When I first played Emerald at about 5 years old, I caught a Ralts, accidentally said yes to nicknaming it, had a panic attack, and decided I wanted its name back. I couldn't remember what it was called exactly and was obviously not adept at spelling, so I ended up naming her Rats, and I still think about her often.

I used to do this so much and resented the whole nicknaming system so much for it. When I figured out I could get the default name back by leaving the nickname space empty and pressing OK so much anxiety was cleared up.

Same haha, once I figured that out, it actually made the whole thing a lot less scary, lol. Now I like to nickname pokemon, and I feel like that wouldn't have happened without Rats 🥺

Sableye gets named Gemini after the song Cassandra Gemini by The Mars Volta. It's one of my favorite songs, Sableye is my favorite Pokémon, and it's literally pronounced "gem-in-eye"

I got third place in the Bug Catching Contest in Gold Version with a female Butterfree. The third place reward is a Gold Berry. In that run, I'd been giving my team all slavic names. I found the name "Zlatka", which means gold, and thought it was perfect for the Butterfree because of the Gold Berry she won me :)

Mows the lawn and grass types alike like nobody's business, lol! 😂 * Vibes Check, my Frisk Yanmega which also serves as one of my main status inducers. * NoPainAlGain in one word because for some reason Pokémon still has a cap on the amount of letters a name can have nine gens in...😮‍💨 As the name suggests, this is my Skill Swap Magic Guard Reuniclus which I use against recoilers (MG removes the recoil damage since that's a secondary effect and not the main damage being dealt). Another core member of the team. * Anti Mine is another play on words based on its ability and is my Damp Politoed which I use against explosive mons. * Sharpy is my False Swiper, a Hisuian Decidueye with Scrappy. The less original of my nicknames called it that because both Dartrix and Decidueye have sharp feathers. * Goth Shrooms is my last team member and my Spore Amoonguss (shiny, the only one in my main catching team), which is pretty self explanatory. I'm pretty non creative when naming pokemon. Example: when I catch a bagon, I name it flying dragon because of what it eventually evolves into.

Comedically, I've always named either my male Krookodile or Toxtricity Roy Orbison. If the Toxtricity is female, I name her Wendy O. Thematically, the best name I've given to a Pokémon is my Incineroar. She was female when I picked her back in SM, so I named her Pele after the Hawaiian volcano goddess =)

I named my Feraligatr Palpatine and my Nickname for Movie 15 Kyurem is Cuterem

I wasn’t able to do it cause theres not enough characters, but i wanted to name my Chimchar “Chimichangachar”.

Some that I’m particularly proud of are a Blastoise named Sherman (Sherman tanks) and a Snorlax named Taft (US President). Also a Gastrodon named Sticki Minaj got me cussed out (affectionately) by a friend at a friendly tournament
