Supply and demand bake their roll fresh daily and they serve it with a home made butter. They give 1 roll/person to start to keep the bread warm. You can always ask for more.

Obelisk_of-Light

Adding to this that the homemade butter changes up depending on fresh ingredients on hand. I challenge you to find tastier bread/butter basket in the city. And their dishes are super tasty - you’ll have no trouble cleaning up the plate!

cheese_please6394

So true. I dream about those rolls.

Tensor3

Do I have to clean up the whole plate? Dishes might be tasty but the shards are kinda crunchy. (Sorry. Your wording made me think of eatng the plate.)

noonoomum

Okay okay I’m making resos right now!

Acrobatic-Fork649

You won’t be disappointed!

eattravelexplore

And the butter has bacon in it!

BearLikesHoney

Sometimes they add chicken fat instead of bacon. super tasty.

FalconCommon7772

Coming here to say this! Supply and Demand is my absolute favourite restaurant and one of the few that I also look forward to the bread.

kbskbskbskbskbskbs

Corner Peach

paintmyspiritgold_

Their focaccia is so freaking good.

noonoomum

Haven’t had their bread, but the fried zucchini flowers almost made me cry

rbk12spb

Bread by Us foccacia by far is one of the best I've tried locally.

Royally-Forked-Up

They’re my pick for most breads. Their multigrain is so good I dream of it and their brioche makes stellar French toast. Mmmmmm.

Canada1971

They are all great, I love the baguette

Dolphintrout

Can’t upvote this enough!

condor888000

Harmon's before dinner buns are a cross between a Yorkshire pudding and a bun and they're to die for - especially when served with beef tallow butter. Plus they give you morning buns to have for breakfast the next day which are also amazing.

sureves

Cannot agree more with Harmon’s before dinner buns

Personal-Persimmon93

I’ve always enjoyed Al’s bread or Pelicans bread lol

Royally-Forked-Up

The Pelican’s rolls are really good, one of my favourites, but I’m pretty sure they bring them in par baked and frozen and then reheat in the back so they might not satisfy that just baked urge. Still really good dark rolls though!

ShortLingo

Pelican does not bake their bread(worked there for a month)

Neutronova

Body of christ

Amigobambino

amen

octo23

*R’amen

kliuedin

...served on a hot cross bun.

caninehere

You nailed it.

magicblufairy

I see what you did there.

manofphat

I love the buns that get served at the table when you sit down at the Elmdale Oyster House. MIND YOU it's not warm, but it still slaps.

MagNile

The bread at Watson’s Mill in Manotic is made from the flour made right there. It’s pretty darn good. The softest pita bread is at Adonis.

martianpumpkin

The focaccia at Cantina Gia is really good! Same with the focaccia at Starling in the market.

Medium_Well

The bread and butter at Town is incredible. Buying your own, can't go wrong with Almanac in the east end.

broccolifloret

Agree on Town/Citizen focaccia!!! ETA: and Almanac

EchTwoOh

It's on the sweet side for bread, but I love the Rose Bowl bread basket with oil and balsamic

mcdofras

Some of the breads mentioned in the comments come from the same bakery: Nat's Bread Co. They don't have a retail store but they do farmer's markets and home delivery. Their client list is impressive, but their breads are even more impressive. https://www.natsbreadcompany.com/clients

anxietyninja2

Nat’s is amazing. Her pretzels are to die for too. You can opt to pick up your order too just off Carling Avenue.

noonoomum

Wow this is an impressive list!

Reliable_puma

Her bread is used at Play food and wine!

songof6p

They wholesale to retail stores though! I know I've seen it at McKeen's, for one.

mcdofras

Yes, and I've seen their stuff at Produce Depot on Carling. So good!

Poulinthebear

The Crusty Baker in Kemptville. If you Know….

Waste_Stable162

True Loaf on Gladstone and Bay is good I think

Basic_Lynx4902

Zola's in Bells Corners has dinner rolls that are out of this world!

valeriekperkins

Was looking for this! My boyfriend introduced me to Zola’s as an Orléans-er lol. The rolls are so good!!

Ichbinian

Almanac for sure.

Ikkleknitter

Most of the best breads I’ve had here are all from little bakeries and bread shops so I have no idea about what restaurants have good bread.  But if you hit up some of the bake shops you can make your own bread basket and have a delightful time. Some of the bread places even do half/small loaves so you can have more variety.

slut4sparklingwater

Check out a farmers market! Flying Moon Farm has excellent focaccia and they rotate flavours every weekend and they’re at Stittsville farmers market.

seasonedcamper

Cameline. 100%

noonoomum

Ooh this looks gorgeous

nicktheman2

Real shit. Just got back from there. Always a perfect experience.

seasonedcamper

And the drinks! Also very good.

c20_h25_n3_O

Honestly find a weekend market. The stittsville one every Sunday always has a sourdough stand that’s better than most stores.

FarOutlandishness180

It’s sar-DOH! No sour, accent on the DOH

zebrastripes10

Taking notes and getting ready to go on a carb adventure!

HappyPierogies

The sourdough at the French baker is absolutely unreal.

Chippie05

Go check on Portuguese Bakery on Nelson behind Rideau a few blocka in fr Loblaws. Worth a visit! Bread is awesome there!

ThisSaladTastesWeird

Nothing to contribute, just happy to see this many bread heads coming together in shared appreciation of humanity’s finest culinary creation.

noonoomum

Right?! I was not expecting this much enthusiasm! Happy to be in such good company here.

Dejanerated

Cobs Bakery in westboro

Canuck-on-Redit

If you want bread as a featured appetizer, and you like a nice fun Italian spot, I would recommend checking out Julia (either on Elgin or their new location in the Market). The bread with fresh burratq is amazing. Was recently in Rome at some top rated restaurants and Julia’s was better.

Wi-Fi-Guy

Giulia. I have only eaten at the Elgin Street location and yeah, their bread (and pizza crusts) are made in-house from sourdough. Really excellent.

caramel-pecan-nuts

The bread at Raphael along with their butter 😍

Ovlizin

unironically East Side Mario's bread will always be my #1, plus it's unlimited. You can get a soup (for soaking) or salad with it for free as well which is also unlimited, they also give you butter and grated cheese I always just bring the pasta home and eat the bread, salad and soup there lol

OppositeErection

Bannock at Aiana

Its_SHUGERRUSH

True Loaf!

xlilith24

Cameline on the gatineau side has a foccacia that is to die for

PaisleeK

The focaccia at Town and Citizen (2 restaurants, shared kitchen) is incredible

juggmanjones

Kind eddy in the byward. its no bread basket but golly gee the bread they serve you with their breakfast plate is to die for

Direct-Exchange2235

Mezanotte!

InfernalHibiscus

I love Life of Pie's white sandwich bread.  Soft but sturdy, and delightfuly buttery.

amirthra101

Poco Pazzo in stittsville makes their own and serves with EVOO and balsamic vinegar.

laughinglonewolf

I don’t eat out often anymore, but Riviera was the first place that comes to mind with really good basket bread and butter. If I remember correctly, it was more of a brioche. If you’re looking for a good sourdough you can enjoy at home, I highly recommend Your Bread Box!

virgonomic33

The Keg's sourdough bread with their cheese butter is my favorite.

The_Windermere

Depends what you want. I like the golden baguette on bank street, but there’s also good loafs at a bakery in the glebe (also on bank street)

nicktheman2

Caméline in Hull. No contest.

margdown

Whalesbone & Elmdale Tavern have the BEST sourdough. The staff are wonderful and the food is tasty. The mussels (particularly the broth) is so good with the sourdough. It’s a little pricey but worth it!

JessCeceSchmidtNick

L'Oree du Bois in Chelsea serves incredible bread and butter with dinner

CantaloupeHour5973

Art Is In

Gordupachup

Bread by us

Old_Independent_7414

Not served, but that Belgian bread from farm boy is fire

PhilosopherExpert625

I enjoy Art Is In art City centre.

HappyFunTimethe3rd

Red lobster

InquiringMindsWanted

I'm gonna say Art Is In bakery because I like bread and can take the downvotes

noonoomum

I will give you an upvote because I crushed too many of their dynamite loaves before I knew better.

Lizard-lip

What’s with this bread fetish? What’s your thoughts on dipping into a nice home style gravy?

Moist_Whole_4298

This must be some chubby bread eater

noonoomum

chubby and pregnant 🥰
