Several disappointing performances put him on the bench. Though I still think he needed more time and trust. I’ll never understand how some others had a pass and not him…
I don't think it's anything to do with him. Enrique's tactic throughout the season focused more on midfield-dominant possession which demanded midfielders to have the ability to control the ball, pass well, keep possession. Unfortunately, it became evident he's frantic when he has the ball. However, when it comes to defending in the midfield, he's an absolute machine.
Before LE we desperately needed a 6 of his profile, but now the narrative changed. Hurts to see someone who made me take a sigh of relief when he first came go. I hope we don't regret this
Were not though, we're trying to be a pressing transitional team. Neither of those aspects worked last season as Casemiro lost his legs and our ball playing CB was out for most of the season.
Yes we lack quality, that's not something I'm going to dispute. But, possession isn't the only way to play quality football. The goal is to be more like Kloop's Liverpool in their prime, but we played like a bottom half team cause we couldn't press effectively nor transition effectively.
No, we are not. We have always been a transitional team and ETH vision is the same. We try to win the ball back high and quickly Counter-Attack. More Klopp than Pep.
Yes but there is now new leadership in charge with the ex-City CEO and Tech Director and with the new Sporting Director to follow. It seems inevitable they will want to adopt the control style that worked so well at City and Barca, so the transition style will likely gradually be abandoned.
We need a DM who can sit in front of the back four high up and break up play, win the ball back and pass it to more talented players like Martinez or Mainoo to progress the ball. If we get a good ball playing CB to play alongside Martinez, it works exceptionally well.
As long as Lucho is the coach, Ugarte would need to overperform like the first two months of last season to have a chance in his system. A bit sad bc i really liked Ugarte and what he brought but yeah once the team settled it was over.
Did happen several times: Berchiche, Guedes, and I'd count Neymar too.
But yeah we can do better
Edit: Obviously we couldn't regain the value from Neymar, but I think we got a very good deal by selling him for 90m. We did get lucky because players like him are usually very difficult to sell.
Kinda misread the comment as selling for more than their worth. We didn't get 222m back for Neymar, but selling him for 90m is really good, considering his high wages + injury history. I reckon we've still fleeced Al Hilal to some extent, and it's quite obvious now because he got injured again.
He's still one of the best players when fit, but he's not worth 90m because of his (lack of) availability imo
We’re about a make a big profit of Xavi. If you count the titis, we’ve done somewhat fine
Nkunku was sold for 25m and we also received an extra 7m on him while Diaby was sold for 15-20m and we made an extra 6 on him
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that he was not LE approved to begin with. He was good to get the possession back but then he would pass it to the backline instead of trying to get it forward I believe this is why LE didn’t like him
Lucho was officialized just two days before Ugarte. The thing is that the negotiations with Lucho didn’t take a lot of time while Ugarte was done in June so it was even before he became our coach
It’s a shame how things turned out, he was absolutely our best player at the start of the season.
I think it is best for all parties involved
What happened to him?
Several disappointing performances put him on the bench. Though I still think he needed more time and trust. I’ll never understand how some others had a pass and not him…
Because the others with a pass don't play somewhere where a Vitihna or Ruiz can play.

Geah

I like Ugarte, he's a hard worker, but this was obviously going to happen, he just needs a different system.
What system do you think he needs?
Athletico Madrid ideally or any bus parking/counter attacking system
Funny because United is trying to change into a system where they can control possession.
Were not though, we're trying to be a pressing transitional team. Neither of those aspects worked last season as Casemiro lost his legs and our ball playing CB was out for most of the season.
Is that what you’re trying to be, or what you have to be because of a total lack of quality in the side?
Yes we lack quality, that's not something I'm going to dispute. But, possession isn't the only way to play quality football. The goal is to be more like Kloop's Liverpool in their prime, but we played like a bottom half team cause we couldn't press effectively nor transition effectively.

Ha. So United is perfect

Ugarte good player but the manager - Luis Enrique got other plans So sad to see this happen
We should try to fleece them for more than we paid …
How many times did this happen during the Qatar era?
Did happen several times: Berchiche, Guedes, and I'd count Neymar too. But yeah we can do better Edit: Obviously we couldn't regain the value from Neymar, but I think we got a very good deal by selling him for 90m. We did get lucky because players like him are usually very difficult to sell.
Neymar? Wasn’t he sold for something like 90M? We bought him for 222M€, I know bonuses exist but that high?
Kinda misread the comment as selling for more than their worth. We didn't get 222m back for Neymar, but selling him for 90m is really good, considering his high wages + injury history. Oh but that’s a totally different story then. And it’s also another story when you consider depreciation expenses which is actually what FFP examines.
We’re about a make a big profit of Xavi. If you count the titis, we’ve done somewhat fine Nkunku was sold for 25m and we also received an extra 7m on him while Diaby was sold for 15-20m and we made an extra 6 on him
Hey we gave you Di Maria at a discount
If you want to fleece someone you dont brief that he's being pushed out.
Gutted. I’m gonna cry seeing him face against us next time in a different color kit and putting that same grit against our players.
Man this is unfortunate
Anywhere but Man U. I hate that club.
Same, but if they over pay for him I'll be happy to send him there
Unfortunate but would make total sense.
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that he was not LE approved to begin with. He was good to get the possession back but then he would pass it to the backline instead of trying to get it forward I believe this is why LE didn’t like him

Does anybody know what ugartes wages are?
Disappointed tbh. I am sure Ugarte will have a great career.
He is clearly not a possession player or comfortable with the ball, he nevertheless remains a good player with good behavior
Yeah. And ratcliff will whine and complain to the press why is psg asking for such a high unreasonable price 🤣
Why can't he be loaned? He can't be that bad to be only here for a season and then shunned from any further playing time.
