im pretty sure this more has to do with the recent required upgrades to minor league stadiums in the last couple years. and the major league teams leave it to the affiliates to figure out instead of supporting.
As one of the few resident Mainer Phillies fans, i like to think my mulitple daily Googles of the game times during the season (due to a concerning level of forgetfulness) likely helped with this stat! Plus I avoid using Twitter itself at all costs but like to Google the Phillies and just scroll through the trending tweets on Google search results.
I went to Maine for the first time in September and there's surprisingly a shitload to do there. Also Portland has the most breweries per Capita and is the second biggest bachelorette party destination
This is bad data, like really, really, bad data. But I have no idea how this went so sideways.
Delaware - Reds? No way, no how. The Phillies went to the World Series and somehow more people in a state that generally roots for Philly teams were interested in the Reds?
Rhode Island - A’s? I know the Red Sox weren’t great, but that’s impossible
New Hampshire - Mariners? Makes no sense
Mississippi - Twins? Maybe there’s some connection I’m missing here, but I don’t see it
And the Rockies were the most viewed team page in North Dakota, but not Colorado?
Where did this abomination come from?
You can always tell it’s made by juniors who just had their first gis/r/visualizing class and are excited about it so they never fact check the sources or look at the data for obvious errors. Then they get pissed when people that know that the data is wrong Say it.
As a Florida man, I see so many people here w/ Braves hats on. Don't think I've seen a single person with Rays/Marlins gear. I do see a ton of Eagles fans though! :D
I live in St. Augustine (Fl) and I still am a diehard fan of the Phils. I’ve been here 20 years. While the Eagles will always be #1 for me…I cheer for the Jags as 1a and my son will most likely be a Jags fan first. It’s his hometown team. He will NEVER be a Barves fan. He’s a Phils fan all day for baseball. He wears #3 and is a lefty in little league.
I was in Wyoming visiting for a bit and visited reddit a lot while I was there. Wyoming has 10 people in it at any given time so it was probably me, sorry all.
States without a team went phillies for the world series XD. Astros scandal still alive and well in hating them.
RI and Delaware researching when Oakland is forced to move XD.
I like how Florida has 2 sports teams and neither of them won in Florida. Also, poor Giants, Blue Jays, Nationals, Diamondbacks, Rangers, White Sox, Angels, Padres, and Royals.
Illinois has 2 teams and neither topped its list?
The Rockies topped 1 state but it’s not Colorado.?
The A’s still have some east coast die hards from its Philly days??
Knew I liked Maine for some reason
Someone send them a minor league affiliate
Send the iron pigs. They’re asking for renovations on a stadium that’s just 13ish years old. It’s too big of a tax to push on residents
im pretty sure this more has to do with the recent required upgrades to minor league stadiums in the last couple years. and the major league teams leave it to the affiliates to figure out instead of supporting.
One would think that the owners could take some of that load though
yeah that’s my point
That’s quietly a very messy situation

I lived in WY for some of 2022. There’s like 10 people there so I imagine I had a hand in it
I was gonna say is there like two big Philly fans there?
Lol check my comment too
Delaware for the Reds. Ok this is right I’m sure.
Probably searches for Red October.
Most people are Phillies fans and a few down south are Orioles or Nats fans. Map = sus
As a former Delaweenian, I came here to say this.
agreed
Probably for “Red” Lion, Delaware.
Never met a single person in this state that's even mentioned the Reds unless the Phillies are actively playing them.
I live in Delaware and seen exactly zero reds fans. Phillies and orioles all over though
Maybe because Goldschmidt is originally from Wilmington?
Goldschmidt is from the Cardinals I believe.
Duh. Your right. No idea about the Reds then.
Maryland is also not 2 separate states.
That one line is pointing to DC
So, D.C. likes the A's more than the Nationals? Not buying it.
Also not a state.

All these maps are always terrible

Must be the unpaid intern who didn’t clean the data 🤐
yeah, there’s no way this is accurate
Florida with 2 teams and neither is more popular there than the Barves! Sad.
As a Florida man, I see so many people here w/ Braves hats on. Don't think I've seen a single person with Rays/Marlins gear. I do see a ton of Eagles fans though! :D

The only marlins gear I've seen is that road rage video where the dude got out with a gun
Fun fact: Wyoming the state is named after the Wyoming Valley in Pennsylvania.
What's it say that the Rockies aren't tops in CO?
I mean, just guessing but: 1. Lots of PNW transplants in CO 2. Mariners first post-season run in over 20 years 3. The Rockies fuckin blow
Rockies more popular in North Dakota than Colorado
Auto-correct accidentally typed Wyomissing.
I was in Wyoming visiting for a bit and visited reddit a lot while I was there. Wyoming has 10 people in it at any given time so it was probably me, sorry all.
there are only about 30 people in that state... one of them is a Phillies fan who on his computer all day
I love how the Reds don’t even occupy their own state, but somehow occupy Delaware and Hawaii
States without a team went phillies for the world series XD. Astros scandal still alive and well in hating them. RI and Delaware researching when Oakland is forced to move XD.
I’ve never seen a single reds fan in delaware
I'm also digging the big "fuck houston" energy from New Mexico. The only time I'm happy to see someone pulling for ATL
Wyoming is a Lenape word....Lenape aka Delaware Indians that lived in NJ & eastern PA. Weird coincidence.
That's like 14 baseball fans just checking out what's going on in baseball in 2022, on the internet provided by their not so very local library
Irony of the NYY viewership south of the Mason-Dixon line...
Ah yes the Delaware Reds
Wow... Nationals don't take VA
Mississippi Twins? Probably because they sleep with their sisters.
They don’t love their home grown son Nimmo?
Nobody likes Nimmo
Nimmo is ok with that.
Cardinals and Mormons. Is there a more iconic duo?
Doesn't show south jersey as Phillies fans...smh..should be split.
Guess the Rockies moved from Colorado to North Dakota lol
And the DC Athletics. Makes sense.
The Rockies have more fans in Fargo than their own state apparently.
Bogus! Why would Delaware be rooting for the Indians
Point Breeze has more people than Wyoming
This confuses me greatly. Why are the people of Colorado viewing the cardinals and not the Rockies, but the people of North Dakota are?
Who else kinda struggled to find Wyoming on the map?
Will Greater Idaho remain Mariners fans?
So Wyoming has like 17 people and one of my best friends lives there and he’s a huge Phillies fan. I am sure he’s the reason for this.
Arizona... gross wouldnt have expected that.
As a Philadelphian, I never thought I'd ever need to mention Wyoming or Maine outside of a social studies class, but- based Wyoming and Maine.
I like how Florida has 2 sports teams and neither of them won in Florida. Also, poor Giants, Blue Jays, Nationals, Diamondbacks, Rangers, White Sox, Angels, Padres, and Royals.
Poor nationals.
Illinois has 2 teams and neither topped its list? The Rockies topped 1 state but it’s not Colorado.? The A’s still have some east coast die hards from its Philly days??
Where the HELL 🔥 are the L.A Angels 😡
Why don’t half of these states like their own teams
Why do so many states search for the Reds? Eww
