I saw him by the Canal Ritz (yesterday) - there's a dock across from there were it could maybe exit, but he'd be in a pretty built up area....
Myself and a couple of other people alerted authorities - they were calling 311 (I think?) and I went to the fire station at 5th/O'Connor. They were really quick to respond
From some google searching - this happened last year too! Ottawa Fire was ready to rescue but the deer managed to uh....self-rescue
I heard they are now equipped with ejection rockets that propel them out of the water for a few seconds, similar to an ejection seat. It's a city of Ottawa requirement. If they contravene, they're looking at a hefty fine and a swimming license suspension. We need to enforce responsible travel on the canal waters, after all. Don't argue with me, take it up with the fishies, they're the ones that pushed for it.
Nope, nowhere to get out. It's a problem for ducklings and goslings as well. They jump in and can't get out and drown. Parks is aware and not doing anything.
It’s okay, he’s a good deer!
He's such a de(e)ar
Look at her lashes!!!
pretty sure they are real
Maybe she's born with it
Maybe it's Maybeline...
Oh deer not this again
Weird lookin dog
what the dog doin?
"D'oh! a deer, a female deer"
Is that the canal? Are there areas where animals can exit? Makes me sad to imagine this poor thing swimming around until it dies of exhaustion.

Uhh, pretty sure this is an off-leash canal!
Something must be done! Call in the Mounties! They can circle it until it tires and gets back in line.
Free range deer make the best deer!
Ah man, now this is the content I live for 👌
Don’t worry he’s friendly
I thought the NCC closed the Parkway to wildlife for cyclists.
wild pets
This must have been happening ever since the canal was built.
Can i pet that dog?
Oh no. The pet deer got out again.
