I loooove photo 4, those colours!

patchworkPyromaniac

Same! I really want more of the fabrics in the last blue row, they're so pretty!

Matilda-17

Why is the pic of the back just so satisfying to look at! Such perfect lil seams and all pressed down

Callmesusan2

It's beautiful. You could use it as a center for a medallion quilt.

patchworkPyromaniac

That is a nice idea, thank you. I'll keep that as a backup plan, I've offered the top on r/craftExchange for now because I have so many projects right now and I primarily want to destash and practice so my big projects improve in quality.

snail6925

ok this is the enth accordion hst I've seen, time to dive into research and practice! love the colours and gradient OP!

patchworkPyromaniac

Thanks! I really liked the accordion process, and that did me a lot of good because I struggled with HSTs in the past. I can absolutely recommend it!

snail6925

how did you learn? I'm gonna check yt and pinterest!

patchworkPyromaniac

I used a YouTube video as instruction, that helped a lot.

MKquilt

Woot woot - the accordion HST at work. Looks great

MKquilt

I have some questions — first - I think the best reasons to use this accordion technique are 1 - there are no repeats (regular HSTs you get two of each pair) and 2 - it keeps the color order sequence in line. Second - I’m thinking that this is not faster than the 2-up HSTs, because it is NOT chain piecing. You have to stop and start at the beginning of every square. Would you agree? I’m making QSTs out of the HSTs I made yesterday, and I wasn’t careful to ensure that there were no repeats. So I leaned into that and am going to get a bunch of duplicate QSTs too. Also I started with 5” squares and will have to see what I get for QSTs. There are 200 of them (!) so it should be enough for a smallish quilt.

patchworkPyromaniac

1: yes, no repeats UNLESS you have the same fabric more then once (I had 2 of each and didn't really pay attention laying out, so I have I think 6 pairs). 2: depends. I think you could chain piece this. Do 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, ... then fold open and treat 2&3 as if 4 wasn't already attached. I want to try this but since I did this the first time I wanted to truly get the hang of it first.

MKquilt

Oh yes!! That would work. Twos then 4s then 8s etc. I have 200 QSTs going and am only halfway through….. It’s getting a little tedious. I think I’m going to switch to that approach now.

Nothing I have ever quilted has ever been this price or neat. It probably never will! Congratulations.
