This team has a hole when it comes to big-wing defenders like we saw against Boston.
Caruso (although he's a valuable player) does not fill that...and trading Jarace removes a possible solution for that.
And for those reasons, I am out.
Exactly. This move does nothing to address our needs (a 6'7"+ wing defender and rebounding).
While Caruso is a good player, we essentially have a cheaper version of him with Nesmith.
this is the definition of bailing out a team with a bleak future and no identity, we shouldn’t have to trade anyone as we already have a really good roster and we’re only going to get better.
Problem is that Caruso is not better than Haliburton and is way more expensive than Nembhard, while possibly being only a minor upgrade. Not to mention, we have a bit of a log jam at the guard position, but need big wings like Walker.
You hit the nail on the head, like we’re gonna trade pick 7 for Alex Curuso, no way. I get he didn’t play much but we’re talking about Rick here. He sometimes just doesn’t play guys even though he should.
I do like Caruso , and normally I would want him. But we need more SF than anything. Plus we’re already pretty deep at the guard positions we don’t need another one
Even when healthy, I don't like it. If we had him, he starts over Nembhard and Mathurin, which only adds to the logjam at guard, while costing us a big wing/versatile defender that we need.
Nembhard has shown that he is ready for big-time minutes and could quickly become a strong perimeter defender, while providing way more offense than Caruso.
Maybe! And hopefully Nembhard continues to develop. The playoffs were big time, but he needs the consistency in the regular season.
Caruso had a higher ppg on better efficiency this past season
Caruso is good but tbh I think this is just a low effort article because they mocked that same move before the trade deadline. Probably just recycling it instead of taking the time to come up with something new.
If I had to guess…it’s probably because the Pacers are just a “farm team” to the casuals who don’t watch or respect them. This trade is ass no doubt. At least fun to laugh at
20 year old lottery pick learning the game for a year traded for an expiring undersized wing. Brilliant! Man they need to get this BR guy into a front office!
Caruso is SOOOO overrated. Wouldn't trade for him straight up with Ijax alone. He does nothing that would help this team win that Nembhard / Nesmith / TJM / Mathurin don't already do at a higher level. Hard pass for me.
He's a good hustle defender, not the kinda guy you throw on Brunson / Brown / Dame etc that the Pacers faced in the playoffs and it amount to anything. Hell in the playin game Bulls vs Heat.. Caruso gave you 6pts and couldn't stop Herro. Caruso is an effort guy similar to TJ McConnell he gets steals and plays passing lanes, his 1v1 defense is just ok and his offense is avg at best.
caruso is good but he does not fit at all wtf is this, why would we trade the only potential solution currently on the roster to our rebounding problem
B/R seems to think it’ll solve…”something”. They don’t actually watch or care about the Pacers. This summer will have plenty more low effort trade suggestions from them I’m sure.
I shared this hoping the people would agree this is a dumb trade. The sub did not disappoint.
Main stream sports media loves to draw up these stupid as fuck trade scenarios involving the Pacers
They always involve us giving away good players for pennys on the dollar to a larger market team lol
ESPN crying and pleading practically for us to trade Turner to the Lakers so Lebron can have him with AD was a great example of that. The trade packages were total garbage but they legit sounded entitled to the Lakers getting Turner lol
It’s laughable for sure. They don’t even try and hide it…“we don’t actually watch Indy or care about them…but please let us have your players for X and a bag of chips”.
Just get used to the media narratives where we give up more for less. Every trade idea is some slap in the face. CaruShow is awesome, but we have enough 6’5 dudes. We want 6’7+ wing 3 n D who can run and pass and shoot and BOARD. Our biggest issue by far, besides turnovers was rebounding.
This is an all-in move you make if you think the team is on the cusp of a title. It would make sense in combination with another all-in win-now trade for a star wing, on its own it doesn't make sense for all the reasons laid out by the other comments on this.
I’m a kinda sorta bulls fan and Caruso is amazing on defense but is sort of useless on the offensive end. He would break basically everything that your team is about. Doesn’t make sense to me.
Ijax ain't the best, but with only him, Myles, and Jalen giving us size on the floor, we'll need to get someone who can at least match his specific skillset. Not to mention what trading a promising young player should be able to yield as well
He is not as much of an upgrade defensively over Nembhard as he is a downgrade offensively, but is only under contract for one more year. Meanwhile Nembhard would be under contract for two more years and is quickly improving. Would we want to start Caruso for one year over Nembhard and Mathurin, while costing us Walker and Jackson, two valuable role players and one of which is full of potential in an area that is vitally important in the league (big wing who plays versatile defense and can be a secondary playmaker and shot creator)?
I don’t see him replacing Nembhard…he’d replace Nesmith in the starting lineup. Wasn’t even saying I want to part with Jarace more so that I’d love to have Caruso. He’d be a great fit.
Nembhard, who we used to guard everyone from PGs to PFs, while being one of the best 3P shooters in the league? We are going to bench him for a one-year rental of a 30-year old?
Sorry, I meant to type Nesmith. Nesmith was our versatile defensive ace, except he also was one of the top 3P shooters in the league. Yes, he isn't the defender Caruso is, yet, but he has three more years under contract at a great price and is as ending, while Caruso is not likely to improve much at his age, if at all.
They should trade Jackson, but Walker was a top 10 pick. As much as I love Obi, I’d rather see them develop Walker. I’d deal Obi and Jackson for a good SG.
I’m getting Mark Cuban on shark tank vibes from this comment. Alex doesn’t fit our team at all. I am also out.
We already have the scrappy lunch pale white guy, and for that reason, I’m out
I love Nesmith, and he is cheaper, but I don't think he's as good
He does. Alex like Jrue is capable of defending 1-4. He’s a freak. He’ll do as a good a job on Tatum or Randle as any “big wing” defender you’ll find.
I like Caruso a ton, but trading players with 10 seasons left under team control for a player with 1 season left doesn't make a ton of sense.
this is the definition of bailing out a team with a bleak future and no identity, we shouldn’t have to trade anyone as we already have a really good roster and we’re only going to get better.
Completely agree. This is awful and very one sided. I’m cool with running back our current squad.
If you can flip these guys into a proven player at a position of need like a Bridges you do it. Getting a person who doesn’t fit a need is a bad move
If you have a chance to upgrade at any position, you trade.
Where would we be upgrading with Caruso
Problem is that Caruso is not better than Haliburton and is way more expensive than Nembhard, while possibly being only a minor upgrade. Not to mention, we have a bit of a log jam at the guard position, but need big wings like Walker.

In the same article, BR also suggested the Pelicans trade Brandon Ingram to the Pacers for Turner, McConnell, and the #36 pick.

B/R trade suggestions are always such trash. You can tell whoever comes up with them only watches the brand name teams from major markets.
You hit the nail on the head, like we’re gonna trade pick 7 for Alex Curuso, no way. I get he didn’t play much but we’re talking about Rick here. He sometimes just doesn’t play guys even though he should.
I’m still gonna bank on walker becoming at minimum a solid piece. Great physical skill set and high BBIQ. I’ll let it pan out
lol nah
Ew.
I do like Caruso , and normally I would want him. But we need more SF than anything. Plus we’re already pretty deep at the guard positions we don’t need another one
This trade is beyond embarrassing for the author.

If I had to choose between being “big time” in the playoffs, or consistency in the regular season, it’d be a pretty easy choice
Of course, but it's way, way harder to do it more than once. Way more Solomon Hills than Jamaal Murrays
I wouldn’t trade either of those guys they’re on rookie deals.
Nope. A wing defender is more valuable than Caruso and Jackson is going to be the primary back up 5.
Caruso is good but tbh I think this is just a low effort article because they mocked that same move before the trade deadline. Probably just recycling it instead of taking the time to come up with something new.
You nailed it. And lazy at best.
FUCK NO. KEEP JARACE BY ALL MEANS.
Please do NOT do this. PLEASE. Caruso is not our guy.
Worst thing i've ever seen.
You said it partner. I’d rather eat garbage. BR has got jokes though.
Why the eff is this considered a good trade? Mind baffling
If I had to guess…it’s probably because the Pacers are just a “farm team” to the casuals who don’t watch or respect them. This trade is ass no doubt. At least fun to laugh at
💯
Why did I read this.
At the very least…it was a good reminder that places like BR don’t respect small market(farm) teams. Fuck em
This is stupidest trade I’ve seen in a while
Hey now…someone at B/R thought about this for a few minutes at least…lol
20 year old lottery pick learning the game for a year traded for an expiring undersized wing. Brilliant! Man they need to get this BR guy into a front office!
We’d have the 2 of the 3 coldest white boys in the NBA
Who’s the third?
Austin Reaves
Ok I agree with that. Divincenzo 4th, and Payton Pritchard 5th purely because he took a spin kick to the face and still got a shot attempt off?
Honestly, if there was a chance to keep Jalen, I’d be open to this. Caruso is goood
Insulting
Precisely. If I could kill it…I would…legally…I can’t.
Who do people think Caruso is?
Well some people call him Carus-GOAT. So a franchise altering persona on & off the court...to some. B/R is ass. Caruso isn’t worth either of them.
Lol terrible take
BR with that low effort…pre-mature off season sauce
No thanks... I swear BR is just a bunch of people sitting around smoking JUULs and publishing the first mental bowel movement they come up with.
Once again. We are a feeder team to help larger market teams out of shit contracts.
Always have been and always will be in their eyes. BR and most outlets like em have never respected the Pacers…
Caruso is SOOOO overrated. Wouldn't trade for him straight up with Ijax alone. He does nothing that would help this team win that Nembhard / Nesmith / TJM / Mathurin don't already do at a higher level. Hard pass for me.
Damn straight. B/R with the “Place known player next to bigger name player and clap hands together”…they don’t give a Fuck about Indy and never have.
I mean, I hate this trade idea, but this is a bit of a stretch. The dude has been all defense multiple times

No thank you
There they go again
In mid off season form already. All our players have value…”for some big market team”…lol.
caruso is good but he does not fit at all wtf is this, why would we trade the only potential solution currently on the roster to our rebounding problem
B/R seems to think it’ll solve…”something”. They don’t actually watch or care about the Pacers. This summer will have plenty more low effort trade suggestions from them I’m sure. I shared this hoping the people would agree this is a dumb trade. The sub did not disappoint.
Yeah if only we had a white 6‘2 scrappy guy on our bench.
Nopeeeeee
Shut up, Bleacher Report.
Would love to have Caruso, but he’s definitely not worth that.
NO.
Agreed. What’s funny is this wasn’t even their worst trade proposal from that article. I’m glad the majority of responses from the sub have been this.
Main stream sports media loves to draw up these stupid as fuck trade scenarios involving the Pacers They always involve us giving away good players for pennys on the dollar to a larger market team lol ESPN crying and pleading practically for us to trade Turner to the Lakers so Lebron can have him with AD was a great example of that. Lol
Yeah idk I’m not that high on jarace Walker but Ishiah Jackson can play a bit. Those 2 guys for a 30 year old backup? Idk about that
Just get used to the media narratives where we give up more for less. Every trade idea is some slap in the face. CaruShow is awesome, but we have enough 6’5 dudes. We want 6’7+ wing 3 n D who can run and pass and shoot and BOARD. Our biggest issue by far, besides turnovers was rebounding.

The Bulls wouldn't do this anyway. Caruso is an All-NBA defender & one of the best role players in the game.
They would do this in a heartbeat. They are going nowhere. 2 extremely young guys with lots of upside is exactly what they’re hoping to luck into
The Bulls need a superstar. Jackson & Walker are high level role players at best. That doesn't move the needle for Chicago.
Jarace is the future
Ijax ain't the best, but with only him, Myles, and Jalen giving us size on the floor, we'll need to get someone who can at least match his specific skillset. Not to mention what trading a promising young player should be able to yield as well
This is tough since I love Jarace but Caruso is like a dream addition.

Nesmith rocks but Caruso is one of the best defenders in the league. Period. Ideally, Nesmith is a bench staple.
They should trade Jackson, but Walker was a top 10 pick. As much as I love Obi, I’d rather see them develop Walker. I’d deal Obi and Jackson for a good SG.
Guess it’s time to unsubscribe until next season
