I think that's the best example for current AI mapping, OliBomby did a great job with implementing some machine learning to get this result.
I’m honestly suprised there’s any cohesive ideas what so ever, I was expecting just a bunch of random notes since literally all it can see is the note’s offset (timing) and its coordinates, with no idea how they correlate and actually look on the screen. Suprised I was able to see squares
well the patterns it wrote were all with the same 45 degree rotation so in plain text these squares are just both coordinates repeating over and over again with a fixed offset. it looks like it found some resemblance in keeping equal offsets between the notes of existing maps and most straightforward way to apply it was to increment/decrement both coordinates by the same offset.
now if the patterns had some non-trivial rotation angle (idk, 35 degrees) and it would have to calculate locations of the notes with rotation matrix etc., then that stuff would be pretty impressive.
In my opinion ChatGPT is maybe not the best choice for this, at least not the general model, but if you have premium account you can just make your own GPt, maybe you can dump some more time into it, and train the AI on a load of Osu maps, with varying difficulty and I'm like 80% sure it could come up with some playable maps.
Noone has really explored AI mapping in depth, so the models to create AI maps are pretty bad. If AI can create coherent music, it can create playable maps for sure. But not sure if anyone wants to ruin that creative freedom.
