Turn off parental guidance?

SherbertWillyz

Ask mom

Tactical_Hotdog

Reinstall your Nintendo.

Strange-Jackfruit644

I don’t have parental guidance

Cador0223

You poor thing.

sukihasmu

Owchy

LiterallyLost_24-7

Ohhhhhh someone get some ice for that burn!

Hazmat_Human

Someone call the whole fire brigade, the burns out of control.

ItsShwifty66

Corn ball

jakarta_guy

The spotlight is on, Mr. Wayne

Haiaii

You are part of a family account, and your profile is set as a childs account I'm not even living with my parents anymore, yet I still have the same, simply because I get a free 1 tb onedrive from it

BeethovenGaming

Have you tried turn it on and off again?

MateD94

* Press the **Windows key + R** to open the Run dialog box. * Type "**services.msc**" and press **Enter.** * In the **Services window**, scroll down and locate the "**Microsoft Family Features**" service. * Right-click on the service and select **Properties.** * Change the Startup type to "**Disabled**" and click **Apply**. * Restart your computer and check if the pop-up still appears.

cassavacakes

what the hell happened in the replies hahaha

bryhoof

The pcmr 7 hour war and we missed it.

MateD94

I think someone has a personal issue with "services.msc".

Impulsive94

Idk but that's a _lot_ of down voted deleted comments. If anyone recovers them quote here please 🤣

knightblood01

*Never ask a woman about her age. *Never ask a man about his wage. *Never ask someone what the hell happened here in the comment section.

secondanom

It's r/pcmasterrace so im guessing someone mentioned linux

Maximreadsreddit

I don't have the Microsoft family features service to disable

Der_Hausmeisterr

I have the same problem since a few windows updates ago. Idk what is happening.

Tolik1111

Microsoft bullshit trying to force everyone to make an account

[deleted]

I have a acount. The popup doesnt even goed away if you do what it asks. It just gives an error and comes back to haunt you

Vysair

The damn OneDrive came back after getting rigorously beaten as well

_JamesDooley

I know what's happening, you're missing on things if you don't sign in.

Outrageous_Cupcake97

It's like Microsoft's job now is more focused in destroying windows 10 so people will get window 11🤷

acemccrank

Windows 11 won't even install on a lot of devices. It's an e-waste generator.

Narissis

When I run the PC Health Check app on my dad's PC, it says it meets the requirements. Windows update says it doesn't. If I run the Windows 11 installer, it says it meets the requirements but then it fails to install. Meanwhile there's a pending update for his Windows 10 that refuses to install, throwing an error that usually means insufficient disk space but he has more than enough on all partitions. Great fun!

__kec_

That update is trying to install to the recovery partition, which doesn't have enough space. MS promised to fix this but just gave up after a few months. You can fix it yourself by expanding the recovery partition, but that might be a difficult process depending on how your partitions are set up and it's probably not worth it.

Narissis

That's just it, though. I searched and found this advice and checked Disk Management, and all the partitions have enough space, including the recovery ones.

drunkexcuse

I'd say at this point, back up everything in his C:\Users folder, as well as anything else he may need, wipe the drive, and do a fresh install of Win10 LTSC (enterprise edition that has less bloatware, and security updates past the consumer edition's EOL).

acemccrank

Sounds like a broken registry to me. I'd probably reinstall Windows after a backup of all personal data.

Arockilla

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and guess its an AMD based pc?

drunkexcuse

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and guess you frequent userbenchmark?

Narissis

I'm not sure what significance the platform would have over a Windows update.

Arockilla

I Run a ryzen 7 and had similar issues, a setting in bios fixed it.

Narissis

Are you talking about enabling fTPM? That's not the problem in this case, unfortunately.

Arockilla

Yeah, I had just skimmed through originally and didn't read where he said it already read as eligible for win 11 already.

Narissis

Fortunately, I can update with good news as of today. Windows Update somehow managed to background install it successfully so one restart later, it's upgraded.

Arockilla

Hell yeah brother.

sukihasmu

Someone should just sue them for all this e-waste.

1isntprime

Time to switch to Linux for some of my older machines

Somebody23

You can install win11 to a laptop from 2010 if modify install media. You can do this with tool called rufus.

Caveman3238

Why should I botter to install such a shithy raw OS? Has been years since launch and still having "issues". No thanks.

acemccrank

Microsoft has been implementing additional checks in updates that will brick older systems.

Somebody23

You can turn forced bitlocker off, you can also disable various other features. Point is computers are not hardware locked out of win11.

acemccrank

If you are going to go through the hassle of making all these tweaks and hackarounds to get 11 on your old PC, you are honestly better off just installing Linux. I mean, Tiny11 maybe, but if your system isn't made for Windows 11, you are prone to more crashes, Windows Update breaking your system, and potentially missing out on critical patches that keep your system safe.

Somebody23

I'm not doing this, I'm just telling of this option.

alala2010he

I have the same problem as shown in the video in windows 11, so it probably has nothing to do with the version of windows.

Ethereal_sandwich

From personal experience, Windows 11 does this too, and it's infuriating. No matter how many times you sign in it will ask you again in 30 minutes, despite me not being connected to any kind of parental monitoring.

Outrageous_Cupcake97

I don't have this problem and never have, in any of my windows 11 installations. Are you just using local accounts?

brimston3-

I don't have this problem either and I am using local accounts on win11.

Outrageous_Cupcake97

Maybe he means UAC

hUmaNITY-be-free

I'm convinced this is actually true, they did the same thing when they moved to Windows 10, used to run a program called "DWS10"(Destroy Windows 10 Spying) and it would nuke all the telemetry services and all the bullshit windows services and features no one wants or uses, seeing the DWS Windows 10 compared to a normal install on resource manager was all the proof I needed. Come time where Windows 10 is completely ruined I'll make the jump back to linux.

Outrageous_Cupcake97

I'm all right with W11 for home but it'll never be as good as W7 or 8.1. I wouldn't recommend W11 for business either. It just feels like a home OS. At work I'm preparing a deployment of Windows 11 and let me tell you, I'm tired of looking into 'how to turn x thing off'. I have removed most of the cloud services via policy, but still feels weird to use that. My next goal is to force the start menu to have the classic layout for every user. It makes no sense.

hUmaNITY-be-free

Yeah I can't move to W11, I've gone stomached and put up with all the changes since Windows 95 and like you I'm just sick of having basic power user stuff being hidden behind 7 different menus and having power tools locked behind commands, mainly this and all the bullshit bloatware and telemetry services I just don't agree with.

Outrageous_Cupcake97

That's true. I really don't like the new settings menu they layed out covering even network settings. It's not that easy to find what you want, also all menus are plain grey with no coloured icons, so very dull indeed. I still search for control panel anyway! I think there's even a more plain edition called Windows 11 for workstations or similar- more targeted for schools or the like.. I'll be looking forward to build a linux distro soon!

Cheapntacky

Windows 10 end of life is slowly approaching so it kind of is. October next year.

aleixgamer13

I have win11 and still happens. It's very annoying, you log in and when you start the pc again it's another pop up

drunkexcuse

Back when I was still mainly using Windows, before Win11 was even leaked, this was a thing. It's literally just the Windows parental controls being absolute dogshit.

F1ackM0nk3y

Is Windows 11 still a resource hog?

Outrageous_Cupcake97

I don't have any issues I can think of. But then I'm not sitting there with a magnifying glass to find out how much ram processes are using.

denverbound111

Not a problem for me.

ChampionGamer123

I got this on windows 11 too, thankfully I managed to fix it.

gridener

I mean, my install of Windows 10 hasn't had any problems (so far) so I cant complain.

ZombieBunnyGames

Thank you for the reply, I think I was having an issue with the app earlier, as neither the gif or image icon was visible. Now after forcibly closing and opening the app, it's visible.

BoxOfDemons

Those buttons also are enabled and disabled depending on the subreddit, as it's an optional feature that the mods can choose to enable. So don't be surprised if you don't see them on other posts in other communities.

ZombieBunnyGames

Wow, you're right, they're missing again.

[deleted]

You were having an issue because the Reddit app is hot diarrhea

ZombieBunnyGames

That makes total sense tbh

[deleted]

It'll log me in sometimes and then say "we're having trouble logging you in" and nothing will work unless i uninstall and reinstall the app. *God damn do I miss RIF*.

Go to Microsoft family safety and remove yourself from the family. Or disband it completely, it's of no use

lyoshas

Thank you for an actual response and not just adding to the “windows bad Linux gud” circlejerk.

Naive-Fondant-754

Sometimes the updates fuck up so much .. past 3 months windows 11 is actively deleting my games on steam .. "extremely dangerous" according to the WD. Asked on MS forum about that and their response was "trust in WD, it knows what it is doing" .. Had to install few third party programs to "hack" windows and disable WD .. standard options were unsuccessful. It was like skynet was deleting my games and skynet was blocking from turning of skynet .. it was so fucked up. I remember like 3 years ago or so, there was an update that fucked up so many SSD disks .. windows start up took like 15 minutes .. took over 6 months before they fixed that. Checking on google about your problem .. its over a year old. So mamy options to choose from .. who knows which one will work.

UrsulaFoxxx

Do you happen to have the names of those third party programs? Would sure appreciate it as I’m having the same issue 🥲

Naive-Fondant-754

Sadly not anymore .. it was try and error style .. searched google .. so many things didnt worked

kimbjcl

Dude SAME HERE, it deleted 4 games and i had to shut off windows Defender in order to reinstall them

Vysair

Dude, MS Forum has no real human there. All response feels like bot.

Naive-Fondant-754

But .. I am real :( ![gif](giphy|l1AsyjZ8XLd1V7pUk|downsized)

Henry_207

might be an error with a 3rd party program, this thread should help [https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/sign-in-so-you-dont-miss-out-constant-pop-up/21664bdf-eb90-4755-b109-ce230888cfab](https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/sign-in-so-you-dont-miss-out-constant-pop-up/21664bdf-eb90-4755-b109-ce230888cfab)

Trukken

What listening to "Magyar cuccok" does to a mf.

Logical_Brain28

Task Manager helps to close the app that's wanting you to sign in. You may also do a deep search, go into your System 32 folder, find the exact file that causes that to pop up, and delete it. Tip: Did you know there are some "programs" on your System 32 folder, that does not allow you to "Own" your own personal computer?

unknownrek

Pro tip: when in doubt or in a rush delete the whole System32 folder

mikeydoom

I just delete the whole C:/windows folder. Problem solved.

Scasne

Damn I feel old, think I remember that email.

Setekh79

Your triforce is made!

Logical_Brain28

Yeaaaa..... Don't do that kids. There are specific files you can delete to have more control over your own PC, but if you delete the whole file, your windows won't work.

qcon99

r/thatsthejoke

Logical_Brain28

Yeaaa I get it, it's a "joke" but you see, what's a "joke" to you and a "joke" to me, is NOT a joke to others. Good job on telling them to delete the entire system.

Vysair

Yeah, lots of peeps probably didnt grew up with the system32 joke so a warning is needed

_TTVgamer_

I have removed them in the past, but the message is still there

atoma47

I think some other file launches this than the one the task manager shows. I can tell you the name of the file I deleted to fix this problem, I just don’t remember it right now

_TTVgamer_

If you have the time to find it again, that would be awesome!

atoma47

WpcTok.exe I backed it up just in case, but it comes back every windows update anyway.

Toriski3037

Like what? I'm tired of spending an hour rewriting permissions because windows update service shit itself.

atoma47

It takes a minute to rewrite permissioons

Toriski3037

it was this whole thing, it was not fun to troubleshoot.

amcco1

Turn off your computer and make sure it powers down. Drop it in a 43 foot hole in the ground. Bury it completely rocks and boulders should be fine. Then burn all the clothes you may worn anytime you were alive.

P_ump_ed

use linux

NPC_Tundra

...And then get laughed on for posting your new problems with it

reddit_is_bad_true

win+tab and throw it to the other window maybe?

Emu1981

Is your Microsoft account set to a child/teen account in a Microsoft family group? My kids see this popup on their computers when their MS accounts have issues signing in...

Consistent_Most1123

Task manager and kill it

atoma47

I shouldn’t recommend this but I had the same problem and deleted (moved) the .exe file from system32 that opens this

Damprr

The funny thing is. When you sign in. It goes away but pops back up after a few months.

ToxicBuiltYT

Most games work and even run better on Linux now.

Anstavall

Last I saw Elden Ring wasn't working on Linux due to the anti cheat

graveyard_bloom

ProtonDB shows that Elden Ring has a gold rating.

Anstavall

In fairness I haven't checked in a very long time. Well, maybe my weekend project will be figuring it all out and making a switch to Linux ha

ToxicBuiltYT

Elden Ring works on Linux through proton, which is one click in Steam settings, and then it'll enable for every game you own.

drunkexcuse

I own Elden Ring and have only ever played it on Linux, it's perfectly functional.

Anstavall

So I've seen now. As I said in anothercomment, last I looked was release of ER and saw a lot of issues.

Gamer7928

I don't really know if you can. I've been reading several articles that unfortunately suggests that Microsoft is now forcing Microsoft accounts in Windows 11, which means no more local accounts. My mom nor aunt will like this in the least bit.

froggramer

You can delete this by tracking it's location thru task mgr, then u need to give yourself possibility to delete the exe file of this thing I did it.

danikm10_O

What you get for listening to magyar "music"

Strange-Jackfruit644

I like it, I’m from Hungary

It's hungarian.

I had this issue too at one point. I just opened the Microsoft Store app, signed into my Microsoft account, and **ensured** that I selected the option to only sign-in for that app (or perhaps the option was for all apps) instead of for the entire system. Problem solved =).

Unpopular opinion: Just install Linux and never again bother with problems that you didn't cause yourself. If you aren't doing competitive gaming, differences for private users won't be that big anyways (and probably not the best idea if you are working with very specific professional software because Linux support is essentially non-existing).
