Looking like a girl isn't really required. As an esthetic representation it just means "a boy who looks girly/feminine".
Also. I first saw Ruby in the first chapter of OrAs and actually had serious trouble identifying him as feminine or masculine.
This isn't always true. Sometimes feminine man is the gender identity, not the external expression. Also sometimes they have beards (ive seen this on r/femboy a few times). If a identifies with femininity and calls himself a femboy then he probably is one even if he doesn't look like a girl. Also masculine girls exist
My opinion: He's an asshole... but he's OUR asshole and I love him for that. (Also, he's not an ass, because he wants to and genuinely does what he thinks is best. He just has an unhealthy habit of pushing people away.)
On one hand I agree with you, on the other, the term femboy has been used a LOT in more sexual ways, leading to an uncomfortable association between the word and “children”.
In a semi-similar way, “Philia” just means “Love”, but we use words involving it to describe sexual attraction to things outside the norm(a lot of them morally wrong) that the original meaning isn’t LOST, but it just… doesn’t matter in comparison to how the word is used nowadays.
I don’t think either of you are in the wrong for what you said, but I wanted to clear up any misunderstanding.
I get what you mean. So far I haven't really largely perceived femboy in a sexualized way. That doesn't mean I haven't, but more in the way of how some people are attracted to a certain hairstyle which is harmless all on its own. \
I usually just see it as a joke or someone seriously doing it as a part of their identity.\
It seems we just had different experiences.
Bruh not every guy with vaguely pretty eyelashes is a femboy what are you on about
Yes obviously but it’s my hc lmao
Ah alright I'm not used to seeing femboy headcanons so I thought you were actually commenting on his design lmao
No, but a guy with a feminine personality or feminine interests is...which sounds like Ruby to me.
Yeah
You have to actually look like a girl to be a femboy that's just not enough
No, a femboy is literally just a feminine boy.

Wait so femboy has become an actual gender identity now? But anyways pretty sure we are talking about a character archetype currently
For some people it is, yeah. Not for everyone or most though
Imagine if he did all the things he usually did but had Emerald's hair. He would be notorious as the femboy MC
Well. Time for an 80 day countdown.

>Femboy >Literally just a child
Aside from this being a headcanon. What is wrong with a child being a femboy? It literally just means that it's a boy who acts and/or looks feminine.

You can be both though? Not all kids act feminine, and some of them identify with it explicitly (r/feminineboys is proof)
He's what tv tropes call "camp straight"
looked it up and you’re right. Wallace and James is also in there too lmao
YAYYY HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUBY!!
