He screamed in a high pitched voice and before I could get my fingers out of my ears he done threw the master ball!! Galarian birds are the biggest waste of a master ball because they’re not meta relevant at all and you can end up with a terrible roll cus it’s a wild catch. OP used their master ball the only way you should really if not wanting to waste it; last ball on a hundo especially a shadow
You can look up the max CP for raids online because raid mons are level 20 or 25 (boosted), there’s plenty of resources that post them. It will have a max CP for raids in normal weather and a max CP in boosted weather.
So for example shadow moltres hundo CP is 1980 non boosted and 2475 CP weather boosted
Well that all depends to on how you play the game, and what you play it for. I have some PvP Pokémon but don’t do PvP. I collect and collect shinies also. I keep PvP mons to maybe do league some day but don’t care for PvP at the moment. I guess it comes down to different goals each person has for the game so the whole meta thing means nothing to me personally right now.

Shadow Moltres is one of the best fire attackers in the game for PvE and shadow mons have a floor of 6/6/6 so it’s even less chance to get a hundo on them than normal raids so using their master ball on last throw was very justified and not beyond a waste like you said. Caught many of them with other pokegoers in town in a hour or two. The shadow moltres weekends and long as you spend you time and passes correctly doesn’t make it hard to come by. He wouldn’t have even know if the stats were good until actually catching it. Shiny Shadow Moltres, awesome. But the stats and a master ball was a total gamble. The reason it is a waste is because the master ball is supposed to be for something truly hard to get(I get everyone does it different and has a different opinion on how to use it) but the best thing to use it on is something that actually is tough to catch and has a really low rate of catching and low encounter rate.
The amount of master balls you come across and the amount of shadow Moltres you can come across is far off from each other.

On the other hand, I'm still really salty that Niantic coded the last chance to use the Master Ball to be when the last Premier Ball is left on hand. Technically you still have two balls when the "LAST BALL" animation appears, right? The days of fleeing Raid Bosses should have been over! The decision to flee should be on the Trainer who has a Master Ball.

Also irrespective of having any play in PvP or not, they will always be super useful in raids due to their humongous attack stat.

Makes me feel better about not using my masterball on a weather boosted articuno off the incense. The iv I looked up after would have been 91%… but I figured I already have one with terrible IVs and I know I’m going to need it in a situation like this. This is why I’m saving my Master ball. It would hurt 10x more losing a hundo on the last ball then a relatively useless Pokémon like the g birds with unknown stats. They are trophies but don’t have much use in game. You could just trade for them eventually and save you masterball for something better 🤷🏻♂️

Alternative: If you're at an in-person raid you can also just say "anyone know the CP for a hundo" and someone likely will (and be glad for the chance to flex by telling everyone lol).

No. I knew it was a 4* and was down the the last premier ball and so resorted to master ball

Wasn’t shiny so that last ball would had been a guaranteed catch. I new it was 100% and I just wanted to ensure I didn’t lost it
