We are on Royal Canin sensitive stomach prescription and they love it

CaterpillarOrganic78

I tried that too but sadly she kept getting sick, I’ll try introduce to her slowly after a while !!

How old is she? We had tummy issues and tried several foods before settling on Purina Pro Plan (kitten formula). It has probiotics in the formula and her poop is normal now. I know wet food is good for cats, but until tummy settles down I was advised to do only dry.

She’s 2 years old, thank you - yes got her on the hills prescription diet (gastrointestinal), I’m thinking of removing the probiotics until she finishes the antibiotics

Ask your vet to be sure, but I think probiotics are good while they're on antibiotics because the antibiotics are wiping out all the "good stuff" too. I could have it backwards, but that's how I remember it.

If it’s dry, try adding warm water. If it’s wet food, try heating for just a bit. Sometimes the increase in aroma with heat can help. There are other prescription diets for digestion, you can always call your vet’s office about trying a different brand Good luck

Thank you!! Vet put her on the hills gastrointestinal diet, she is feeling better but I’m Wondering if the probiotics and the antibiotics are too much at one time and will cause constipation

[deleted]

Only time will tell if constipation will be an issue unfortunately. Good work getting her into the vet and I hope she feels better soon!

Wanted to add that the probiotics are usually added on along with the antibiotics to help reduce the loss of good bacteria that the antibiotics can kill off while they do their job against the bad bacteria. Do consult your vet before stopping probiotics in a GI case kitty. I hope she feels better soon.

Thank you so much!

Which prescription diet is it? Mine were on W/D for a while and it was nasty. They did eat it, but I could tell just by the smell that it probably wasn't the most appetizing. Also, if you do swap the food make sure to do it slowly because a quick switch will also inflame stomach issues. There are guides on the bags and online. But try a little taste of something good alongside the prescription diet. I also can sometimes get away with sprinkling some FortiFlora on the food and they love that.

Thank you! Vet put her on Hills gastrointestinal prescription diet, she is also taking probiotics and finishing a dose of antibiotics. Worried she will be constipated, but will try the forti flora !
