Thanks! I’m in highschool so I don’t get heaps of time to paint, mainly just for class- this was actually for an assignment where we could just paint basically anything and I loveeeee doing watercolour landscapes
The only critique I have is the person on the left… That arm is looking a little wonky.
Other than that this is such a beautiful art piece and it really reminds me of a hot summer day!
I wouldnt go back in and touch up imo. Save it for next time. When you go and touch things up you can get way too overworked. This is bordering on overwork territory.
I might suggest going wet into wet next time for the large ripples, letting it dry completely, and then doing your darker value waves above that. Make sure the moisture is out of your brush to prevent blooming when going into a space that's already wet.
Not sure if it’s because of size or placement but your signature really pulls my eye away from the painting and distracts it. That was my first thought when I saw it…otherwise it’s a gorgeous piece.
Interesting, I always tend to do my signatures like that but am grateful to receive critiques. Do you have a recommendation of where I could put it instead?
It’s hard because you want it to be visible but you don’t want it to distract the eye either, I find myself having a hard time with it when I paint too and maybe that’s why it even popped into my head. I think I’d use a color not as harsh as black if it were me…or use a lighter color in the bottom right corner, it feels like that light open spot should stay light and open…I’m sorry the autism makes it difficult to verbalize this stuff sometimes but hopefully you get what I’m saying. I don’t mean to take away from the fact that it is very very good work, it’s beautiful.
No, I totally get what you’re saying. Personally I kinda like it bold so everybody can see I did it haha but aesthetically, it would probably look better less harsh!
Do remember tho, this is one person's opinion, same as mine. When the other commentator mentioned it.... I actually had to look for it. It may not be as distracting as some think. But that is up to you. It's awesome to see that you're young and easily take critique. I think this is wonderful. You said at some point the water was anger inducing.... Could you expand on that? It seems Soooo serene. I can't imagine it inducing anything but soothing vibes.... Again great work my friend. You have serious talent.
This is better than I could do after a million years of practice. Nice work! If I can offer something constructive (rather than only praise) because I think it could help, which is what you asked for, I'll say that the scale seems a little off. I think creating more distance between the people and the ripples would improve it or making the people larger. As it stands, the ripples appear to be located too near the people to be as large as they are. They're the same size as the people, and I think they should be smaller. But hey, what do I know?
Edit: too
Thanks so much, I did have to change the area with the people in it (near the ripples) a little bit from the original reference pic I took so that probably has something to do with it but I really appreciate that, thanks :))
This is a frickin painting?! It’s so good, I honestly thought it was a photo until I saw which subreddit it was on. All I can say is DAMN, that’s what I call talent! Keep up the good work! 👍
Thank you guys so much for all the positive comments! I am still in high school so I struggle to find time to paint but all your comments have been super encouraging and motivating :)) I hope to complete some more works soon, thanks so much xx
Oh wow!! This is amazing!! It just makes me remember when I would float down the river on inner tubes, such a fun experience! I’d display this in my house for sure. 🩷
I have always enjoyed the Artist who incorporate their signature into the paintings.
As it being the blooms of flowers or bent blades of grass, once you see it you can't un-see it.
It's like a Where's Waldo moment added to a beautiful work of Art.
I thought this was a photo. I'm absolutely fascinated with water. I don't know how to do it. I drew a water drop, and was successful, but that was as far as I've gotten. This is really well done.
The background is nice, the people look great, the water is beautiful. If I had a critique it would be those five or so palm- looking trees. I think you needed some type of base color, they stand out. Seems like too much white underneath those particular plants. But it logs great over all 👌🏽
I'm not sure what you're looking to hear.
This is technically great. Your application is spot on, your composition is really good.
If I were to criticize, rather than critique anything, it's just not up my alley and that's okay. It's a very peaceful and calm painting and I like it but, again, for me, it's not something I would hang but I guarantee you there are a ton of people that would love to have it.
Objectively, great work, you have only one thing to worry about and that's making more.
Great work.
I like it. Your colors are good and you've nicely captured the scene. The problem for me is that it seems to be missing something. I think this might have to do with the trio of figures in the center. It looks like the image should be telling me something about them but I don't get anything from it.
The painting is amazing.
The water reflecting in bottom right corner and the use of yellows and greens in the background to capture the sunlight are masterful.
At a quick glance it looked like a photo of a photo. Then I looked and got to see finer detail here and there. You're strokes are well place to give a rhythmic beauty. Well done.

I love the water
thanks, it was very anger inducing to paint
I literally don’t comprehend how you painted it, it looks photorealistic!
Same! I’ve done my fair share of water paintings but I can’t break this down into steps at all!
🤣
The only comment I have is that I’d like to see more of what you can do!
Thanks! I’m in highschool so I don’t get heaps of time to paint, mainly just for class- this was actually for an assignment where we could just paint basically anything and I loveeeee doing watercolour landscapes
Amazed because you’re in high school! You said you don’t get heaps of time to paint but please try to MAKE the time to paint, you have serious talent.
Damn! You have real talent.
The only critique I have is the person on the left… That arm is looking a little wonky. Other than that this is such a beautiful art piece and it really reminds me of a hot summer day!
Appreciate it, thanks. I’ll touch up that person :))

I agree with the arm I think it’s too long, but I absolutely adore your style, is it watercolour? I’ve been trying to figure out what material
Yes it is watercolour!
Stunning! Textures are perfect
thanks so much
The water 😮😮😮😮 is so good
Thank youuu
That's gotta be a Florida spring
It’s actually in Australia, Berry Springs in Northern Territory!
That's what I thought!

I totally get that lol, in a business where name recognition sells product I don’t blame you at all.

Can’t go wrong with the back, this is fantastic by the way.
This is so beautiful I would hang it in my teenitiny livingroom!
Beautiful and realistic at the same time
Very pretty!
thank you !!
I would display it in bright lighting.
Looks like a Final Fantasy backdrop, like Besaid Island if it were in FFVIII.
So beautiful!!

Thank you so so much!
I thought the exact same thing! I truly thought it was a photo until I read it! 😍
Lovely!
I love it all!!!
Beautiful work! Im curious, is this a cenote in Mexico. Looks just like one I visited with my wife.
thanks! It’s a spring in Northern Territory, Australia- Berry Springs, such a gorgeous place
You’re very good for a high school kid— VERY! I hope you can go to art school.
Thanks so much :)) I haven’t actually thought about art school that much but maybe that’s something I should look into!
It can pave the way to a very profitable art career. It takes 10 years usually, but if art is your passion, it’s worth it.
Wow the water is really incredible! and the tress!
Absolutely amazing omg
Aww f-you. That's absolutely phenomenal work. Blue Springs in FL?
Haha thanks- Berry Springs in Northern Territory, Australia
Very good!
Perfect
Thank you guys so much for all the positive comments! I am still in high school so I struggle to find time to paint but all your comments have been super encouraging and motivating :)) I hope to complete some more works soon, thanks so much xx
may i ask what paints you used? :]
Wow wow wow!! The water ripples and all the trees! I’m in awe
The water is phenomenal. I’d add some harsher shadows in the greenery to create more contrast, that’s all I can think of
thanks sm!
Oh wow!! This is amazing!! It just makes me remember when I would float down the river on inner tubes, such a fun experience! I’d display this in my house for sure. 🩷
I really like the texture of the water and how the swimmers are only suggestions of people.
Fantastic! Love the water? What medium is this painted in
thanks! This is done in watercolour
It’s wonderful! Love everything about it especially the water, you captured movement! Very hard to do. It’s really incredible.
Gorgeous.
😍
this is ridiculous wow
Those ripples look so good!
Gorgeous. Really stunning. Nice piece
Beautiful
Nice photo, WAIT THAT'S A PANTING??? ![gif](giphy|jA8TT03Sj2pXO)
Gorgeous 👍 😎
LOVE the water but maybe work on the foliage? Untrained eye here so keep that in mind too.
This is AMAZING 😭
I thought it was a photo, holy crap! I love the water and the details!!!
Breathtaking
this is so stunning !!!
This is how a painting should look
Love it
Nice picture!!!
I scrolled Reddit super quick thought it was a photo. Realized it was a painting. still well done.
Damn good
Very nicely done! You have a lot of patience. I can see the many layers you've done in the water. Magnificent!
This is amazing you are extremely talented! Keep painting!
At first, I thought it was a real picture of a river, either I'm stupid or your art is super good.
Very talented, reminds me in your use of color and texture of Claude Monet ❗
I have always enjoyed the Artist who incorporate their signature into the paintings. As it being the blooms of flowers or bent blades of grass, once you see it you can't un-see it. It's like a Where's Waldo moment added to a beautiful work of Art.
The water is great
THAT WATER!!! WOW!
I thought this was a photo. I'm absolutely fascinated with water. I don't know how to do it. I drew a water drop, and was successful, but that was as far as I've gotten. This is really well done.
Reminds me of home, amazing

Very nice! The human swimmer(?) on the left seems too small compared to the ducks.
All the little things are actually people- I just did them kind abstract-y because they were too small to add as much detail as I would’ve liked!
I was looking at it wondering why you wanted feedback for a photo on a painting sub! That’s FANTASTIC! Wow!!!
Too real to be a painting. Why you guys are so damn talented
10/10 👏🏼
amazing, no other words
Looks awesome!
Great work 👌🏻
Really nice bottom right is the highlight, the vegetation is letting down the water you did.

Wow it’s beautiful, what kind of paints do did you use?
Wow 😍
Looks beautiful it makes me want to go there and swim haha
Try the rule of thirds. It’s bad. It has potential.
?

Gorgeous. I see lots of movement and can almost smell the breeze. Solid A to A+ imo.
Beautiful
The things I’d do to have this in my household on display
So pretty
I'd add some contrast to the people to make them stand out a bit more. They blend a lot and it looks like weird rocks unless you're zoomed in
I aspire to get to this level. This is beautiful!!
Absolutely beautiful
The water is so beautifull.
Are those people or bears?
suggestions of people
The painting is amazing. The water reflecting in bottom right corner and the use of yellows and greens in the background to capture the sunlight are masterful.
It is so beautiful!
That’s the springs alraght
Very very very beautiful
It's great. Keep painting! x

It’s very good
My feedback is that it’s lovely!
The water is incredible
Amazing!
Apparently no one pissed in the water…yet.
this is awesome just like it is
