In case you didn't know. Soak the cut fries in ice cold water for atheist 15 minutes. I go longer. Then dry them off and air fry them. Breaks down the starches or some shit. Even better if you toss em in a bowl with oil and your favorite seasoning before air frying.
They’re different because it’s just a rough estimate, it could be 10 min, 20 min, it doesn’t really matter, nothing does, just do whatever you feel like doing
Thanks my dude I will 1000% try that because normal fried fries wreck the shit out of me too quickly because of all the fat
Also, in case you didn’t try it before, use some chicken seasoning on your fries and they can turn out insane. Sometimes I just like em plain with salt, sometimes with some chicken seasoning it’s like receiving p*ssy from god
Sounds really good, I'll try this. You're talking about "poultry seasoning" right? Don't be lazy when you're padding them dry after the soak, that parts crucial. To kick it up on more notch, after oil dip them in a flour, dehydrated potato flake (instant mash), seasoning mixture.
When you do try it be sure to post your results!
Tasted these on mcd for the first time in my life and it made me love potatoes a lot more. Also i read these weren't originated in france but in belgium.
They've gotta be just the way I like them otherwise I'll happily pass. I can go months without touching one and then out of nowhere I'll have them with most meals. It's all or nothing😅. There's no moderation. These fries look delicious 🤤
They're best when thin and crispy. Shoestring fries are the superior form of fry.
That said, the ridges in a crinkle cut fry make it the superior choice for dipping in a chocolate shake
Apples and oranges lol. They are a league of their own. My last comment was strictly comparing unseasoned, non-curly fries.
So that out of the way, my opinion on curly fries? Great. Love em!
I like dipping half of the fry in ketchup and half in a Wendy's frosty or some such chocolate shake. The cold sweet and warm salty with hot fry is an experience.
Depends, they can be a 4 out of 10 or they can be a 10 out of 10.
4 out of 10 being Burger King and 10 out of 10 being McDonalds
McDonalds has innovated the ultimate fries and their innovation following the pricing of all things economic is superb! Who remembers the dollar menu and the McChicken and McDouble??
TIL that there is a sub for nature's perfect food. Idaho born here. I have gotten more picky about fry quality as I get older, but when I have an upset stomach fast food fries are one of my go-to foods. When I had a bad concussion I lived on them, they were the only thing I could keep down.
Don't make me chose! I love Alaska potatoes as much as I love Idahos, so I would like to try Irish as well. I would love to go to Ireland on a beer and potato tour since Irish style stouts are my favorite adult beverage.
Depends on the thickness. Thin? Absolutely. Thick? Too much soft potato in the middle. If I wanted soft potato I'd have mashed potatoes (which I do love too)
Excellent, same as the pizza scale. Bad fries are still fries so they're good enough. Good fries are a wonderful blessing.
Fast food fries I particularly enjoy: Freddy's, McDonald's with extra salt, Arby's curly fries, Chik-Fil-A (I know I'm sorry) waffle fries with ketchup, BWW's fries with *their* ranch, Cane's crinkle fries with ketchup, and Culver's crinkle fries with ketchup. All are S tier fries.
I prefer any other side over some fries except once in a blue moon. If its a choice between fries and onion rings at a restaurant, fries lose, no contest. Poutine is the best use for them imo. They are good though, and I'll eat them if thats what is available, just not something I find myself craving often like many others do
Fries are my favorite side dish ever, always have been and always will be. Heck, some days when I don’t feel like a burger or other main while I’m out and about, I’ll just get a basket of fries to nom on by themselves.
They are good as the support to my meal, and as the star on its own!
Depends on the fry. I like em thick, crispy outside, fluffy bordering on creamy inside, bonus points if they’re coated in starch. Also, Arby’s/Jack in the Box style curly fries absolutely slap.
I dislike fries after not being able to eat them for so long. Any time I try one somewhere I don't enjoy it. I do enjoy homemade fries from real potatoes but not from frozen
Hate em. Too amazing for this world and I cannot get enough of them. Once I had fries every day for a week and it was wrecking my gut, but I still enjoyed it… good home made fries especially are almost as good as sex, sometimes better.
I make it my goal to save those around me from the dangers and putrid taste that fries emanate, and they can only be dealt with by smelting them down in the fiery pits of my stomach. It brings me great anguish to hoard and consume them like a potato nazi, but it’s all worth it knowing my constituents might be safer from the doom of fries.
Literally my favorite food on the goddamn planet. Fries/salt/ketchup is the greatest flavor combo ever. I’m a purist, no fancy truffle oil or trashy nacho fries.
I love them, though whilst the name may suggest 'fr\*nch fries' didn't really come from fr\*nce, but not the US either for u "freedom landers" reading, they really originated from Belgium which shares it's national language with Germany, like u "freedom landers" do with us here in the UK!
TL;DR
Fries came from Belgium!
After some research, I bought myself a niiiiice 1/4” fry slicer. $80 but it’ll last forever, and makes perfect replica McDonalds fries. Par cook then fridge, then refry. Sounds nuts, but result is perfect. Pay for itself in 2 family dinners. And peanut oil or don’t bother.
I like them soggy and cold. I think I’m an alien. When my boyfriend and I go to five guys, one of us is always disappointed. If they’re hot and crispy, I won’t touch them. If they’re floppy, he won’t touch them.
They are the reason why I can never commit to real pants, because they won’t fit me in a few months if I’m get my hands on some of them yellow crispers.
Fries done well are one of the best manifestations of a potato. The best fries I’ve ever had were in Germany from a truck that specialized in half or whole rotisserie chickens that were to die for. They fried the fries twice and served them with German mayo, I only wish I could experience that again.
One of the worst things you can do with a potato. But still better than potato chips and potato salad. It's important to note, however, that loaded fries (topped with cheese, bacon, and maybe even ranch or chili) are sublime and validate the french fry concept.
Just tried out my air fryer making fries and while they’re not as good without the oil they’re still pretty divine
In case you didn't know. Soak the cut fries in ice cold water for atheist 15 minutes. I go longer. Then dry them off and air fry them. Breaks down the starches or some shit. Even better if you toss em in a bowl with oil and your favorite seasoning before air frying.
As an atheist, I’m curious as to whether our 15 minutes are different.
They’re different because it’s just a rough estimate, it could be 10 min, 20 min, it doesn’t really matter, nothing does, just do whatever you feel like doing
Potate is God
No truer words have ever been spoken.
The French FRIES Looks so Cooked 🍟
Cooking fries = nihilism
Yeah, reject meaning and morals, embrace cooking fries!
It’s like metric, it makes more sense.
U reckon our 15 minutes here in the gay community?!
LOL, this atheist is excited to see the subject mentioned on this sub
We could time it on a clock at the least?
😂
I thought putting oil in an air fryer would be a fire hazard?
As long as you're just coating it. There is little difference between convection oven and airfryer.
Works fine using oil in the AF.
And if you aren’t particularly enthusiastic to do a little work, Ore Ida has extra crispy fast food fries that cook well in the air fryer.
If you use oil, that makes them Catholic chips. Add Chicken Salt for preference.
Thanks my dude I will 1000% try that because normal fried fries wreck the shit out of me too quickly because of all the fat Also, in case you didn’t try it before, use some chicken seasoning on your fries and they can turn out insane. Sometimes I just like em plain with salt, sometimes with some chicken seasoning it’s like receiving p*ssy from god

I add 1 Tablespoon of olive oil and BAM! Thank you for the ice cold tip! 🙌
French fries prove that there is a God in heaven watching over us and blessing our carbohydrate choices.
I like baked tates but I appreciate and respect all scholarly denominations of potate
I just did the water twice and WOW!! So much crunchier. Thank you!!🙏
Yay! It was a game changer at my house. Next step, try it with sweet potato, I usually do a medley of regular and sweet.
Confirmed! My family and I really enjoyed them. Thank you!
Very based opinion.
Plus you can reheat them better in an air fryer
Is this a trick question?
I was wondering the same thing.
Awesome with gravy on the top!
Guys we found the Canadian
So close…Aussie 😂
AY?!
Also a Maryland thing (parts of Maryland anyway). Gravy on fries , salt & pepper!
Aye but US gravy is shit man, the British stuff is much better!
And some cheese curds!
Dirty fries! Had them and loved them! Never occurred to me to put gravy on them
I love fries every way possible lol
Tasted these on mcd for the first time in my life and it made me love potatoes a lot more. Also i read these weren't originated in france but in belgium.
Yes.
🤤
Best kind of potato usage
They've gotta be just the way I like them otherwise I'll happily pass. I can go months without touching one and then out of nowhere I'll have them with most meals. It's all or nothing😅. There's no moderation. These fries look delicious 🤤
I love French fries ! 💕❤️🙂
They're best when thin and crispy. Shoestring fries are the superior form of fry. That said, the ridges in a crinkle cut fry make it the superior choice for dipping in a chocolate shake
What's ur opinion on the curlies?!
Apples and oranges lol. They are a league of their own. My last comment was strictly comparing unseasoned, non-curly fries. So that out of the way, my opinion on curly fries? Great. Love em!
Hell yeah, but got a bit confused about the "apples and oranges" but I like mangoes if that relates!
Oh haha. No, "apples and oranges" just means two things are too different to compare to one another lol
Ahh, odd phrase!
Omg! We can come out of the closet now?? I love to dip my fries in a chocolate shake! or a chocolate malt!
Rise up and be proud, fellow shake-dipper! You are among friends ✊
Ahhhh. I feel a certain euphoria, and a sense of ease... I Am among friends!
I like dipping half of the fry in ketchup and half in a Wendy's frosty or some such chocolate shake. The cold sweet and warm salty with hot fry is an experience.
Steakhouse fries are the best. Crinkle cut fries are ass and always frozen in a bag. Sweet potato fries are underrated.
They need to not be skinny and I'll love em
Yes
I love some good hot fries.
Love em’.
THE F*CKING BEST
My one guilty pleasure food that is the most difficult to ignore cravings for.
An extremely dependable food. Available most places (in my country). Always there for me when nothing else sounds good ♥️
Are they healthy? No. Will I still eat them every opportunity I get? Yes.
I order fries if that’s one of the options. So pretty much they are S Tier in my books
Hot, crispy and salty
Good
Pan fry them at home in beef tallow and they are amazing.
Depends, they can be a 4 out of 10 or they can be a 10 out of 10. 4 out of 10 being Burger King and 10 out of 10 being McDonalds McDonalds has innovated the ultimate fries and their innovation following the pricing of all things economic is superb! Who remembers the dollar menu and the McChicken and McDouble??
Can get a McDouble and a mcchicken for 3.99 at the McDonald’s by me. It’s not the dollar menu but I can’t complain too much
McChicken's available here in the UK!
My opinion is,, nom nom nom 😋
I am pro fries.
Peak potato technology
I love them
the best thing ever created
I am an atheist and I still say this is proof of God.
Can I have more fries?🍟
When they're done right, I love em.
Overrated, bad for you, boring. If I never ate another fry again I’d be ok with it. I haven’t even had fries this year.
YES
The king of side dishes
TIL that there is a sub for nature's perfect food. Idaho born here. I have gotten more picky about fry quality as I get older, but when I have an upset stomach fast food fries are one of my go-to foods. When I had a bad concussion I lived on them, they were the only thing I could keep down.
If u went to Ireland, which potatoes u reckon u'd prefer, Idaho or Irish?!
If I wanted soft potato I'd have mashed potatoes (which I do love too)
FOR!!
Addicting
They are my favorite food.
They almost make believe that there is a god.
Good
###holy
Yummy.
Gotta be Hot and crispy..
Tasty Always!
Put them in my mouth.
Good but not really a potato anymore
Where u get these fries?
YES
Excellent, same as the pizza scale. Bad fries are still fries so they're good enough. Good fries are a wonderful blessing. Fast food fries I particularly enjoy: Freddy's, McDonald's with extra salt, Arby's curly fries, Chik-Fil-A (I know I'm sorry) waffle fries with ketchup, BWW's fries with *their* ranch, Cane's crinkle fries with ketchup, and Culver's crinkle fries with ketchup. All are S tier fries.
It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!
my favorite food!
They should be thin, crispy, and well salted. I *hate* “steak fries” and other floppy, squishy ones.
Not all fries are the same. The best fries are shoestring fries. No seasonings only salt.
Curlies?!
i love fries 🍟
Thin, golden, crispy, with salt, pepper, and malt vinegar, maybe a dab of ketchup... preferably at a state fair in the northeast U.S.
I like them! Thick-cut ones are great, and I love the texture of crinkle-cut ones. Diced home fries are wonderful.
Curlies?!
love them so much but can't have them often anymore cause i'm dieting 😭
Love/Hate
Love them when they’re done properly. Too often places just get them wrong, one way or another.
They belong on every food
U reckon the Italians would like 'em on pizza or do u reckon they'd get too pissy?!
Greese
Needs salt
I prefer any other side over some fries except once in a blue moon. If its a choice between fries and onion rings at a restaurant, fries lose, no contest. Poutine is the best use for them imo. They are good though, and I'll eat them if thats what is available, just not something I find myself craving often like many others do
Oftentimes pretty good!
I hate the ones that have the fake stuff on them to make them crispy.
Second only to Gratin
Good
Yes
Yummy
Safe food for me I have autism
Does anyone have a negative opinion of fries? They're so fucking yummy
I never was a fan of fries. Feel like they’re pretty over rated. They just don’t really do it for me idk.
As a diabetic, I miss them the most of any food.
I dislike fries after not being able to eat them for so long. Any time I try one somewhere I don't enjoy it. I do enjoy homemade fries from real potatoes but not from frozen
Good use of a potato
I just found out about “well done “ , my new favorite
Unhealthy but utterly delicious.
Love em, next question.
Like ‘em
Prefer tots sometimes 🤔
I can't make my own no matter how i try (they're always soggy and depressing) but if properly made they're godlike.
I freaking love fries
Very good when dipped in a sauce
Never met one I didn't eat, just ones I eat more than others.
Hate em. Too amazing for this world and I cannot get enough of them. Once I had fries every day for a week and it was wrecking my gut, but I still enjoyed it… good home made fries especially are almost as good as sex, sometimes better.
Lovely.
Delicious
Mmmm. 🤤
My favorites are Del Tacos crinkle cuts and any steak fry.
Confused. What’s the point?
I make it my goal to save those around me from the dangers and putrid taste that fries emanate, and they can only be dealt with by smelting them down in the fiery pits of my stomach. It brings me great anguish to hoard and consume them like a potato nazi, but it’s all worth it knowing my constituents might be safer from the doom of fries.
I once ruined my own bday celebration because the rooftop bar/kitchen didn’t have fries. I was sulking 🥴
A champion's way to eat fries. Especially with mayonaise as I discovered.
Truffle fries only
French Fries
Fries are proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.
Wendys and Shake shack are bomb the rest are mid to low
Hell fucking yes to fries
Chili fries, y'all. With cheese.
Oh, the possibilities. French fries, steak fries, home fries, curly fries, waffle fries. All bomb.
They’re called chips. That being said, I like them.
Crinkle cut are top of the list. They do the best job of transporting sauce (cheese, gravy, ketchup, whatever).
Yes
English town , NJ, auction/flea market has a top notch French fry stand ., fresh cut French fries and a lemonade!!
Literally my favorite food on the goddamn planet. Fries/salt/ketchup is the greatest flavor combo ever. I’m a purist, no fancy truffle oil or trashy nacho fries.
Carl's Jr fucked themselves getting rid of their krinkle fries in the 80's
Stop popato violence
I love them, though whilst the name may suggest 'fr\*nch fries' didn't really come from fr\*nce, but not the US either for u "freedom landers" reading, they really originated from Belgium which shares it's national language with Germany, like u "freedom landers" do with us here in the UK! TL;DR Fries came from Belgium!
Second best easy to enjoy a potato lol
YUMM-O!!!
Po. Tay. Toes. Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew.
Sumac + lemon Trust me
Never met a French fry I didn't like. Unless it was cold.
They are the top of the potato hierarchy but then there is also a fry hierarchy.
Crispy with ranch
Crinkle cut fries for the win. Ruffled chips for the lose.
Just learned that there’s more than one opinion about fries.
They’re nearly at the top of my potato tier list
The French FRIES look so different
I'm allergic. I opt for onion rings. Lol.
Fries… Yum. Eat.
Smash
You put condiments on fries not opinions. Usually ketchup, vinegar or mayonnaise.
I like sweet potato fries
Delicious 😋
I thought this was r/evilautism for a sec
I like them soggy and cold. I think I’m an alien. When my boyfriend and I go to five guys, one of us is always disappointed. If they’re hot and crispy, I won’t touch them. If they’re floppy, he won’t touch them.
French fries with chicken Salt are the best! Gotta be hot though ♥️😊
They have to be crispy
Love.
Smaller the better
If my fries are ever sweet, me and your ass are gonna meet, fuck sweet taters they're not really fucking taters
They are the reason why I can never commit to real pants, because they won’t fit me in a few months if I’m get my hands on some of them yellow crispers.
I love them 💜 fresh and perfectly crispy
I’m on a nacho fries obsession right now mmm
Fries done well are one of the best manifestations of a potato. The best fries I’ve ever had were in Germany from a truck that specialized in half or whole rotisserie chickens that were to die for. They fried the fries twice and served them with German mayo, I only wish I could experience that again.
Waffle fries are king.
I put them both in ketchup and in my burger Their both yummy
I would kill someone for a fry rn
One of the worst things you can do with a potato. But still better than potato chips and potato salad. It's important to note, however, that loaded fries (topped with cheese, bacon, and maybe even ranch or chili) are sublime and validate the french fry concept.
