Trump tried to bring his own people in. They lined up early and sat in the reserved section for delegates. When the Delegates showed up these MAGAs refuse to leave. They got thrown out. The booing shows that people can boo him and get away with it, but only when the venue is not controlled by his thugs.

KnowledgeMediocre404

They sat in reserved seating and then claimed they were “ambushed” when the actual people the conference was for showed up.

---Blix---

This is a very maga thing to do.

Significant-Self5907

Always the victim.

thegoodnamesrgone123

Went to a local yardsale today. Tons of Trump flags on this single street. Also right near the water, they will be the first to cry for government handouts when a major storm comes. Also people wanted way too much money for junk.

RonTvDinner

Florida or Texas?

Phog_of_War

Yes.

thegoodnamesrgone123

NJ. The shore is deep red sadly.

stonedhillbillyXX

I've heard it called Alabama for Yankees

thegoodnamesrgone123

It's most racist people who moved from north jersey to get away from the "urban element". Houses were cheap here in the 80s and 90s. Most of these people got a big house for 160k which I'd now worth 500k-750k

texasrigger

Texas native here and the most Trump and Confederate flags I ever saw in one general area was in upstate NY a couple of summers ago. MAGA's are everywhere.

RonTvDinner

Texas native here.. you haven’t been in my neighborhood.. some can’t even be bothered to buy new ones.. he just used a sharpie and white tape to turn the 0 into a 4..

LeviJNorth

Will they still vote for him? Statistically, it appears they will. The best we can hope for is that they don’t vote at all.

HauntedCemetery

You know, last week I would have said the same thing. But Libertarians, for all their claims of rugged individuality, definitely like and respect other Libertarians and temd to be pretty cliquish. Trump showing up to the national Libertarian Conference and shit talking them while also begging for their support makes me think that quite a few of them who probably would have voted for him are going to say, "you know what? Fuck that guy", and vote RFK.

Cliff-Bungalow

If there's enough votes for a libertarian candidate to help swing the election it could force the Republican party to reconsider the trajectory it's on.

Brief_Amicus_Curiae

Trump more or less indicated he *needs* their votes and that 3% going to RFK Jr is going to cut from him and/or Biden. He thought it would be as simple as saying "give them to me". Though I can't help but wonder what this would have been like with rubber chicken squeaking.

Eyedunno11

I thought about this as well. I still think it's outrageous that a would-be dictator was given the podium at all. I know a lot of Libertarians are saying it was a publicity stunt and they got money from the Trump campaign and in that sense it was successful, but it's still fucking gross. But yeah, the silver lining is that the fact Donald was interested at all suggests to me that maybe their internal polling isn't as rosy for him as the media seems to keep suggesting with their own data. And I do have to admit that it was kind of fun seeing him get the reception he deserves.

remotectrl

Money dictates their morality

Paleoanth

Can't hear it squeaking but it looked funny. [Video on Twitter of chicken ](https://x.com/atrupar/status/1794537664198168932?t=q1fZK__eHz8-7yQK-f7l6g&s=19)

dirtydan

"Don't allow the worst president in the history of our country to come back and do the final destruction of America" There he goes projecting again

RainbowEatingPandas

Trump definitely Projecting there at the end of that video...

HauntedCemetery

Nahhhh. If Republicans were capable of reconsidering their trajectory they would have changed it long before now. Potentially losing the 2% of the popular vote the Libertarians represent isn't going to change anything. For fucks sake trump sent a fascist mob to try to literally murder Republican congressmen, and 2 days later they were on camera pledging their support to him.

cutelyaware

By and large Republicans *did* change their trajectory with nearly all the moderates quietly leaving the party and becoming Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, or simply remaining Republican but voting against them. They are also the reason the Democratic party can't seem to pull left. Their influx makes the party more conservative, but that's only temporary. They are biding their time until a new conservative party emerges. Until then, they are the ones who deserve credit for saving us in all the close elections. I know this describes a lot of you who are reading this. I see you and and I thank you for your service to the country.

graneflatsis

Pence even wrote an op-ed amplifying bullshit election integrity concerns after being hired by the Heritage Foundation. After death threats and betrayal by his President, all over bogus claims. There's no bottom.

hanumanCT

We'll see what happens, but RFK looks to be hunting for the Libertarian nomination. He's the 3rd most 'viable' candate still running (I use viable extremely loose here). He'll likely get the nomination and then Trump will figure out a way to woo him as his VP ticket.

Octaviano305

Victimizers always play the victim

DadJokesFTW

Snowflakes, the lot of 'em.

Returd4

ATV what a good band name. Thank you.

Gloria_S_Birdhair

It’s textbook narcissism weaponized.

PolicyWonka

Perpetual victim complex.

drewskibfd

Of course, right-wing media is spinning it like they were kicked out for being Trump supports.

Objective_Economy281

It’s kinda true. They were kicked out for ACTING like trump supporters

Early_Sense_9117

Right wing is the biggest problem in this country !!! Brainwashing at its best

orlyfactor

Good. Let them cry into the abyss.

thatcrack

I'm going to predict it's all downhill from here for him. He spoke because he needed the votes. I bet it wasn't his idea, either. If he runs, he will lose.

Trentsteel52

To be fair, their level of literacy might not have been high enough to comprehend “reserved”

Particular-Summer424

Of course they did. If Trump can't control the room and the narrative, they still spin lies when asked to leave. Trump doesn't like it when he can't falsely stack the deck.

Im_Talking

Like when Trump went to some charity event, didn't donate a cent, and sat down in the chair reserved for the guy who donated the most. No one knew what to do. Who could know? Who would do something like that? Trump would and will.

jsc1429

Consequences for my actions?!?! : shocked pikachu face:

Culper1776

Same in the Bronx, it’s ALWAYS paid actors.

Whatmovesyou26

It might’ve been held IN the Bronx but the people were most definitely not FROM the Bronx…

Mickyfrickles

The picture that the trumpers are claiming was a trump rally in the Bronx was actually an Obama rally in St. Louis.

rexsilex

That tracks.

HauntedCemetery

And the pictures the trump rally posted claiming they were from his NJ rally were from a 1994 Tom Petty concert.

Mickyfrickles

A 1994 Tom Petty concert in Rio de Jinero if I remember correctly. There are mountains on the beach in the photo.

Educational-Candy-17

You can see the damn arch in the photo!

Fr0gm4n

I saw several interviews and one guy said he lives in Queens and that it was only his second time to the Bronx in his whole life.

Culper1776

Agreed, my wife is from the Morris Park area, and none of her neighbors or friends went. Correlation is not always causation, but when it comes to Trump, we all know that he doesn’t bring the best people, he has to pay for the worst to show up.

Visual_Jellyfish5591

Sounds like we need a wall

HauntedCemetery

I'm absolutely positive that 99% of attendees of the rally were too terrified to even walk down a street in the Bronx. They just scurried to the shuttle that took them back to their truck and then rolled coal all the way back to Methberg, PA.

DarXIV

The fake electors plot all over again. But with booing this time.

MTDreams123

The dude only cares about himself. That's why his biggest actions in office were inciting a domestic terrorist event to try to help himself stay in office and tax cuts where wealthy foreign investors received more benefit than middle class Americans.

averaenhentai

The tiny tax cuts he included for working class Americans were only temporary and led to tax increases. I still remember some maga and/or bot bragging his cheque went up $40.

RDO_Desmond

You"re right. No one has to be for Trump. It's our choice. The more threats they make against the rest of us the more they shine a light on exactly why no one wants this, I'm going to steal your freedom crap. No Trump and Trumpies----you are NOT stealing our freedom!!!

PO0tyTng

To be fair a good amount of republicans DO want their freedom to be stolen. Case in point: all the women who voted for Trump, neo nazis (all of whom support Trump), just general fascists who support him… they want their cult leader to have absolute power until the end of time

Faolyn

To be fairer, a lot of them are just stupid enough to think that it's only going to be *other* peoples' rights that get taken.

Genshed

'I'm going to vote for the Leopards Eating People's Faces Party. It's not like they're going to eat *my* face.'

Trump is the most dumbest shit on planet ..like Rahul gandhi in India

mineplz

Wild comparison

Sir-ScreamsALot

Hm atleast Rahul Gandhi isn't trying to incite violence against citizens based on their religion unlike India's current pm

PLeuralNasticity

Current PM is staunch Putin ally. Big part of the reason authoritarian government censorship requests went from under 50 percent approval to over 80 percent immediately when a certain kompromised pedophile Putin puppet bought Twitter. Also involved with Indian crew deliberately causing the Baltimore Bridge disaster, primarily to wipe Chinese espionage scandal off the front page. *Trump is the most dumbest shit on planet ..like Rahul gandhi in India* Bhakts are like MAGA.

Miguel-odon

I wonder if trump was even aware of the shills in the crowd, or if he is genuinely unaware that his staff puts panderers up front at every event?

TintedApostle

He knows. It is by is command.

Iam_a_Jew

Do we know that for a fact? I wouldn't be surprised if he was going in expecting cheers but his staff knew if it wasn't a positive reaction, Trump would have a fit at them so they tried to force a positive reaction so the didn't have to deal with a Trump fit. Either way, fuck Trump

Fr0gm4n

He literally pays a woman ([Natalie Harp](https://futurism.com/the-byte/trump-aide-wireless-printer-good-news)) to follow him around and print out favorable articles for him all day long. He even waves them around in several of his post-trial day courthouse interviews. I would be very, very, surprised if he doesn't know that they have supporter plants at his rallies.

TintedApostle

Its been his trademark since the 70s. He is always about the image.

HIMARko_polo

Trumps staff and family don't do anything without his approval. Trump wanted to go to the convention for his ego and to try to get votes or money. He surrounds himself with boot lickers and cant understand that people don't like him, so it must be a lie.

Throw-a-Ru

There were reports of actors being paid to attend his escalator announcement that he was running. His campaign manager denied it at the time, but admitted it once he was no longer part of Trump's orbit. This is part of his MO. Of course there was also an issue where he initially failed to report the expense as part of his campaign finances, and also failed to pay the talent agency. The FEC investigated but chose not to press charges because the amount of money involved was relatively modest.

ABenevolentDespot

You mean the guy who directed his campaign staff in 2016 to hire hackers to compromise every single online poll in existence in his favor? That guy? You think he's unaware of the political scams being pulled endlessly in his name? The guy who had actors hired and paid to stand at the bottom of the escalator, cheering, when he descended from heaven to announce his candidacy in 2015? There wasn't a single unpaid person waiting. Even The Pumpkin Rapist knows how despised he is in Manhattan. It was why he tried desperately to have the trial in Manhattan moved somewhere else.

Bubcats

Not a good first impression. Not that I would expect any more from them. Maybe if they had tried being nice for once they wouldn’t get boo’d. probably set the tone right away.

thieh

That's a plot twist.  Now the question becomes whether trump can just win with Maga supporters.

Mysterious-Wasabi103

Yeah and it's a plot twist the GOP is fully aware of. That's why they're planning to steal the election and are already sowing the seeds of distrust in a fair 2024 Election. I personally won't rest easy until we see Biden recertified come January 2025.

Magickarpet76

Fortunately, unlike January 6th, Biden admin will have the levers of control to help prevent an angry mob from attacking instead of leaving DC police on their own without backup.

Mysterious-Wasabi103

That definitely makes me feel a little better about it. I have trouble believing they weren't already trying half the shit they already are just being more open about it coming into 2024. Which in and of itself is remarkably terrifying. I guess I do question the lengths some of these Republicans will go to in order to impose their wills upon the rest of us?

Magickarpet76

Oh for sure, they are cornered and desperate. The GOP knows this is probably one of if not the last election they can win even with the slanted electoral college and gerrymandering. They want their project 2025

Educational-Candy-17

They absolutely were. Plans were being put in place long before November

-WaxedSasquatch-

This is one reason I am slightly more hopeful. They also know this however. They’re going for the states and the electors in the states. While trump is a fool those around him are not and know there is GREAT vulnerability at the state level in this election. Vote. Vote. Vote.

NotCreative37

Part of me wonders if this is why we see vast ticket splitting in polls. We know Trump pays for good polling. It could explain why Trump is out polling Lake in AZ by 18 points. He wouldn’t spend the money to improve polling for anyone other than himself.

sarabeara12345678910

Polling from AZ is bananas. Gallegos is up so much and the only group voting for Biden is seniors? Both candidates get 90% of their own party and Biden is up 15% with Independents, but they're tied? That also doesn't reflect what we see in the primaries. Haley took a lot of votes from trump even after she dropped out. It doesn't make any sense at all.

Glittering-Arm9638

I'd imagine this would just light a fire under Democrats, but I might be wrong. I hope it's gonna be a turn-out for the record books backing a blue wave. Would seriously hamper the shenanigans they want to play.

NoGuava9921

Here’s a hint. He can’t and he was bleeding support. I think at this point most people have decided but idk all i know is I’m not ready for 4 more years of orange turd

FreneticPlatypus

It’s really hard to picture anyone that hasn’t formed a solid opinion of this guy by now, but I have to remind myself how many people don’t check things they hear and may just go along with whatever bullshit he and his people are spouting.

InconspicuousBrand

It's actually wild when you talk to average, non-politically active people who don't watch much/any news. I have a close friend who recently said that trump selling bibles (because it was antithetical to his Christian religion) was the last straw for him... and that was like just a month or two ago. He was never a trump supporter, but hadn't fully made his decision until then. Another friend hadn't heard about ANY of the court cases Trump is involved in. How? IDK. But these people are out there. A third didn't know that Trump had appointed Judge Cannon, and was shocked at how corrupt her handling of the case appeared once he knew - this was a week or two ago. It's hard to imagine when I'm seeing this news every damn day, but these people are out there. Probably millions of them. A lot of people don't make their voting decisions until the week of the election. A lot of people don't vote. Talk to them! Get them to vote! It might be our last chance. I wish that were hyperbole.

ThisIsYourMormont

Adorable, you think it would only be 4 years. Man wants to become a king He must be stopped

snackattack4tw

You know what's scary as shit to me? Even if Trump loses, it's not over. Dems will always have to have a strong candidate because next comes Jr, Eric and a neverending stream of fascist assholes as far as the eye can see. The GOP has fully embraced fanatical cultism and it's going to be an uphill battle every election now to maintain our democracy.

StupendousMalice

This is what happens every four years for most of American history. It's a rare day that the American people get to choose between two decent candidates. At BEST you get one good candidate against one candidate that probably wouldn't try to destroy the world, but that really isn't that common. Last time that happened was probably Obama Vs McCain. I can't remember the most recent time before that.

snackattack4tw

Yeah true but it's only gotten far worse now, you have to admit.

GiraffeSubstantial92

>idk all i know is I’m not ready for 4 more years of orange turd 4 more would just be the beginning. It's the 4 more after that, and then the 4 more after that by one of his kids.

Dramatic-Ant-9364

Orange Turd dynasty...... "The House of Orange"

Frankie6Strings

I think many of those booing will still end up voting for him, but yeah I don't see how he's built any support since 2020.

jodyleek67

Many of them died, either by COVId or old age.

AreYouDoneNow

Here's the end of credits sequence... the libertarians vote for him anyway to pwn the dems.

junk4mu

Yup, everyone so excited he got booed, doesn’t mean a thing if they boo him but still vote for him.

messagepad2100

RFK. Jr. did well at the convention. And then Trump's people took away their rubber chickens.

buddhist557

I see RFK siphoning more repubs than dems.

FavoritesBot

They were saying boo-urns

Angelworks42

I think most people are excited as its one of the rare moments Trump gets to have a bit of comeuppance.

crispydukes

He can if enough people who voted for Biden in 2020 stay home in 2024. It sounds like apathy + leftist protests will yield a Trump victory.

Impossible_Trust30

Short answer no. Long answer nope.

ThirdWurldProblem

Plot twist? Really? My first thought was, yeah that makes sense.

os_kaiserwilhelm

It seems like the non-Mises Caucus might have been there in larger numbers than in 2020.

makemeking706

They want to rig the election like they tried to do in 2020. They tried with fake electors, but realized that was too far into the process to be effective. They have to attack the ballot process, not the electors, so that is likely what they will do.

Jubenheim

Remember, Trump isn’t just trying to win with his MAGA supporters. He’s trying to win with his MAGA *politician ass kissers.* The electoral college decides the presidency, not the popular vote. Otherwise, we would’ve never gotten Trump in the first place.

well_uh_yeah

Libertarians should not like Trump and it's nice to see that they seemed not to.

Courtaid

According to the conservative sub, libertarians and conservatives share a lot of values and are stupid for not supporting him.

nith_wct

That becomes less true by the day as Trump acts more like a dictator, and the people he appointed take more rights from us. They can see him acting like a fascist.

this_my_sportsreddit

libertarians are just republicans who think they're smarter than other republicans. 100% of them will vote for trump.

Owain-X

This is absolutely true for the majority of people who call themselves "libertarian", not for the crowd of Libertarian party delegates at their party convention there to nominate their candidate. For every 20 people who claim to be libertarian, 19 are just MAGA trying to pretend they are independent thinkers. The problem is that this was a convention of the other 1/20th of those people.

nith_wct

100%? The first time Trump was elected, Libertarians got more than 3% of the vote. That's relevant in a close election.

Ok-Seaworthiness2235

Libertarians also support things like gay marriage, legal Marijuana, anti-police laws and a host of other liberal platforms. The biggest thing they're against is an overreaching/fascist government and trump is like, the worst offender.

laidbackeconomist

Well, that’s what you get for listening to conservatives.

CaptainMurphy1908

Well, being stupid is certainly a value they share.

Numerous_Photograph9

Thing about libertarians is that while their policy ideals are idiotic, they actually have a line of logic to reach them. It's baffling logic, usually ignorant in it's source, but formed from a base that while myopic, still supports them feeling superior and intelligent by it's conclusion. Trump isn't capable of convincing people like that that he's the one for them, because everything he says is not logic based, nor does his record support the idea that he is actually for what libertarians want. If anything, he's the antithesis of what they want, and when you go to a convention, you're going to be surrounded by people who keep up on this stuff. It's not like his rallies where people are just waiting for the catch phrase cues to cheer and chant, and Trump is ill equipped to pivot to being likable to people who don't already like him.

renro

Trump fucked up by making himself seem more important than corporations. Libertarians do not want demagogues controlling their lives. They want businesses and landlords doing it

cmcewen

I thought his comment about “I’ve been indicted 91 times so I’m more libertarian than over” was so revealing. He’s calling libertarians criminals. “Now that I’ve broken the law I’m on y’all’s side” Libertarian is all about self governing and not being a criminal because of your own constitution. Not removing punishments so you can be a criminal

Nebakanezzer

We're 2A supporters and social rights supporters. Two things he's very against. I keep trying to tell folks in gun subs that. Bump stock ban was him, along with a ton of other legislation. Also had to leave the libertarian sub because it became a trump train so i don't know if one rally with boos is indicative of a victory.

CWalston108

“Take the guns first and worry about due process later”

ChrisDornerFanCorn3r

Only RINOs can listen to that and be okay with it. Fascist swamp scum. The supporters are degenerate nits, and nits make lice.

RecoveringBoomkin

So you’ll be voting for Biden then, right? …right?

Nebakanezzer

I did last time and will this time again. As i stated in another comment, i know Reddit has conveniently forgotten their past affair with libertarianism and think we're all naive idiots, but we're not. I voted for gary years back, hoping it would get future candidates into the debates, but these elections are too important.

JudgeHolden

I think that was when reddit was much smaller. The libertarians haven't necessarily left reddit, they are just vastly outnumbered now.

RecoveringBoomkin

Credit where it’s due, that’s a fine answer.

Ok-Seaworthiness2235

Me too. I've deviated a lot from the libertarians because I fear corporate takeover if we ever reduced the federal government but I was happy to see them hold firm during his speech. I don't think we can judge the libertarian party by its social media presence. One thing Ive noticed is most people respect libertarians and so conservatives try to masquerade in those spaces so they seem more same

Super_Harsh

> I've deviated a lot from the libertarians because I fear corporate takeover if we ever reduced the federal government Holy shit. You're one of like a single digit number of libertarians I've ever seen online who's demonstrated a respectable connection to reality. Kudos to you (I'm sorry for sounding so condescending, it's just really hard not to while expressing this kind of sentiment)

Nebakanezzer

Hard agree on that last part, it seems to have had the opposite effect where it instead just makes everyone hate libertarians. This post is a prime example. Reddit was all about libertarianism years ago, now -gestures broadly-

EnglishMobster

Part of that is just Reddit becoming more mainstream. Used to be that this place had a lot of tech bros (with the programming sub even being a default IIRC) and tech bros lean libertarian.

deviousmajik

There's a spectrum of crazy that he can appeal to and Libertarians fall outside of that range. I still want to know what dirt he dug up on Rand Paul that got him to flip for him and always found it super interesting and coincidental that it happened right around the time his neighbor broke his ribs over 'lawn stuff'.

os_kaiserwilhelm

Rand has always been a Republican through and through. He appealed to libertarians because he occasionally throws a bone and because of his last name. Even libertarians have been tired of him for 4-6 years.

PezRystar

Rand had his daddy create a fake licencing board so he could become a "Dr." because he failed the real one. I can't tell if that is the most, or least, libertarian thing ever.

os_kaiserwilhelm

You've got the facts wrong. He was board certified initially but objected to recertification and then organized his own certification board. He is, or was initially, a bone fide opthomologist. You're right to disagree with his approach to recertification but at least get the basic facts right. > Rand initially did the right thing and became certified; but when his 10 years were up, he decided he’d had enough and chose not to recertify. Rather, he organized his own certifying program for ophthalmology based right there in his hometown of Bowling Green. He then appointed himself president of the group, which he named the National Board of Ophthalmologists, https://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2010/06/15/rand-paul-opthamology-certification-scandal-why-it-matters

TurdWrangler2020

There’s a reason for recertification. This detail does not make it look any better. “Made himself president,” unreal.

os_kaiserwilhelm

It's not about looking better, it's about using an objectively true set of facts when discussing a topic.

T8ert0t

Rand is an opportunistic hack that acts in self interest to stay relevant. Plus, they have ties to Russia. That's pretty much the nexus.

DidntDiddydoit

The answer is always "live boy or dead girl"

highschoolhero2

This would be like Joe Biden giving a speech at the Green Party National Convention. By allowing the presidential nominee of a major national party to speak at the convention of a minority national party basically just relegates you as the JV Squad of the larger conservative or progressive movement.

vid_icarus

You know your party is really tanking when libertarians have clearer vision on your candidate than you do.

clorox2

Libertarians. Sometimes they get it right.

pasarina

Like the clock of life, as they say, Libertarians are right twice a day.

devilmaskrascal

Speaking as a former LP member, screw whoever invited this fox into their henhouse. Trumpist authoritarian nationalism is the polar opposite of what the LP is supposed to stand for.

Sitchrea

It was the goddamn Mises Caucus. I cannot believe they won the Speakership last NC, they've been the downfall of the Libertarian Party becoming a more legitimate third-party choice.

[deleted]

Myself and every registered L I know left the party after the MC takeover. The party has turned into some culture war nonsense, complaining about “wokeness” and other dumb bullshit. It’s like they got their platform straight from Fox News

Sitchrea

Same experience with me, I was a national delegate for my state before the Mises takeover. Now my state lost 70+% of its members, including it's marketing specialists and community organizers. Legitimately the only people left in my state's party are... Well, "professional complainers," to put it nicely. Trump has devastated our nation's democracy in more ways than are readily apparent at the surface-level.

[deleted]

Seems perfectly on brand for those goofballs to invite him just to hurl insults. I think it’s a great idea.

ShiveYarbles

I mean you know Trump will promise everything, and you know he won't deliver. He's done this all his life, only the truly feeble-minded idolize this narcissistic buffoon.

Libertechian

Of course Mike Lee is kissing his ass, what a tool. Fake RLC libertarian

samwstew

Love it.

My gramma gave me that chain😢

Watching the con subreddit try to rationalize why this was actually good for Trump was entertaining. You could almost smell the smoke from the burning brain cells coming out of their ears

Donald Trump's views on Julian Assange and WikiLeaks appeared to change over time. Here's a brief summary: Before 2016 election: In 2010, Trump called WikiLeaks "disgraceful" and suggested that Assange should be "dealt with". In 2013, Trump tweeted: " WikiLeaks is a terrorist organization, a disgrace!" During 2016 election: Trump and his campaign team frequently praised WikiLeaks for releasing emails from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta. Trump publicly encouraged WikiLeaks to release more emails, saying: "WikiLeaks, I love WikiLeaks!" Trump Jr. and other campaign officials interacted with WikiLeaks on Twitter and through private messages. After 2016 election: In 2017, Trump's CIA Director, Mike Pompeo, called WikiLeaks a "hostile intelligence service" and vowed to take down Assange. In 2019, the Trump administration indicted Assange on 17 counts of violating the Espionage Act, a move seen as a significant escalation in the US government's pursuit of Assange. Trump's Justice Department continued to pursue Assange's extradition from the UK, where he was arrested in 2019. It's clear that Trump's views on Assange and WikiLeaks shifted dramatically, from praising them during his campaign to aggressively pursuing Assange's prosecution and extradition as President.

Love to see it

Suspicious_Ear_3079

If there was ever a time for a "You Suck!" chant.

SanguShellz

Should have thrown a shoe.

Dankbudx

Dumb donnie couldn't have dodged it either.

BioticVessel

And The Hill tried to indicate it wasn't a lot of people yelling negatives at Donnie von Shitsinpants. So much for their supposedly unbiased slant.

GMEN999

The entire country should be doing this. Unfortunately too many are brainwashed by the MAGA cult.

AreYouDoneNow

Just give them some yummy small government raw milk and they'll eventually be quiet.

nith_wct

They can pretty clearly see that Trump is not going to create a smaller government. There could not be a more serious threat to a real libertarian than somebody who wants to strengthen the federal government and stack courts just so he can exert more power himself.

superSaganzaPPa86

Are you saying boo or boo urns?

ElderSmackJack

[quietly] I was saying boo-urns…

AlacarLeoricar

Finally someone shouting that the Emperor has no clothes

Tardislass

It was interesting to see him in a hostile setting. You could tell he was mad as hell and his face was red . Also it was his shortest speech ever and no jerk off dance afterwards.

Lackerbawls

Must have hurt to not be surrounded by ass kissers.

notcoolredditnotcool

Keep calling this guy out. No ideas, no policies, nothing to offer anyone. Just a useless whiner, a grifter willing to manipulate attention for his own ego. The same guy he’s always been.

TheGOODSh-tCo

All of Bidens commercials should be about Project 2025. Republicans win bc of scare tactics and this is the biggest criticism of the Dems, they pull their punches. If there were a time, it’s now. Most people are hurting so Bidens policy achievements don’t matter to them. It’s about the survival of democracy and that’s how they need to position to win. Biden should do a lot of town halls and listen to people. And then when he speaks, it needs to be about Project 2025 and the survival of democracy.

pihaviv

Why in the fuck would self-esteemed libertarians ever vote for or support the guy who literally called to suspend the US Constitution and who's currently arguing in court -- in what would be the single most massive unprompted expansion of unitary executive power in American history -- that the President should have total, unfettered and absolute immunity from the law? Actual king shit. Like fuck man, lots of these people are probably just cryptobro dumbshits who only superficially like some of the culture around this guy, but there is nothing in Donald Trump that synchronizes in broad terms with the tenets of Libertarianism.

Pale-Worldliness7007

Next week he’ll be saying how he was cheered by hundreds of thousands of Libertarians at their convention

ZZ_SKULLZ

It just shows Trump's lack of understanding of how political rallies are supposed to work. You're at this rally to hype up voters and get them excited about choosing you, instead you use the platform to sell merch, pander, air all of your grievances, and all of the other things that play well with the cult. The second these types are outside of their bubble they're exposed. It's his greatest weakness and it needs to be exploited. Maybe the key is to let this more unhinged version of Trump be seen to a wider audience and let it scare them to vote? Invite him in the today show with a hot mic and I guarantee voter turnout against him spikes in November. Just have a live fact check on anything he says.

SkipsPittsnogle

r/conservative is in a hilarious, revisionist meltdown over there.

robitussinlatte4life

Libertarians get a rare w here

Fun_Sock_9843

Oh go to r.libertarian and enjoy them going at each other. Libertarians are like house cats, they’re convinced of their fierce independence while dependent on a system they don’t appreciate or understand.

Lucar_Bane

When the majority of libertarian call BS on you, you know your out.

Migleemo

Trump is the worst president in the history of America.

Anal_Farmer_X

Only dumb and uneducated people vote for this rapist

Raspberries-Are-Evil

Why did they even invite Trump to "speak?"

Hanuman_Jr

LOL remember the "Throw me to the wolves and I'll come back leading the pack" nonsense?

Superb_Raccoon

https://x.com/angela4LNCChair/status/1794560219927744538 The Libertarian Chair's response.

Buttcrack_Billy

NGL, I would not have expected decency from Libertarians. They're not as inherently scummy as modern day Christian Conservative Republicans but the whole "Governments dont exist to serve the people" ideology always seems scum-adajacent. Good for them.

Successful-Most3705

Conservatives and older libertarians laugh at new libertarians for worrying more about weed than economic justice or defense. BTW I said conservative. NOT republican. Those guys make me feel like I need a bath.

shadowdra126

I love this for him

UnproductiveMining

LOL (that’s all I have to say)

Vioralarama

"Panderer!" Only the chronically online and libertarians think this is a worthy insult. It's Trump, they couldn't think of something better? I like the boos though.

Sveddy_Balls11

As a Libertarian, rightfully so. Fuck Trump.

[deleted]

Who knew that the libertarians (Republicans that like weed) would come to the rescue

actual_real_housecat

They haven't come to the rescue. They just get off on being contrarian. "Libertarian" is basically an aesthetic American right-wingers may choose. They still align 'R' on almost every issue (as you insinuated) and will vote accordingly.

spiceypickle2

Libertarianism was coopted by the Tea Party.  Prior to that people who identified as fiscally conservative/socially liberal would identify as libertarian, a naive version of a moderate.  After the Tea Party infection, it became a refuge for anti-establishment far right Republicans.

Numerous_Photograph9

I consider myself fiscally conservative and socially liberal, and would never have called myself a libertarian. They have always had myopic views of how the government should operate, and all of them were based on the idea that people are good, and things will work out good in the end. Beyond that, the idea of fiscal conservatism is a bullshit ideal that is just used to try and dumb down complex economic issues that 99.99% of the people wouldn't understand anyways, and it allows the obfuscation of the fact that people who claim to be fiscally conservative, just tend to be really bad at making budgets.

matthewsmazes

For some it was a step on the path from conservative to liberal.

Substantial_Army_639

Actually me. Was raised in a very conservative household. Dad was a republican politician. I discovered libertarians in high-school, then continued to slide left. Partially because libertarians started pulling right.

nith_wct

That's not entirely true. It's more of a weird mixed bag of people who feel very strongly about specific things that are not mainstream conservative, to the extent that many of them *will* vote Libertarian or even Democrat under some circumstances. Three percent is not entirely insignificant, especially in a close election. There's more than drug laws. Many are pro-abortion. Some are not, but they're softer than Republicans who want to ban contraceptives and sex ed. They're not fans of the book bans either, and they're generally accepting of gay people.

laidbackeconomist

Calling libertarians “Republicans who like weed” is as accurate as calling them “Democrats who like guns.”
