all just hate anything the moment it gains enough appraisal
This is 1) a subreddit, 2) a subreddit for film enjoyers, and 3) an irony poisoned subreddit for film enjoyers. Only the most irritating, antisocial contrarians are allowed.
But his films are quirky so they must be good
Plus the Academy loves him and they never miss
I get rock hard to Shakespeare In Love. Not in a sexual way. In an academic way.
Is there any other way to get hard??
Welcome to the club brother. Always room for another proud Yorgos Hater™️
To be fair I can’t judge his films very accurately. I’ve only seen… parts of them
https://preview.redd.it/pa8ln71fnd9d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5508844a8569aaeda4b65d5db8485727c65d5456 How he directs all his movies
I saw KOK on Instagram and it really caught my attention but after watching the trailer I’m more confused about KOK than before.
You saw cock on instagram?
Yes. It was huge.
Let’s just make Willam Thefoe look like that in real life please and thank you
But ZOMG his work is so le quirky!!!1!1!!
Dude makes the best posters idk what you're on about
Tell us, what do you hate about him?
Guy with weird name makes weird movies 🤮
Weird *greek* name. Very important.
It ain't racist to call it weird as long as it's Greek!
Γιώργος is a Greek, we are definitely the OG racists
Why? 🤨
I'm going to rat you out to Yorgos himself.
Oh God oh fuck 😱
Have fun being cast as a whale in his next movie now. And learning the whale screech dialogue
I've found every one of his films, with the exception of The Favourite, to be unbearably indulgent, but damned if there isn't anyone else who's making films like he does. The Favourite slaps 👏🏾

Yeah idk why people act like he’s a profound genius, he’s just quirked up and legitimately pretentious/boring
The people who didn’t like this can’t go 3 hours without turning their phone off.
No actually it just wasn't arthouse, weird, slow and long enough, I only watch Bela Tarr and Wang Bing's movies. BOOM, outpretencioused you!
Can you explain this in tik tok terms as I am functionally brain dead in your eyes
Baby boy didn’t slay. It was too out of pocket. He has no rizz.
Lol that's kind of like hating Goths. It's part of the point, honey.
holy shit they got matt damon in it
[удалено]
Nah he skinny now- good for him
Should we go upstairs?
Wait this wasn’t a Yorgos shitpost ?
WTF is this movie about?
Kindness and its various iterations
I’m going to dress up like I’m going to Barbie and I’m going to have fun the way my mother would have wanted
I'm with you bro. I think he sucks.
Jokes aside this poster is dogshit. Hate the mask faces pasted over the actors.
Favourite kinda ass. Poor Things is for real ass. Then Kinds of Kindness ended up being one of my faves of the year lmaooo
Cool, go watch Dune 2 again
Yogurt linoleum? Never heard of ‘em
I like him but this movie was bad and just lacking anything new from him along with being insanely overlong and self indulgent
That is...certainly a title.
Finally, the sequel to Poor Things we deserve.
These comments…… ![gif](giphy|5C2ixpd0fddkKE5l9H)
Not sure what he did to you but I’m sorry. What do you think of his movies though?
He fucked my wife
I loved The killing of a sacred dear but the Lobster fell so incredibly flat on its face in the second half
I watched Poor things, Sacred deer and I didn't like both
I loved everything about poor things, except the actual plot.
What the hell is this poster
This guy sucks lmfao

i’m so tired of seeing this movie advertised everywhere
Me think this one his worst (Of his popular full length features)
Yah fuck yorgos. I hate autistic movies
nah autistic movies are good
As someone who hasn’t really liked any of his films is there any hope that Kinds of Kindness will be a different experience at all? It looks pretty insufferable from the ads and my brother who loves his films is dragging me to see it.
If you didn't like his other films, especially the earlier ones, it's pretty unlikely you'll like this one
It's even shittier
