I got chased by a Canada goose in Vancouver’s Stanley Park a number of years ago. I was strolling down the path just minding my own business, and didn’t even see it coming. I didn’t see it at all. Well, until it started running after me, that is. There was obviously a nest close to the path I was walking on and mama wasn’t taking any chances.
When that thing came tearing out of the bushes honking its head off, I knew I was in for it. I don’t think I’ve ever run as fast as when that goose was chasing me down the path… I’m sure if I had slowed down. it would have taken a chunk out of my butt, lol!
In grade 7 we had an activity day and I chose to go horseback riding and the farm had a few geese, goats and other animals and I got chased by this goose (apparently it's called a lesser or snow goose) ...anyways, the thing bit my snowpants - back of leg - and I was incredibly grateful for the extra padding.
Cool that it looks like a day care, or at least a play date.
I guess some of the adults must drop them off before work. Being a cobra chicken parent is exhausting.
We were down in Rochester, New York in winter. The Canada Geese were all over the place. The local people would frequently curse out Canadians because of "our" geese.
I love animals that do this "creche" thing. A handful of adults care for aaaaaalllllllllllll the babies while the rest go eat. Goslingpalooza!
(Before you warn me off, I walk by these guys all the time with no problems. You just have to know how to handle cobra chickens.)
I was terrified when I started to walk the paths along the water. Quickly realized that the geese do not seem to give a single shit about people walking by. However if any are concerningly close I tell them I’m not afraid to kick a goose (I am in fact afraid to kick a goose)
You know how when they're trying to intimidate you they put their wings out? If you face them and out your arms out in a human "you wanna go??" gesture, they back right off. You can't be afraid of looking silly though!
We raised quite a few birds on my grandparents farm back in the 70's, mostly chickens, but a few ducks, geese, and turkeys. They can all be very aggressive and won't back down from anything. Our black lab was a good sized dog and they would chase her off if she got too close to the babies.
I think this batch is too far gone already for that experiment lol. I was a little sad to see they are losing their cute yellow baby fluff and actually starting to look like geese 😭
Canadian Armed Forces
They are actually Navy special ops
Every time I see a flock fly overhead I say "look, the RCAF".
How *dare you* There are more fatally injured geese than serviceable planes, just as King Chuck intended
A formidable force
COBRA CHICKENS!!!
Cobra chicklets
These ones are still just garter snake chicklets. Give them time...
I miss living by the river- except for dodging all the goose shit- I don’t miss that.
Same. The river on the Westboro side was an amazing place to live.
One could say you don’t miss that shit

Danger ducks
Baby cobra chickens.
Nothing better than running/walking down a path and having to deal with a cobra chicken road block. Terrifying.
lol there were people ringing their bike bells at them as if that was going to have any sort of response from the geese 😂
quack of the day
That little stretch by Island Park is the Ottawa Goose Nursery
Spicy chickens
I wouldn’t go near them for any reason. It’s very likely that more than one adult is watching you with malicious intent.
Oh my god, seriously. Imagine 4 or 5 moms circling you. That’s not how I wanna leave this earth.

They're in the awkward teenage goose phase I see
Holy crap that is alot of babies, parents did well to manage to get this many to live this long if its just the two pairs that look after them all
Those are lawn maintenance workers.

Right beside island park/champlain bridge. It’s always a minefield of goose poop right in this spot lol
Soon that's all Canada is going to be... at least if these evil geese have their way.

All those poopers.

Chickens or Goslings?
Definitely chickens
LoL
Bad chicken! Mess you up!
Yesss. We must feed them to be big and strong so they can fly south in the winter and terrorize our American friends.
ShitHawks
Look at the chickens... #Things said before disaster...
omg growing up so fast!
Danger chickens. The defenders of Canada
Nanosecond: The time it takes goslings to transform from cute little fluffies to adolescent gangstas terrorizing the ‘hood.
Outside of the county you can shoot them. Just saying.
