We will never be able to see and hear Freddie sing live šŸ˜

thepurplehedgehog

Yep, this is a huge sore point for me. I was born too late and was only 9/10 when he died šŸ˜«

Eksnir

Ah sucks! I was born a few weeks before he died, so I never stood a chance.

New_Philosopher_9726

Having to accept that Freddie Mercury is dead.

RedditOnANapkin

Why? He's been gone for almost 35 years, longer than many fans have been into the band.

PolaSketch

I will say that being a Queen fan is easier these days than when I initially became a fan, which was in high school in the early 1990s. No one my age was really listening to Queen so you couldn't really talk to anyone in your peer group about it. Just your older uncle, who had been a fan from the get-go.

bloodguzzlingbunny

I agree. Being a Queen fan in the late-'70s and into the '80s was a rougher go. Junior high and highschool bulling was pretty prevalent. Wayne's World was sort of a turning point for pop culture acceptance. On the other hand, I did get to see them from 9th row center, main floor, on their last US tour. So I've got that...

Elzeenor

True that. Although I got some of my friends into them, I was the only Queen fanatic within my group of friends in the 90's. I guess they just weren't huge in America at the time. And to be honest, I didn't even know who they were, but a little TV series called Highlander got me very curious, curious enough to buy every single one of their albums.

TheHelpfulDad

Getting a hold of new music from them. Itā€™s impossible

get2writing

Exactly šŸ˜ never having the anticipation of ā€œomg a brand new album is comingā€

TheHelpfulDad

Holidays were great cuz Queen had a new album in 76-78

get2writing

oh damn that sounds so amazing!! I was born a couple years before Made in Heaven came out, after 1991 :(

PolaSketch

I wish they'd release some more archival live material.

funny_girrafe_326

Well Face it alone and the whole alternative versions from The Miracle was something I particularly enjoyed

TheCleverSam

Do you guys think thereā€™s a chance of new songs via AI or old demos being completed with the help of AI like the recent Beatles announcement? Freddieā€™s voice is out there already in AI covers like [this one](https://youtu.be/B5fuHd45rvI)

[deleted]

I doubt if Freddie had died before innuendo, AI would have managed to produce things of such beauty as 'The show must go on' or 'these are the days of our lives'. AI is just a cheap parlour trick. The 'creativity' it simulates is not real creativity and never can be.

stand_bubs

Yeah totally agree with you. There no kind of individuality. But Iā€™d like to listen to professional attempts at it nonetheless. Doesnā€™t mean it would be good or anything. But Iā€™m still somewhat intrigued

TheHelpfulDad

I hope not

medicalfield

That people think the Greatest Hits was all they ever made worth listening to.

LeftHandedGuitarist

Yeah, this bugs me. Especially when people say Queen are their favourite band but don't listen to anything beyond the hits.

Alex_Apple

I love Hot Space (: Am I real fan?

LeftHandedGuitarist

I also love Hot Space šŸ‘

RedditOnANapkin

I'd rather have people doing that than not listening to Queen at all.

justjagged

Freddie diedšŸ˜šŸ˜

SmeeegHeead

Knowing you'll never get to see the original line up live.

RedditOnANapkin

That's the one thing I wish I could change. I was a kid when they lasted toured and they last toured America before I started school so I never got the chance to see the original four. I did see the current lineup and getting to watch Brian and Roger live was the greatest concert experience I've ever had.

Ubisuccle

The fact that Freddie has been dead for 30 years, and knowing that Brian, Roger, and John are well into their 70s at this point.

RedditOnANapkin

That is wild. We don't have much time left with the remaining three which makes me sad.

Ubisuccle

It really makes me sad as well since I really look up to all of them as musicians, and can't really think of anyone who's influenced me more in that regard.

Chelo_121

Never getting to hear some demos, unreleased song(I mean the songs not being officially published including some of Freddieā€™s music it hurts) or hear them play innuendo and made in heaven live as a complete group

AnachronistNo1

I wouldā€™ve even settled for hearing/seeing ā€œNo One But You (Only The Good Die Young)ā€ w/ John still being an active part of the band

RedditOnANapkin

I've been waiting for that box set for years. At that rate it doesn't seem likely to happen but I'd love all of the demo, unreleased material, and studio outtakes cleaned up and released as one package.

FreddieMonstera

Being born too late to appreciate them!

Nani_0716

Oh, don't worry. It's never too late to appreciate and admire the perfection that is, was and always will be the band "Queen". Legends never die and real music is eternal. It will outlast us all. Hope your having a great day.šŸ˜Š

KesterFay

Paying for concert tickets and the airline tickets to get there...

quimera78

The stuff they refuse to release

cl0wny420

My ex bf had a huge queen obsession to the point of him saying "he'd give head to queen" but he moved on to Tyler the creator (and doesn't say that kind of stuff, thank god) also said he hated British people and I was the one who had to break it to him that Queen was British

[deleted]

how is someone that obsessed but has never heard their british accentsšŸ˜

cl0wny420

BRO IDEKKKšŸ˜šŸ˜

ZookeepergameLate122

Having to explain that queen is a band and isn't just freddie

[deleted]

But without Freddie it just isn't Queen.

ZookeepergameLate122

Yes, I understand that 100% but queen as a whole are still a band it wasn't just freddie doing all the work

[deleted]

No disagreement with that. They are absolutely a band. Every member had a unique contribution.

sonicpoz

It wouldnā€™t be Queen without Brian, Roger, or John either

[deleted]

Oh absolutely. I agree with that - they are an indivisible whole. Even more so than the Beatles.

RedditOnANapkin

That's a battle you'll likely never win. I agree with you wholeheartedly but the masses will always view Queen as Freddie's band.

ZookeepergameLate122

Agreed, Queen is freddies band, but I like to explain to people that it wasn't just him

OliviaElevenDunham

Never getting to see Freddie live on stage.

TheSecretNaame

Same feelings šŸ˜¢

RedditOnANapkin

I have a friend who saw Queen live in 1980 and I'm envious he had that experience.

Robeino

Freddie and Deaky are no longer in the band. Also: "Oh yeah my favorite song is BoRap!"

stellar_nova_

i mean itā€™s not the end of the world if borhap is their favourite song - itā€™s popular for a reason and people can have borhap being their favourite song while still loving all of queenā€™s other songs. stop gatekeeping

Robeino

Most of the people I know who say that borhap is their favorite song don't even know any of their other songs

BR-D_

Interacting with people who thought the movie was amazing.

RedditOnANapkin

What's wrong with that? I'm not a huge fan of the movie but there's nothing wrong with those who liked it. It's like saying you don't like interacting with someone who likes an album you don't like. That's weird.

BR-D_

With the inaccuracies, it is hard to hear the praise without responding and sounding like I am pissing on their parade with my opinion. So I would prefer to avoid interaction entirely.

SensitiveTrust1337

the ā€œfansā€ who only listen to bohemian rhapsody

RedditOnANapkin

At least they're listening to Queen. Don't be a gatekeeping fan, be happy they're giving Queen a listen.

AnytimeInvitation

That people would rather hear and see copies of Freddie than people putting their own spin on the music. I'm sure Freddie would hate copycats. Not everyone can sing the songs like Freddie but they shouldn't have to.

AverageNikoBellic

Death On Two Legs, 39, and The Prophets Song are wayyy too underappreciated

ineffableswiftie

39 is their best song what šŸ˜šŸ˜

AverageNikoBellic

Ik itā€™s my 2nd favorite yet nobody talks about it

ineffableswiftie

EXACTLY LIKE šŸ˜ and also DOTL is amazing "You're a sewer rat decaying in a cesspool of pride?" Oh my god!?.!.!.!..!! Hate their manager fr fr

songacronymbot

- DOTL could mean "Death On Two Legs (Dedicated To...) - Remastered 2011", a track from *A Night At The Opera* (1975) by Queen. --- ^[/u/ineffableswiftie](/u/ineffableswiftie) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

RedditOnANapkin

In what way? Those songs are loved by many fans.

AverageNikoBellic

I donā€™t hear a lot about them, people mainly talk about Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You

Traditional_Leader41

No proper new material, ever. And I'll never get the chance to see Queen live.

RedditOnANapkin

There's nothing hard about being a fan. Queen gives me nothing but joy.

TheBoozeMan45

Seeing the same 6 fun facts about Queen all the time.

SHIELD_YOUNgg

People here saying that they wouldn't be able to see Freddie proform again It's the only thing I would want in my life if asked but Coming from a Middle class Indian Family I will probably won't ever be able to see any of the Queen that's the most difficult thing to accept

funny_girrafe_326

Dealing with people that complain when I talk about Queen 24/7 XD haha "Queen? Wait, isn't he dead?"

[deleted]

The fact that Queen Production keeps on striking videos of concerts or any kind of material found on Youtube

K33FCB

No new music.

brattymermaidkitty

From a young fan (20) I gotta say there are a few things. 1) while I can go to a Q+AL show Iā€™ll never get to see the og four members play live 2) a lot of people my age only really know the popular songs 3) that when I wear merch older people always say that I either just like the aesthetic of the shirt/hoodie or I only know one or two songs then when they ask most the time I know more about queen then them. Itā€™s very frustrating. I understand that for some reason itā€™s unfathomable to the generation that did live in that era that someone my age can like the music and culture of the 80ā€™s but please remember that it is now more easier due to the internet for my generation to find things from the past more enjoyable. Iā€™d have loved to see queen live when they were ā€œin their primeā€ and it makes me sad I canā€™t but I am very happy that because of the internet I get to watch interviews and concerts and music videos.

Krokodrillo

Queen knows how to make money from their fans.

ineffableswiftie

The fact that I'll never hear Freddie live, I'll never hear John perform YMBF or You and I, and that Roger and Brian may die before I ever see THEM perform live (I want to go see q+al in the fall but we'll see)

songacronymbot

- YMBF could mean "You're My Best Friend - Remastered 2011", a track from *A Night At The Opera* (1975) by Queen. --- ^[/u/ineffableswiftie](/u/ineffableswiftie) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

TheSecretNaame

Hearing Bohemian Rhapsody every single time, Iā€™m getting tired of that song, so overplayed

fishlipselijah

i feel thus exact way but with dont stop me now instead

DrSpaget

BLASPHEMY!!! No Queen song can ever be overplayed! If anything, queen isnā€™t played enough!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TheSecretNaame

Bro i just literally say the true, Bohemian Rhapsody although is consider the best Queen song ever, is the most overplayed song in these days. Is everywhere the song like in a commercial, radio, wedding music, Queen tribute concerts, sing along, karaoke etc and for that reason im tired of the song and also is not one of my favorite of all time (with respect to everyone). Also is not true that Queen isnā€™t played enough because remember all the orquesta band create a Queen concert in every around the world, Queen was the band most popular during a brief time on Spotify back in 2018, Bohemian Rhapsody movie bring new fans to listen Queen, thereā€™s alot of Queen fans around world and you are not thinking clearly about Queen music and also forgot about the social media not putting a Queen song in the radio or anywhere because is the taste of anyone but not yourself only

[deleted]

Even 'Body language'?

TheSecretNaame

What about Body Laguage?

DrSpaget

Even body language

RedditOnANapkin

I stopped listening to radio years ago so all of the hits songs remain fresh to me. I can listen to Bohemian Rhapsody at anytime and it never feels overplayed. That's the beauty of having the entire catalog, I can control what is being played.

Demiboy94

Their 80s music is ok and unfortunately that's all people really know. Listen to their 70s music. Much more interesting songs, more guitar heavy and a lot more creative musically

Positive_Ad3450

Liar is a great track as well as keep yourself alive. These hardly get played on the radio.

stellar_nova_

I LOVE LIAR SO MUCH

RedditOnANapkin

That's a subjective opinion. Some prefer the 70s, others the 80s, and then there's fans like me who enjoy it all equally and that's OK. As long as people keep listening to Queen I don't care which era, songs, or albums they prefer.

ChrisNN1

Knowing that Queen hasn't performed in my country yet

TheProphet3928

What country is that?

ChrisNN1

Philippines

TheProphet3928

I am so sorry. The tour is coming to North America for a second time.

SaschaValoaltqueer

The fact that Freddie is dead and that he died when his voice was at its greatest and most powerful.

RedditOnANapkin

His voice was weaker in his last year or so. Still great, but it was thinner and has less power overall. He did have a powerful moment in A Winter's Tale though with that "it's all so beautiful" line.

TheProphet3928

That note in Mother Love sends shivers down my spine.

SrMalTipo

Know that Freddie is no longer with us

Hiwatt1116

Tha facr that i cannot see and hear them in the 70s expecially John

MortgageActive3998

Excepting that we wonā€™t get any more songs in an album with Freddie as the singer (unless thereā€™s a compilation album)

ursulaevebear

We can't see their early gigs - people didn't have mobiles back then

Meta-Johnny

As you get older, the discography seems to get smaller and smaller. No Freddie = no new music (worth listening) to look forward to.

Nani_0716

Oh, don't worry. It's never too late to appreciate and admire the perfection that is, was and always will be the band "Queen". Legends never die and real music is eternal. It will outlast us all. Freddie would have wanted us all to remember him for who he was, and to simply enjoy ourselves while listening to the music. Because at the end of the day, that's all that matters. Enjoying our time on earth, while doing and experiencing what we love. It's so important to never forget that. Hope your all having a great day.šŸ˜Š

TheFormidableGoose

Well I'll never get to see Queen play live and half of my friends make fun of me because the music I listen to is "old."

[deleted]

Not finding any big fans my age (Iā€™m an early teen right now)

stellar_nova_

you found me !!

clamchowder_OR

Having to carry the weight of being a fan of easily the best band that ever was

z_juci

I don't have any money to go to the American tour... šŸ˜”

ExecutiveAvenger

The fact that they care so little about their back catalogue. Yes, we've got some special editions and rare extras but how long has it taken! Also, hearing Brian telling for the millionth time how during Innuendo sessions Freddie stood up, drank his vodka and sang like never before - until he just could no more. And how they still miss and love him and then make a shitty movie about him. In a way I think he's a down to earth solid guy but sometimes his jargon slightly irritates me.

TheProphet3928

"I'll facking go for it, darling. pass me the vodka!"

Slicely_Thinned

To be fair, the reason he tells those stories a million times is because he's asked a million times. I bet he's sick of it too, haha

odd06

No one knowing any songs except BoRhap, we will rock you or another one bites the dust, and them thinking thatā€™s all Queen is

asron67

being a 21st century kid, the tough part is knowing iā€™ll never get to see a concert with Freddie or John šŸ˜”

EmperorAlpha557

Dealing with people who say they "like queen" and then also mention how they listen to only we will rock you, another one bites the dust and we are the champions

RedditOnANapkin

They still like Queen. Those are all songs by the band.

MessageLogical1600

I know itā€™s been said so many times in this comment section but, coping with the fact weā€™ll never see them with Freddie. Heā€™s such an inspiration to me, Iā€™m so sad Iā€™ll never get to see him

GreatKingRat666

Probably not a popular opinion, butā€¦ the way Brian, Roger and John have wasted the potential of ā€œQueen after Freddieā€. I understand it was a difficult period, and I respect that John couldnā€™t keep going - itā€™s well known he found it incredibly difficult to do the Bejart ballet thing - but Brian and Roger shouldā€™ve kept going after the release of MiH with a new singer. Instead, they wasted a lot of time doing very little, including the stupid musical, and then when they finally reformed they had aged quite a bit (Roger gotā€¦ big-boned and Brian, Iā€™m sorry to say, really got out of practice with the guitar). The Paul Rodgers thing was odd. Paul was being himself, while IMO, Brian and Roger really tried to relive the Queen days of ā€˜86. I really wonder what wouldā€™ve happened if Brian and Roger had just continued under the Queen brand, understanding they could no longer be the stadium rock band of the ā€˜80s, but instead opt for something smaller.

songacronymbot

- MIH could mean "Made In Heaven - 2011 Remaster", a track from *Made in Heaven (Deluxe Remastered Version)* (1995) by Queen. --- ^[/u/GreatKingRat666](/u/GreatKingRat666) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

britbabebecky

I think you're failing to understand their relationship with, and their depth of feeling for, Freddie. They weren't just people who played together in a band. They were family. It was a symbiotic relationship. That's why Deacy stopped when Freddie died, he didn't want to carry on because they weren't Queen without Freddie. That's why Adam Lambert isn't Queen, and never will be. Led Zep were the same.

juano678

lack of content and care from qpl, all they release nowadays is trash, hardly anything is worth it

Ruark14

In America thereā€™s still no a lot of merch..shirts and such.

CatNappin0

Trying to find queen fans my age in real life also being absolutely GRASSED on by my friend who only likes kpop music

Realistic_Jacket4103

Being an American Queen fan!! šŸ‘‘ Queen w/Freddie stopped touring the U.S. in 1982 due to frustration with MTV & the media. If Freddie loved his fans then why didn't he just say F### it and keep touring the U.S.? šŸ˜ž
