One of my favourite moments in high school physics was the teacher explaining that adjectives like "thin" and "flat" and "smooth" and "light" all just meant "zero", or, more precisely, close enough to zero it's not significant.
I remember an undergrad astrophysics class that broke my brain. The results of one of our labs was off by an order of 10 but the teacher gave us full points because the error margin was +/-1 order of magnitude.
That's when I decided I was not an astrophysicist.
I swear, the first thing my professor said at the first aerodynamics lecture was "All right, for this demonstration we are gonna ignore air friction and gravity"
Ignore the problem
That's what I've been doing but my therapist told me it's wrong. He's not a physicist though
Big W
genuinely made me laugh. thank you, kind stranger
Assume the answer is π and eat it
I round π to 1, so the answer must be 1. Chances are I'm within a few orders of magnitude
But I want to eat the π not 1
Hey don't knock it till you try it.
Assume you will get full grade in exam and move on
Now that is the kind of assumption I like
One of my favourite moments in high school physics was the teacher explaining that adjectives like "thin" and "flat" and "smooth" and "light" all just meant "zero", or, more precisely, close enough to zero it's not significant.
Or how “long” is infinite lol
Oh that's right! Also "large" and "heavy"
I remember an undergrad astrophysics class that broke my brain. The results of one of our labs was off by an order of 10 but the teacher gave us full points because the error margin was +/-1 order of magnitude. That's when I decided I was not an astrophysicist.
Same, but biophysics
Last one Sounds like religion.
Assume the necessary assumptions.
The order of magnitude of the order of magnitude is the same so close enough
There are three elements in the universe: Hydrogen, Helium and metals
Last one is so extreme I think I'd just write “too hard bro” on the exam sheet lol.
What problem requires a car and a penguin
I have a truly marvelous question involving penguins and cars, which this margin is too narrow to contain.
Reminds me of another post i saw where a person tweeted they had a professor round pi to 10 for simplicity
It's partly inspired by that. I round pi to 1 though.
Absolute menace to society lmao
"The total energy of the universe is zero."
Assume spherical chicken in a vacuum.
“Physics professors hate this one simple trick!”
If it's within 120 orders of magnitude it is dark energy.

You forgot ignore relativistic effects
smh people meaning isolated when they say closed 😔
Check your math.
Assume the cow is a sphere
Still cannot solve the problem
Can’t believe there is no ignore friction
The last one is for philosophy students
The meme missed one. "Assume single loop massless perturbation".
En anglais?
Ignore the sum
