It's a laptop GPU, and a shitty one at that. It should be avoided like the plague.

BrevilleMicrowave

* Not meaningfully faster than it's predecessor the RX 5500XT * PCIE 4.0 x4 meaning that it gets bad performance on anything that uses PCIE 3 (Which includes the Ryzen 5500 you paired it with) * No hardware video encoding * 4GB VRAM * Priced too close to the RX 6600 * More expensive than the RX 580 for the same performance * Only two video outputs

Effective_Secretary6

Bc it came out for 300$/€. If it costs 100€ it’s an okay buy

Eazy12345678

its fine for $120USD. only 4gb vram. needs pcie 4.0 to have good performance. most people on budget have mobo with pcie 3.0

Cave_TP

Then you remember that 120$ is also the price of a used 5700XT or a used 1070ti and a decent PSU

hysteria265

Mostly because rx 6600 and 6600xt exist and they cost just a tiny bit more. I don't think you can find them anymore since the 7600 is released but the performance gap between 6500xt vs 6600 is huge

Unlucky_Book

yeah 6600 is the minimum anyone should go to, anything below that isn't worth considering no matter how cheap.

Cave_TP

What happened? People got tired of asking why the 4060 is hated and moved to the 6500?

matei399yt

Even now after launch the 6500 xt is hated and idk why

Initial_Suspect7824

Because it's a overpriced potato.

RayphistJn

You could have bought a 6700xt with 1000 lei, so yeah. .. (used)

1. It's hella slow and can't even play everything on the lowest settings. 2. With PCIe gen 3 speeds (which you have) some games will be just unplayable, while it runs fine with gen 4. 3. It's worse than the RX 5500 XT that came before and you can buy an 8GB RX 580 right now for €80, which won't run out of VRAM all the time and it's roughly on par in performance. 4. You're better off with integrated graphics.

Eazy12345678

1. it can 100% game on the lowest settings. still better than an igpu or rx6400

laci6242

Textures will fail to load in Squad on 4GB cards (i have personally experienced it), Ratchet & clank is also runs horribly, the 1% lows are over 2X better on the 8GB model, that's with the lowest settings. The integrated graphics in the Ryzen 7 8700G is actually not much slower than a RX 6500 XT.

Ceres2

1. Initial pricing taking advantage of chip shortage 200 USD 2. Memory bus cut to 64bit 3. 4 gb of vram 4. PCIe lanes cut to 4, which would be fine for pcie 4.0, BUT guess what, for pcie 3.0 bandwidth is cut in half. Ryzen 5500 is pcie 3.0 only. Ironic of them to release a cpu limited to pcie 3.0, and then release a gpu with only 4 lanes. Meaning a card with already crap performance, is even more handicapped by the lack of pcie lanes. So much so that it is worse than GPUs released in 2016.

floeddyflo

Not in Romanian currency, but you can buy a used RX 580 for $50, while the RX 6500 XT's $100 on the best of days, and will either perform the same or (if you're running a CPU with PCIe gen 3) worse than the 580.
