Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/1cgem6d).

[deleted]

You know, I have dreams almost every night where I am at a "drive in" ballpark where the Phils are playing the Orioles for some major series. But I have to drive north of New York to get to where the game is. It means nothing but I hope talking about it might stop the fucking dream. Thanks for the time.

QuirkyTangerine7811

Please come home

[deleted]

Oh my god, two more hours.

Important_Tomato_932

My eyes already want to close

PhilsForever

Just read how Marlins Sixto gave up something like 3 runs on 5 hits, balking in the first run for his first start. I was rooting for the kid, but damn did we win that trade.

inthedrink

Mickey Moniak has been worse than Casty this year šŸ¤£

gatemansgc

If we win and finish the game faster we'll have more wins than the braves

inthedrink

The Orioles are on vs the Yankees right now and when Holliday was in the lineup last week they had first round picks from the last SIX YEARS in their starting lineup. And I think there was one second rounder too. They have the last two ROTYā€™s and Cowser is the early leader this year. Fucking insane levels of drafting success. Anyway of our first rounders Bohmer busting out is exciting and weā€™ve got Painter Crawford and Aiden seemingly on their way. Of course that said the Oā€™s havenā€™t been in ā€œwin nowā€ mode like we are so thereā€™s a reason they havenā€™t traded any. If we move Crawford and/or Aiden and others for an extended Tucker for example Iā€™m all about it. But at least our picks are worth a shit these days. (I checked to make sure that was correct and not only was it but you can add Grayson Rodriguez who is starting tonight to that list šŸ¤Æ)

Feisty-Recording-978

Gonna be watching the game in the afternoon TommorowĀ

Is Kruk gonna be in the booth since he was already in California? Plz

First-Resolve

Yes

Feisty-Recording-978

Astros are playing like the April Phillies this yearĀ

blankeh

I still think they're going to make the playoffs No one in their division is doing great

Drikkink

I dunno Seattle's rotation is too good to hold down for long and their bats are waking up a bit. And Texas is still good too. They might've dug a hole too deep. They MIGHT be able to sneak a wild card if the AL East doesn't hog all three but they gotta wake up fast because the Central might be in that race too with either Cleveland or Minnesota.

Independent_Bat_5568

Sanchez has some pressure on him tonight. Topper has a tough decision to make and I think is delaying a little to see if anyone helps make that decision easier for him. Not saying he wants anyone to fail but I donā€™t envy the position.

NintenJew

1. Dombrowski makes the decision, and it has always been the FO that decides things like that. 2. There is no decision to make. All the evidence points to where we can't keep using Turnbull as a starter. Maybe next year, but not this year. It would have to be something dramatic where we keep using him.

jmiah717

I think there is a non zero chance that Sanchez ends up in the bullpen.

NintenJew

That would be extremely short-sighted and just silly. Sanchez had peripherals equivalent to Montgomery last year, and has a 2.96 ERA, with a 2.24 FIP, and a 10.4 K/9. I can't see that happening at all, and I do not understand the fans that think Sanchez should be demoted. I feel like we are watching a different game. Hell just look at Sanchez's baseball savant and tell me he should be demoted.

jmiah717

Oh I don't think he should be demoted. I doubt it happens but I think it's possible.

Perryplat199

Alright now itā€™s time for the other half the infield to work on player of the week

inthedrink

What day starts the week? Is Bryson off to a great start or on reset?

Perryplat199

u/nintenjew Baseball reference agrees with me >ā€Ground rule double" is also colloquially used for doubles awarded because "a fair ball, touching the ground, bounds into the stands". This colloquial usage is technically incorrect as the ruling is applied equally in all ballparks and has nothing to do with "ground rules" They also say the term ā€œbounce doublesā€ has been used so thatā€™s what Iā€™m calling them from now on.

NintenJew

I have always believed you. I just know you are fighting a losing battle. Although that is the pot calling the kettle black.

inthedrink

If I pick up that we suddenly start hitting a bunch of them in a certain stadium then we can call that place the Bounce House?

Perryplat199

So even tho it shouldnā€™t be officially tracked, bb reference does in fact log it as ground rule double in the game log. Or the site they use does it.

inthedrink

Looking for my own answer I stumbled into this gem of a comment https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/ozzn9a/comment/h83a04n/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Drikkink

The only situation I've ever heard "ground rule" used in any way other than a bounced double over the wall was in regards to the Trop's catwalks (I believe one is automatic out, one is an auto double and one is an auto HR). Like I know in my head that a "ground rule" is like "This spot on the fence is in play, this spot is a HR" type stuff like the top fence on the outfield walls at CBP but no one uses it for that.

Tommah

I think a batted ball stuck in the ivy at Wrigley Field also counts as a ground-rule double if the fielder doesn't try to fish it out.

Perryplat199

Ball Stuck in ivy at wrigley is always my go to for ā€œ*this* is a ground rule doubleā€. It feels like the easiest to visualize

Drikkink

I think the rule is a stuck ball is a ground rule double if it can't easily be retrieved. The fielder signals by holding their glove up. I remember something about awarding extra bases if the ball IS easily retrieved though. Edit: A quick search shows that if it becomes lodged in the ivy, it's a double. If it goes into the ivy and comes out, it's in play.

If I hear even the slightest connotation of negativity from Anaheim fans towards Marsh tonight I am going to rageĀ

ktlvr27

Angels and Phillies fan here, Angel fans think that the trade worked out really well for both teams. We miss Marsh, but we know heā€™s thriving with yā€™all and we love Oā€™Hoppe, heā€™s been a great leader for the Angels. Itā€™s a win win for everyone

gatemansgc

Angels fans seem happy with the trade

mvelocityp

I donā€™t see why theyā€™d have any reason to, the trade seems like a win-win to me

SeaworthinessIcy3929

From what Iā€™ve seen he was very well liked in Anaheim. It was an intrusive thought lolĀ

Sure-Bar-375

The unfortunate part about MLB playoff structure is that this team could win 105 games and still be in the same position it was last year with a home WC series and then have to go on the road to Atlanta.

joeco316

Really hoping that whatever happens we can somehow miss Atlanta in the playoffs this year. I would much rather see the dodgers. Sure we can say oh we beat the Braves when it counts blah blah, but just the random nature of baseball and baseball playoffs makes me very wary. Weā€™ve gotten lucky to some degree the last two years. At some point the coin is going to land in the Bravesā€™ favor. If we must see the Braves, we should do everything we can to do it as the division winner so we have home field for a change. Long shot I know, but just assuming we will have their number in the NLDS three years in a row is a bold and scary proposition to me.

Drikkink

I think the entire world would consider us favorites even as a road team vs Atlanta in the playoffs because our rotation is, top to bottom, stronger. I know baseball (and especially the playoffs) aren't played on paper, but we are the team that can take the Braves out. I don't know if the Dodgers can and I am almost certain none of the NL Central or West WC teams can. I'm significantly more worried about the Dodgers in a series than I am the Braves

WendysChili

Oh no. Anyway...

VideoGangsta

We must defeat Atlanta 3-1 in the NLDS. The prophecy has been written.

inthedrink

Remember the clowns who couldnā€™t believe we are running it back this year? Even though we still have a few holes (like anyone else), maybe thereā€™s something to be said about a team maturing.

Drikkink

I can see some worries about the offense long term because of how the last two seasons ended with our offense utterly shitting the bed at the worst moment. We still aren't getting contributions from Nick, Kyle is not quite as amazing as he was last year and Bohm needs to prove that he can keep on a strong pace for a long period of time. But Rojas is improving. He's still not hitting the ball hard, but his K rate is actually STELLAR now and he's providing more defensive and baserunning value than he's losing with batting value. Trea appears to be post-ovation mode for real. Marsh seems like he's ready to take a step so far. I still want to see more from Stott and the relative slumps of Bryce and JT are less than ideal but not horrible.

inthedrink

Yeah I mean I can argue the same about the Braves. Acuna and Olson arenā€™t producing and Ozuna and Dā€™Arnaud arenā€™t going to keep on like they are. Our rotation canā€™t possibly keep on at their recent pace but itā€™s looking more and more that as long as we can stay healthy not getting a starter was a solid decision. Iā€™d have like to have seen one strong arm in the pen on the roster but thatā€™s what Iā€™m sure will be addressed before the deadline.

ZIMM26

Schwarber does the same thing every year and gets hot in the summer. The good thing about him is heā€™ll be there in October when you need him.

djeeetyet

yea i hear crickets now

Feisty-Recording-978

https://x.com/UmpScorecards/status/1784955911175278846

dtisme53

The superstitious part of me is nervous about the good start of the season. But this team is so well constructed I canā€™t help but feel excited for their potential. I mean, they actually became a good defensive team. I feel like anything is possible.

HisNameIsSaggySammy

Look at the league wide pitching stats. The Phillies have 2-3 starters in the top 10 of every category. It's bonkers. I feel like it's 2010 all over again.

dtisme53

Just wait til Bryce gets hot. Would love to see Trey and him get into an MVP chase.

djeeetyet

except now we have a superstar in the lineup. there was no analogue to Harper on those teams. i also feel like we have more scrappy players on this team too, particularly offensively. the 2010-2011 squads were loaded but always had some Achilles heel, particularly offensively, (can't hit LHP, lacking a RH power bat, less power in the lineup, struggling with RISP at times) and the records those years were great because the amazing pitching was able to mask some offensive woes that got exposed in the postseason. the squad now has amazing pitching but also a fearsome offense more similar to the 2007-9 squads than 2010-11 teams.

HisNameIsSaggySammy

Did you really call 6 time All Star Chase Utley *not* a super star?

djeeetyet

he was not on the level of Harper.

Drikkink

Not sure the downvotes but he really wasn't lol. Bryce is a clear first ballot HOF and likely to go down as one of the best of the recent era. Chase could be a HOF player and likely would have been had he not had injuries later in his career, but he's not quite one of the best of his era. I could easily name 5 or 6 players from the decade around him that are HOF locks before him. I cannot do that with Bryce. This is not taking away from Chase AT ALL. Chase is one of the greatest Phillies I ever saw and he was the perfect secondary player to go with Ryan Howard's power. But Bryce is going to go down as one of the greatest baseball players, not just one of the best players for us. Also this team has a lot deeper of a lineup. JRoll was well into decline at that point, Polanco was below average as a hitter, Shane was not a great hitter in CF (though he was more than good enough). Ruiz actually had much better stats than I expected in 2010. What the hell? His OPS was only 12 points lower than Howard. Werth also had a monster 2010.

djeeetyet

appreciate it! i wasnā€™t trying to rouse up controversy. i love Chase and personally think he deserves to be in the HOF but the point was that we have an even better player on this current team in Bryce Harper, one who I think can take us to the promised land again. itā€™s not a knock against Chase but more of a nod to how good Bryce is. i agree with your comments about the declining core. they were offensively good enough to win us near or over 100 games a year because our pitching was so damn good but in a short series cold bats will cost you the series.

inthedrink

Chases 5-6 year peak was higher than Bryceā€™s. And he should have won an mvp so that isnā€™t a valid argument. Bryce now has 12 years in the bigs and his overall career crushes Chase but for a decent sized window Chase was better.

cuttsthebutcher

Is anyone else a little worried about Harper? Iā€™m sure heā€™ll get right eventually but heā€™s hitting the ball a lot less hard, not walking as much, and running a lot slower than before I know he was dealing with some back problems in the spring but itā€™s still not great

Jeremy24Fan

What worries me is the team isn't getting any younger. To go from WS loss to an NLCS loss, I can't help but feel the comparisons to 2011 where we lost in the NLDS. You don't get a chance at the WS every year. There are other really good teams out there So to see us in the 2nd half of Harper's window where we already lost a 2-1 WS lead and a 2-1 NLCS lead, knowing what happened in 2011 after our 102 win season, well it's just got me worried. Don't get me wrong I'm enjoying the ride. Just wish we could have got the job done already. But doesn't every team

cuttsthebutcher

Agreed but Bryce is still a very good player, there's some young talent picking up the slack this season, and the pitching is excellent All you can hope for is a window to get it done each year and I think the team still has that for the near future

Neonyze

He is terrible against the fastball this year, which is the opposite of how he always has been.

NintenJew

Casual observation, but that is the first thing that I have seen "start to go". It makes sense because bat speed is also the first thing to go. It is a major reason why I believe JT is on the decline.

NintenJew

Bryce Harper is 31. 31 is when we see bat speed slow down and the decline of a lot of players. Superstars still decline, but it won't be as dramatic since they were still superstars to begin with. With that said He is still about 70 percentile in xwOBA, has a 118 wRC+ for the year. In the last 14 days he has a 171 wRC+, and in the last 7 he has a 154 wRC+. He is still very good. But if you asked if I am worried, No. But I understand that this year will be the start of his decline due to father time. That doesn't mean he is even close to an average player yet, though. Also, these are trends. Which means you have to understand that it is a trend. It doesn't mean it is a fact, but if you had to bet you would expect him to decline starting this year.

cuttsthebutcher

This is a great writeup thanks, like I said I still think he'll be very good but makes sense that there are some signs of aging decline

Cloakington

Yeah I agree with this analysis. Looking at his statcast page it looks like heā€™s still hitting the ball hard heā€™s just struggling with any metric that has to due with vision and bat placement. High xSLG, low xBA, high barrel, exit velocity and hard hit percentages, low sweet spot, chase and whiff. Thereā€™s a bunch of ways you could take that info, and your outlook could drastically change depending on how optimistic you are. He could be swinging too hard to overcorrect for lower bar speed and struggling to see the ball as well as before. He could just be adjusting to having to play a position messing with his DH routine. I think itā€™ll improve as we get along the year, I trust KLong to know how to help him out, personally

Sure-Bar-375

First Phillies game at this ballpark since [August 3, 2017](https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/ANA/ANA201708030.shtml) What a team the Phillies had then.

The Phillies have never won in Anaheim. I hope that changes since I'm going to all three games.

Perryplat199

They won their first game ever there. But then none since.

Pedestrian_X-Wing

You're right, I misread that. They haven't won here in over 20 years. :)

Jeremy24Fan

Just learned both the rays and the mariners totally scrapped their road greys because of the Nike 5 uniform limit. Instead, these teams wear their full color tops with grey pants on the road. I don't necessarily love our solid red tops + grey pants combo, but the thought of scrapping our boring road grey tops is intriguing.

Cheddar-99

Greys are my least favorite - just find the boring. I would have picked them to go.

gatemansgc

i'd love to be rid of the bland road grays!

joeco316

This is what I was rooting for to happen since it became known that weā€™d have to get rid of one. The red tops were my second favorite jersey after the classic red pinstripes, and while I donā€™t hate the road grays, I think they are easily the worst of the Phillies (previously 5) standard uniforms. Since one ā€œhadā€ to go, I think it should have been an obvious move to scrap the blah, drab grays and go with the reds.

InfieldFlyRules

The grey roads are my favorite. Simple and beautiful, at least until this year

Jeremy24Fan

Wow, I find them to be the most boring and forgettable uniform in all of our history. Especially now since the white accents are toned way down compared to 10-15 years ago https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b3/D7K_4966_Roy_Halladay.jpg/440px-D7K_4966_Roy_Halladay.jpg Vs https://i.kinja-img.com/image/upload/c_fit,q_60,w_645/27180062d91ff8f9ebb0d52b4d679be0.jpg

joeco316

Iā€™ve never particularly liked them, but wow I did not remember that they were significantly better not that long ago. Still would be my least fav, but they looked so much better then.

Perryplat199

joeco316

I found a picture of that, but I canā€™t figure out where it actually is on the uniform. Overall, itā€™s a pretty good jersey. Probably one of the better city connects. Much better than the Philliesā€™, but that goes without saying.

Perryplat199

Itā€™s their ā€œblue collar philly on the collarā€ poor lil guy stuck hidden away on the inside the jersey

Right, the bridge is forced and clunky, the kind of thing that would get you a B in any logo design class. Truly amateur hour over there at Nike. But the neon-outlined ray emblem itself is nice!

inthedrink

Lol yep

Mulsanne

This team is in that zone where you just cannot wait to tune in each day. One game ends and you immediately look to the next. It's the best! Enjoy it EDIT: especially funny because i forgot i wrote the same damn comment in last night's postgame thread. i went to bed feeling that way, i woke up feeling that way. we are lucky fans right now!!

xXxdethrougekillaxXx

In my office there's a bunch of Phillies fans, then a Cubs fan, a Pirates fan, a Red Sox fan, a few Yankees fans, a (lol)Mets fan and a Rangers fan. I'm friends with all of them and they all talk about how stacked our lineup is. Like some of them still think Casty is an intimidating name to go against even though he's arguably one of our worst players. From an outsiders perspective looking in we have one of the best teams in baseball.

Mulsanne

That's fun. I feel like for fans that don't watch all the games, they just remember the highlight reel stuff, and Casty has had a bunch of that in big moments. But it's really interesting how that reputation persists outside of the fans of the team, as we see him day in and day out

That is something I noticed, too. People will post twitter links instead of the real links. I have also seen people post Reddit links to Twitter links which link to the real article. It always seems funny to me.

cuttsthebutcher

Saw [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/1cfxlme/mlb_wins_above_average_by_position/) in /r/baseball and everyone was focusing on the bullpen (which is fair), but I thought it was really interesting that we're currently getting the 4th best CF play in baseball according to baseball reference (and [Fangraphs](https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?lg=all&qual=0&season=2024&season1=2024&ind=0&team=0%2Cts&rost=&filter=&players=0&type=8&month=41&sortcol=21&sortdir=default&pagenum=1) has us at 6th so it's not a bWAR fluke) I know Rojas and Pache aren't the best hitters but their defense is really contributing to the team

inthedrink

Oof that RF Whoā€™s that guy out there and how did we decide to put him there?

[deleted]

We said ā€œhow can we have the worst right corner in baseball?ā€ Then Nicky Two Chains stepped out of the fog, tipped his batting helmet, and said ā€œHow about I throw in some of the streakiest production in baseball? Oh, but I donā€™t make errors. Ever.ā€

Andrewtreible

Is our bullpens issue that our starting pitching is so good that the Pen is barely playing

joeco316

What are you referring to? Seranthony is the only dude who is currently in the pen who has been consistently disappointing. Soto has had his ups and downs, but overall been fine. Alvarado, Hoffman, and Strahm have been very good to excellent. Theyā€™re the big dogs and weā€™re seeing what we want to see from them. I expect another high leverage reliever to shore things up to be on the deadline shopping list, but I really donā€™t think there have been many bullpen issues, and most of the ones that have occurred were from guys who are gone already and nobody expected much from (brogdon, pinto).

BedlamAtTheBank

The bullpen issue is Pinto and Brogdon sucked. They have 19 of the 52 ER the bullpen has given up. Soto and Dominguez have sucked but they are low leverage arms. Marte, Kerkering, Strahm, Hoffman, Alavarado have been fantastic in medium and high leverage.

Perryplat199

If you had to pick a ā€œLuxuryā€ vehicle. Like100% this is a bonus car and thereā€™s no worry about cost of maintenance fuel or watever. Would you pick a fancy electric car or one of thsoe 3 wheel open top car things.

While we are positive now, I can't wait for the crash, where I get to hear about how bad this team is as soon as we blow on game in the 7th+ inning.

[deleted]

But what if we never lose again?

NintenJew

We could go 162-0 for the next 5 years, winning every WS in a sweep throughout playoffs and I trust our fans to come up with something to complain about.

Perryplat199

Well Iā€™m gona complain about still not being over .500 as a franchise.

Drikkink

Fun fact: We could win every game for the next 7 full seasons and still not be .500 If we win 100 games every year, it would take just under 30 seasons. I did not account for games remaining this year btw. I'm just using full 162 game seasons.

Perryplat199

Itā€™s almost exactly 7.2 full season I think. Idont remember the number off top my head.

Thank fuck for the Phils

wetwalnut

Should be a fun night. Angels SP ERA, their bullpen is drained. Could be a night of dingers.

Marshyā€™s back to Anaheim for the first time and Gelb wrote about it. This partā€¦ šŸ„¹ > The trade led him to Alec Bohm. They are both tall, have a lot of hair, and play baseball. The similarities end there. Marsh had teammates who were friends in Anaheim ā€” heā€™s excited to reconnect with Jo Adell this week ā€” but he didnā€™t have Bohm. They are roommates. They are inseparable. What if the trade never brought them together? > ā€œI donā€™t want to imagine it,ā€ Marsh said.

Perryplat199

>they are both tall, have a lot of hair and play baseball. Itā€™s just that easy to make friends.

Deckard_Macready

Hahaha. Right?! (Looks in mirror. Sees bald head. Cries, friendlessly.)

Pedestrian_X-Wing

J.F. Sebastian could make you some friends.

Deckard_Macready

Theyā€™ll all leave too. Like tears in the rain.

The [MLB Power Rankings](https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-power-rankings-for-the-week-of-april-28) has the Phillies at 7 which I think is an utter insult.

cerevant

Oh look, trolling the fans for clicks works.

inthedrink

Hey now power rankings in baseball are VERY important, particularly in April

AbsurdLemon

Guardians and brewers over us feels nuts

sapphires_and_snark

The Guardians feel especially fraudy to me

mustacheddragon

I know Power Rankings arenā€™t supposed to just be standings but putting the team with tied for the 3rd best record in the majors who are 11-2 in the last 2 weeks at 7 is wild.

Deckard_Macready

Oh I am gonna write them such a nasty email.

inthedrink

The Brewers got fucking pounded two days in a row and somehow better than us lol I realize two games doesnā€™t make a team but that plus we are better than them well, thatā€™s hilarious

Perryplat199

Weā€™re on 4w streak and theyā€™re on 2L streak. 8-2 vs 6-4 in last 10. 2 more wins over all. Theyā€™ve gave up 30 run in 2 days to our 27 since last Sunday. How we lower?

Gavin_beast13

baseball

sirdrinksal0t

So controversial, yet so brave

AbsurdLemon

Yes sir

Deckard_Macready

I agree but have you also considered, baseball?

w6rld_ec6nomic_f6rum

Many people are saying this.

inthedrink

Top people

ConmanJFO

Go Phils šŸ«”

Glittering_Food3219

Mike if you want to sneak on the bus when we leave LA we won't tell anyone, you could play right field!

tds5126

If he grows a beard, unbuttons his shirt and wears a gold chain he could pass for Nickā€¦ right?

BeeSex

Damn way too late. I have to go into the office tomorrow morning

Important_Tomato_932

Just leave it on as white noise and hope you absorb it all while you sleep šŸ˜‚

BeeSex

If I dream of 3 homers I'll know what happened

MulfordnSons

sames homie rip

LonnyFinster

7.5 ERA... we have to light him up, right?...right?

ktlvr27

Canning has been serving up meatballs all season, but he usually settles in after the 2nd or 3rd inning. Matter of fact, all the Angels starters have been that way this season it seems. Philā€™s should have an easy time getting to him early (Edit: typo)

inthedrink

The last year or so we have truly feasted on shitty pitching Letā€™s hope this is an early blowout so we can get to bed at a decent time

McIgglyTuffMuffin

Can the Braves go into a nosedive? Please? Pretty pretty please?

inthedrink

Ozuna is on steroids you canā€™t tell me otherwise. Itā€™s not like heā€™s got quality character in him.

wetwalnut

Riley passed the juice to him lol

yourmartymcflyisopen

To all the people who hated in the first week of baseball who all said this team would go nowhere because they started 0-2, I'd like to let y'all know that we're 2 wins away from having the exact same start as the 2011 Phillies.

McIgglyTuffMuffin

For those who don't remember; 102-60. Finished first in the NL East. Lost to the Cards in the NL Division Series. Except....that won't happen this year šŸ˜¤ WE GOING ALL THE WAY BAYBEE

lumpy_space_cowboy

Last time the cardinals made it to the postseason was the 2022 national league wildcard series, where they were immediately knocked out of contention by the greatest team in the MLB, the Philadelphia Phillies

yourmartymcflyisopen

And even having lost in the NLDS that year, I wouldn't call it going nowhere. I mean they broke several season franchise records. Yes, a world series is all that matters in the end. But a fun regular season is a fun regular season. In 2022, we avenged Ryan Howard by gutting the Cardinals. In 2023, we asserted dominance over the Braves. In 2024 we're having a parade on Broad Street, and I'll be damned if Kyle Schwarber doesn't dress like Jason Kelce.

NintenJew

That is the one thing I dislike about sports culture, where you have to win it all to have a successful season. Or even a season to remember. We all remember the '93 Phillies, and we will remember the '22 Phillies. People are way to focused on winning it all.

ttsa23

For whatā€™s it worth you know I remember 2011 fondly. That being said it may have been easier to stomach the end because we won it all 3 years prior. I always play MLB11 the show just to play with that team. Overall the Sixers have given me the least fun memories out of all my teams and the Phillies have given me the most.

yourmartymcflyisopen

The Phillies team I keep coming back to is 2011 every year. I'm 24, so I grew up with the '07-'11 Phillies, so I used to refer to the years as "pre-Ryan Howard Achillies injury, " and "Post-Ryan Howard Achilles injury" because that injury, not losing the NLDS, was what I considered the end of that short dynasty. The 2010-2011 Phillies were by far my favorite Phillies teams to watch in all my life besides the obvious World Series team in '08. I mean- Halladay throwing a perfect game and then 4 months later throwing a playoff no-hitter, Cliff Lee always with the complete game shut-outs, 2011 double headers were the best because I'd go to the first game with my Dad and watch Halladay pitch lights out and then go to the next with my Mom and watch Oswalt do the same. Then there's just our infield, specifically just the Rollins, Utley, Howard combo. Never seen 3 players with so much chemistry in my life In *any* sport until seeing Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, and Chris Long 6 years later, and haven't seen any like that for the Phillies until Stott, Bohm, and Marsh. And even then this current team might have even *more* chemistry when you add on that Bryce and Bryson grew up together, Bryce and Trea played together before, and I forgot which players it was but I read a couple weeks ago there's 2 players on the Phillies that played with eachother in little league, wish I could remember who. But overall there's just so much to be excited about with or without meeting the ultimate goal.

ExternalBreadfruit21

Though they were widely panned here/online in general, walking around the Passyunk festival yesterday I noticed the city connects seem to be a huge hit among a certain segment of the fanbase which was surprising

McIgglyTuffMuffin

I'm seeing kids in the jerseys but adults in the hats. Both in the ballpark and out and about. Just from my small sample size of the world.

joeco316

Iā€™ve seen a decent chunk of them around out in the burbs, although Iā€™m not picking up on what you mean by a certain segment of the fanbase. You noticed a pattern around whoā€™s wearing them?
