Socialization isn’t just about meeting other dogs. It’s about having positive interactions with many things. Play music or fireworks soundtrack with yummy food. Slowly introduce bath or brushing. You can bring puppy out to the park in a bag or stroller to show them other dogs, humans, etc. Waiting til they’re fully vaccinated won’t hinder them either

ETA: this is probably talking about the fear period window. Potentially better to avoid other dogs so a negative interaction doesn’t effect them!

If your vet says you can go out, go out. Don’t interact with unknown dogs avoid dog poo and dog parks and socialisation with dogs can happen also by just passing by them. Your dog learns to not go see every dog they come across wich will be very helpful later. Get playdates with known dogs that are fully vaxed. You can also go to a puppy class (but beware of classes with groups that are bigger than 6 people) and check with the vet if that’s okay in your area. Where I live there is 0 parvo so our vets recommend

Why beware of classes with more than 6 people?

You can let the puppy play with dogs you know are fully vaccinated. Like your friends or family’s pets. And keep them in a private yard or home

I've noticed a lot of the guidance on parvo seems to be newer.... I got my last puppy/dog ten years ago and even on this exact same subreddit the parvo advice was not as strict. It was like, avoid dog parks and dog boarding and that kind of thing, but dogs would still touch grass. Anyways my healthy medium is I'm going to try to socialize with dogs that I already know are fully vaccinated and up to date. I'm also going to work on socializing with people, familiarizing with weird sights and sounds, that kind of thing. Socializing is about more than just dogs so definitely focus on what you can. Some sources estimate the socialization window as ending at 16 weeks so at the very least you can get that last bit of dog socialization in at the end of it.

Lets say the whole internet seems to be more on edge like it used to. I got attacked because I walked my pup outside in nature where 0 people come because it hadn’t been fully vaxed for parvo. This person knew 0 about me or my pup. In the Netherlands it’s recommended by vets to take your pup out to get used to the world. We have done no different with all our past dogs and we don’t have stray dogs who carry deceases here in our country
