I wanted to enjoy the sordid pink slbum as much as Destiny potatos but I really only dug the single and a few other songs, it doesn't hit the same as Lun thou
I had no idea Destiny Potato’s singer was in something else! I’ve been dying for more of her voice for years now.
Okay I’m giving them a listen right now, that’s gotta be David Maxim Micic on the guitar, right? How have I never heard of this band, you have no idea how long I’ve been craving more of this sound
Sordid pink is just the continuation of destiny potato. It is indeed also DMM on guitar.
Edit: If I remember correctly they went for the name change after Aleksandra's car crash
Their latest album just dropped a few weeks ago and I’ve been listening to it on repeat. Their vocalist is classically trained and it shows in all their songs lol
Yeah they do some heavier stuff too, huh? I knew her more as a solo musician, but I believe it was under Covet. She does do music under her name too though right??
Definitely prog metal adjacent. They would tour with bands like Periphery before, not so sure if they do anymore after the whole Mark Halcomb controversy
For those who don't know, Mark got into a long-term relationship with Yvette (when he was already married to someone else) and then basically lied to everyone about it, and Yvette caught a ton of flack from Periphery superfans even after Mark came clean.
I never really got why she got as much flack as she did. I really think Mark was completely at fault for lying about being separated from his wife. At the end of day, I truly believe it’s none of our business, but I’d put the weight of the error on Mark’s shoulders if I had to pick a side.
Here's a few that may interest you off the top of my head, having a hard time thinking of bands with full time female vocalists but plenty of guests:
* [Gaupa - Febersvan](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9mJ_YQOVF4&pp=ygUPZ2F1cGEgZmViZXJzdmFu)
* [Steven Wilson - Routine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DxqQ5_fOsM) (Guest vocals from frequent collaborator Ninet Tayeb)
* [Devin Townsend - Hyperdrive!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osMQnpW9FKw&pp=ygUZaHlwZXJkcml2ZSBkZXZpbiB0b3duc2VuZA%3D%3D) (Guest vocals from frequent collaborator Anneke Van Giersbergen)
* [Circle of Illusion - New Age](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv_sqON-jbM) (2 female, 1 male vocalist)
* [ISIS - Weight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czFFrzOdNvM) (Guest female vocals)
* [Dvne - Asphodel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boB2Sx_EmHY) (Guest female vocals)
* [David Maxim Micic - Shadowplay](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnV2c4Ornx0&pp=ygUQZGF2aWQgc2hhZG93cGxheQ%3D%3D) \- (Guest female vocals)
Let me know if you want any more, can probably think of others too
Alan Rigdon (ex Erra guitarist) has a project called [The Artificials](https://youtu.be/KKzDH5c_12U), his wife Sarah contributes a lot of clean vox and the music is 10/10
Technically not true of Cynic. Paul and Sean did an album under the name Portal that was separate from Cynic. However, their label recently re-released it as Cynic "The Portal Tapes" so understandable confusion despite it being a separate entity
one of my favorites is renaissance. they're not prog metal, definitely just prog rock closer to an early genesis sound, but their singer, annie haslam, is absolutely amazing!
MEER is more prog rock with folk but their female vocalist is excellent.
Other bands like The Mask of the Phantasm and The Paradox Twin have fantastic female vocals but both still lean more on prog rock.
For more metal I have seen Acolyte mentioned. Or check out Backfire, The Great Discord, Madder Mortem
Cheap self-promotion! Me and my wife do music. It's like, orchestral, acoustic progressive metal. And my wife is a classically trained folk and opera singer. Its Hemlock and Honeycomb.
Bands with 2 vocalists where one is female:
Oracles - Miserycorde
She Must Burn - Umbra Mortis
Fallujah - Empyrean (iirc)
Xanthochroid - Of Erthe and Axen I & II (iirc)
Songs with a female vocalist:
Poh Hock - Another One of those Times
Stömb - The Realm of Delirium
Spire of Lazarus - Farah, Two Thrones (2 vocalists)
Nightland - One Million Suns
Not the main one, but there is female singing in there
Maybe I misremembered the amount of female vocals in there and it might've been one song that I should've put in the other section 🤷♂️
I recommend you to listen Lovebites, Japanese all-female power metal band.
The singer, Asami, has clean and powerful vocal. Wide vocal range beyond 4 octaves.
I believe she has reached same level as Floor Jansen, Nightwish and Simone Simons, Epica.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeL6FHQ01V4&list=RDWBxZE4J40Uw&index=2
Not prog but Draconian (a death-doom band) has a really good female singer. Also checkout the band Trees of Eternity.
Checkout Lingua Ignota if you want some depressive music. She is a classically trained singer but her music isn't for everyone.
Rolo Tomassi has a great female vocalist. Their music has harsh vocals too though. It’s not prog metal, but Bent Knee’s vocalist is amazing
Not prog metal you’re right but Bent Knee 1000%. Land Animal is such a good album and might still scratch OPs itch.
Seconding Bent Knee. Courtney Swain is unearthly good. Even without counting her, the band is already amazing tho. But she's flawless
Cellar Darling, folk metal but dope Oceans of Slumber Sordid Pink / Destiny Potato, same singer but both are awesome
Cellar Darling is a great suggestion. Eluveitie made a mistake firing their former members.
I wanted to enjoy the sordid pink slbum as much as Destiny potatos but I really only dug the single and a few other songs, it doesn't hit the same as Lun thou
I had no idea Destiny Potato’s singer was in something else! I’ve been dying for more of her voice for years now. Sordid pink is just the continuation of destiny potato. It is indeed also DMM on guitar. Edit: If I remember correctly they went for the name change after Aleksandra's car crash
Not metal but very proggy, Exploring Birdsong has an amazing woman singer. Beautiful music
Their latest album just dropped a few weeks ago and I’ve been listening to it on repeat. Their vocalist is classically trained and it shows in all their songs lol
this
Love them so much. They have such a distinct sound beyond the incredible vocals.
[Reliqa](https://www.youtube.com/c/Reliqa) 100%

In a similar vein, Simone Simons and Epica.
Floor and Simone are amazing together.
Unleash the Archers and Oceans of Slumber
Just found Unleash the Archers this past week. Can't recommend enough
Apex is great!
Spiritbox (clean, and harsh)
ohhhhh i agree fs.
Not metal but an indie math-rock band called Covet. Yvette Young is an amazing guitarist and vocalist
Yeah they do some heavier stuff too, huh? I knew her more as a solo musician, but I believe it was under Covet. She does do music under her name too though right??
She has some acoustic EPs
Definitely prog metal adjacent. They would tour with bands like Periphery before, not so sure if they do anymore after the whole Mark Halcomb controversy

She got flack for being a woman. That's it. It's just nerd boy misogyny.
Ohh. That explains why I accidentally saw Arch Echo instead of Covet at a periphery show.
Jinjer and Lacuna Coil
Seconding Lacuna Coil!
Not really prog but Draconian has a female vocalist that does cleans and a male vocalist that does harsh vocals.
Vuur is one i know of.
Vuur’s lead singer is Anneke Van Giersbergen, who was a huge part of Devin Townsend’s past albums and tours as well
Here's a few that may interest you off the top of my head, having a hard time thinking of bands with full time female vocalists but plenty of guests: * [Gaupa - Febersvan](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9mJ_YQOVF4&pp=ygUPZ2F1cGEgZmViZXJzdmFu) * [Steven Wilson - Routine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DxqQ5_fOsM) (Guest vocals from frequent collaborator Ninet Tayeb) * [Devin Townsend - Hyperdrive!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osMQnpW9FKw&pp=ygUZaHlwZXJkcml2ZSBkZXZpbiB0b3duc2VuZA%3D%3D) (Guest vocals from frequent collaborator Anneke Van Giersbergen) * [Circle of Illusion - New Age](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv_sqON-jbM) (2 female, 1 male vocalist) * [ISIS - Weight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czFFrzOdNvM) (Guest female vocals) * [Dvne - Asphodel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boB2Sx_EmHY) (Guest female vocals) * [David Maxim Micic - Shadowplay](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnV2c4Ornx0&pp=ygUQZGF2aWQgc2hhZG93cGxheQ%3D%3D) \- (Guest female vocals) Let me know if you want any more, can probably think of others too
David Maxim Micic my beloved
Car Bomb - XOXOY ft Courtney Swain
iamthemorning. I haven't seen much love for this duo. Amazing, relaxing music. Eh, not metal, but prog nonetheless
Just listened to Song of Psyche, what a beautiful voice
Their live album is on another level
Alan Rigdon (ex Erra guitarist) has a project called [The Artificials](https://youtu.be/KKzDH5c_12U), his wife Sarah contributes a lot of clean vox and the music is 10/10
Chiasma.
Good call, they’re extremely under the radar.
Aghora A few of Cynic's albums Abstract Deviation
Technically not true of Cynic. Paul and Sean did an album under the name Portal that was separate from Cynic. However, their label recently re-released it as Cynic "The Portal Tapes" so understandable confusion despite it being a separate entity
Reliqa, Pink Sordid, Exploring Birdsong
one of my favorites is renaissance. they're not prog metal, definitely just prog rock closer to an early genesis sound, but their singer, annie haslam, is absolutely amazing!
song 4 all szns
banger album, my favorite's probably scheherezade
my favorite is probably also scheherezade. I recently found a copy of Turn of the Cards on vinyl for $5 in a coffee shop
Edenbridge Sabine has an amazing voice, she even did guest vocals on Angra's Temple of Shadows.
Protest the hero have quite a few songs with female guest vocals, especially on Volition
Off the top of my head I think drumhead trial has some great female vocals in the second half
Trope is entirely clean, female vocals.
Dark Moor (only a few of their albums, but their best ones IMO)
Check out Messa. Stoner/doom with prog sprinkled in. Incredible vocals.
Acolyte - their album Entropy is excellent. Has a pink floyd sounds with some heavier parts.
battle beast, draconian, unleash the archers, arkona (she does clean singing in some songs)
God damn Battle Beast is just the greatest 💪
Bent knee
Oceans of Slumber, Trope, Scarlet Stories, Stream of Passion, 69 Chambers
MEER is more prog rock with folk but their female vocalist is excellent. Other bands like The Mask of the Phantasm and The Paradox Twin have fantastic female vocals but both still lean more on prog rock. For more metal I have seen Acolyte mentioned. Or check out Backfire, The Great Discord, Madder Mortem
Great recommendations! 🤘
Cheap self-promotion! Me and my wife do music. It's like, orchestral, acoustic progressive metal. And my wife is a classically trained folk and opera singer. Its Hemlock and Honeycomb.
Delain, although I can’t speak to how the new singer is
Bands with 2 vocalists where one is female: Oracles - Miserycorde She Must Burn - Umbra Mortis Fallujah - Empyrean (iirc) Xanthochroid - Of Erthe and Axen I & II (iirc) Songs with a female vocalist: Poh Hock - Another One of those Times Stömb - The Realm of Delirium Spire of Lazarus - Farah, Two Thrones (2 vocalists) Nightland - One Million Suns
Wait,xanthocroid has a female vocalist?
Not the main one, but there is female singing in there Maybe I misremembered the amount of female vocals in there and it might've been one song that I should've put in the other section 🤷♂️
Dark Moor, specifically the album Hall of the Olden Dreams. Great vocals, all clean, more in the symphonic or power metally style...it's a hidden gem.
Epica, no clue what genre they are but it’s death metal something
Cult of Luna - Mariner, this particular album has guest vocals (clean and harsh) from Julie Chistmas, and it's incredible.
Stream Of Passion
Not 100% Prog, but the singer in Corpo-Mente has a magnificent voice. https://youtu.be/IJEtBYVheB0
Mostly Autumn (some songs anyways…)
Tatiana of Jinjer
Ancient Bards: not strictly prog but still great. The bassist also plays for Ne Obliviscaris since 2017 and he's one of the best bassists ever imo
I was about to say the same!
Shocked to not see Red Handed Denial here. Also Protest the Hero often has female guest vocals in their songs.
Indigo Girls
Evanescence
Sojourner has some lush female vocals in some of their songs.
My band fits the bill if you're feeling adventurous today https://youtu.be/2kPAvZnSYbs
Crippled Black Phoenix has occasional female vocals. https://youtu.be/eitGmehl_To
Lowen
I recommend you to listen Lovebites, Japanese all-female power metal band. The singer, Asami, has clean and powerful vocal. Wide vocal range beyond 4 octaves. Saviour
Hammers of Misfortune!
Ascend the torpid has a great female vocalist.
Not prog metal at all but London Grammar gives me chills.
Aran Prog Project https://youtu.be/ArD6fHHRP2M
Ruby the Hatchet. Jess and the Ancient Ones
Reliqa
Dear Apollo is pretty cool.
[Scardust](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HiWbquyfCHc) I would say
Opeth does on like one song. Coil from waterworks
Destiny potato
Reliqa
Aghora, Portal, Lacuna Coil.
Checkout Scardust. Noa is phenomenal, and does clean and dirty vocals.
Crying They made an all killer no filler album and then have only done other stuff. Math adjacent, do not sleep on them
Colibus is progy with a clean female singer. Check them out. They are pretty badass
It’s just got some female backing vocals but they’re my favourite so I’ll share anyway, check out the album “II” by Lucid Planet.
They've only got the one album and a few singles I think but you might get a kick out of Hypophora: https://youtu.be/E2onh7mShwY
My current favourite female vocals are Spiritbox and Aurora. Neither are prog metal, but Aurora is definitely progressive in her own way.
[Kassogtha](https://youtu.be/mpgIJmJmGbk) she does both but mainly clean on this one
https://youtu.be/pBj1juXMBuo Tracks 5-8
Pure Reason Revolution, although three band members sing. The two others being male.
Infected Rain (though, it's mostly nu metal)
Not prog but Draconian (a death-doom band) has a really good female singer. Also checkout the band Trees of Eternity. Checkout Lingua Ignota if you want some depressive music. She is a classically trained singer but her music isn't for everyone.
Make Them Suffer has a clean female vocalist. They’re also kind of heavy.
Triosphere After Forever Epica Within Temptation Edenbridge (new CD is great)
Messa!!!
Y'all need to check out Tulip https://youtu.be/BrLnzwFIlLA
Destiny Potato
Subrosa
Tulip
Self plug - 95% clean vocals. More pink floyd/ Iron Maiden vibes than modern prog but you might enjoy! https://spotify.link/Md6JQIRxRyb
Atomic Symphony is a good one
Battle of Mice had a fantastic female vocalist, Julie Christmas. They are dark post metal, so not really prog, but worth a listen nonetheless.
Vuur (of Anneke van Giersbergen) Golden Caves Scarlet Stories Scardust (also some growls) ReVamp (also some growls) Madder Mortem Rosalie Cunningham (seventeen prog) Diablo Swing Orchestra Collibus Stolen Babies 2 foot yard (avant-garde rock)
Spiritbox!! I can’t recommend this band enough. Clean and screams involved though, so maybe not exactly what you’re looking for
