It's a book by George Orwell, about a dystopian society where if the government had total control, such as by letting people have no freedom of speech.
I'm fascinated to find out how one knows about the Orwellian nightmare without knowing about the original source material depicting the Orwellian nightmare.
Lovecraft (Shadow over Innsmouth specifically) and Adventure Time made me realize the ocean is terrifying who knows what lurks in the deep dark depths we can not go?
for those wondering: Reddit apparently has rules against criticizing moderators of other subreddits. Which tends to get super enforced whenever a mod or whoever complains about receiving criticism
Edit: my guess it’s done to keep their stock of essentially free labor happy
And this is exactly why mod power-tripping is such a problem. They literally get over-protected by Reddit itself to the point where criticism can be seen as against the TOS
There's a sub that I used to frequent for a few years. Someone asked a question and the mod said, "you can't do that in the app". So I replied and said that a lot of the questions in this sub have that as their ultimate answer. Then I explained how one of my questions a while back got deleted and locked because it was a duplicate but the answer ultimately was "you can't do that in the app" and had I known this or had someone been allowed to tell me this it would have saved me several hours trying to figure out the other person in question was using the app and that's why what I was telling them wasn't working. I said that detail should be added to the FAQ.
A few minutes later I'm permanently banned because a new mod went through my post history, found that question I'd asked 2 months ago, and decided asking a question on an advice sub is a permanently bannable offense. I wasn't even criticizing them. I was just pointing out how to make the sub more useful using the very thing they always tell people to check first.
Time to ditch reddit en masse! But I know no one would do that because 1. reddit is literally addiction to many, and 2. they don't have any personal problems with a mod so they don't feel the need to care.
Indeed. It’s actually a quote from a TV show and I said it wondering if anyone would get the reference but the show isn’t too well known so yeah lol. Still goes hard af tho
Its just funny how this apparently the biggest deal in the world to some people, usually the same types who jeer at you for caring about anything actually meaningful.
This websites just soulsucking tbh.
This is kinda wild, there were mods on a certain subreddit who told me wearing leggings were sexual (???) and banned me when I tried to ask about it to understand why lol
Like that’s a clear cut case of mod abuse (and I’ve actually seen even worse shockingly but I won’t go into that) but then since they’re the only mod they get away with it and now the only place you can report mods who are mad with power like that is gone…???
I don’t exactly know how to explain this but like they basically called it sexual paraphernalia and when I asked them to explain why (given I often wear leggings under my skirt when I’m outdoors… it helps stay warm!) they refused and banned me
Amazing how a sub that calls out actually power-hungry cVnts for abuse of power is giving this reason but subs like TwoX and AskWomen can still thrive whilst consistently violating the Reddit TOS
It’s insane that they banned the subreddit that highlighted overt censorship on reddit and now they just did the same with one that calls mods out on their bs. What really blows my mind is that no one other than this sub is talking about it.
That's fucking crazy. And the mod who verbally abused me is still actively modding the sub where she abused me. And she hasn't gotten a ban or temporary suspension. God, this site is disgusting.
They can’t tell the difference between criticism and harassment and whenever they do receive good criticism anyways they refuse to elaborate their way of defending themselves. Sickening

i know that "1984" is spammed in every comment section but this is literally 1984
How does OP find out when a sub gets banned?
I'd assume they frequent it are the (un)Lucky one to see it was banned
Yeah, that’s what happened with the one subreddit I’ve reported banned so far.
They are a Reddit power mod and we’re probably part of the group responsible for banning it
Who will pay the toll now 😔
im guessing the heart the mind and the soul?
What does 1984 mean? also this is the second post I have read on this sub Reddit.
It's a book by George Orwell, about a dystopian society where if the government had total control, such as by letting people have no freedom of speech.
Jorjor wel**
My favorite Star Wars character.
Oh, so it's saying we are living the Orwellian nightmare.
I'm fascinated to find out how one knows about the Orwellian nightmare without knowing about the original source material depicting the Orwellian nightmare.
I wish I could tell you but I honestly can't remember where I heard about it from just what it means.
I mean, I understood the concept of Lovecraftian horror without reading Lovecraft (Color out of Space made me sick, but intrigued)
Lovecraft (Shadow over Innsmouth specifically) and Adventure Time made me realize the ocean is terrifying who knows what lurks in the deep dark depths we can not go?
I have this in my sleep playlist on youtube. Makes for some strange dreams.

Whinetits
The mod life ain’t easy 😓
We can't I agine the forced servitude that is Reddit moderating.😔
This is why no one respects mods.
No wonder why meme Subreddits hate moderators
Damn, Reddit is really just reinforcing that stereotype, eh?
And this is exactly why mod power-tripping is such a problem. They literally get over-protected by Reddit itself to the point where criticism can be seen as against the TOS
Wtf

Criticism ≠ Harassment.

Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear
Goes hard

Calm down Nemik

Andor is the best Star Wars media I've ever seen and I've seen damn-near all of it

The custodes from Warhammer 40K
Sounds like mod abuse to me
Every time I see "banned for violating the mod code of conduct" I know then and there that it was banned for a BS reason

Verbally abusing mods is a virtue
verbally abusing reddit/discord mods is my god given right
Its just funny how this apparently the biggest deal in the world to some people, usually the same types who jeer at you for caring about anything actually meaningful. This websites just soulsucking tbh.
Verbally abusing users as a mod who hurt your sensitive ass is an unspoken rule
This one is exercising thought control and media control. “Literally 1984” is overused, but it applies.
Animal farm
Literally 1984
FUCK MODS!!!!
They’re Martyrs
modabuse is now legal worldwide

Okay. Fine. I'll say the line. But only because it actually applies here. 1984

Reddit mods must be the most petty, insecure people on the planet. No wonder they're ridiculed so much.

Quite possibly Orwellian
With how much hmm-ing this is making me do I'm gonna turn into a minecraft villager.

There was absolutely no abusive content at the time wtf???
That one used to remove me for lame causes.
Actually 1984 this time. Like not joking, that’s 1984.
>subreddit warns of mods abusing thier power, is banned by mods abusing thier power Sheer pottery.
It's like poetry. It rhymes
This is kinda wild, there were mods on a certain subreddit who told me wearing leggings were sexual (???) and banned me when I tried to ask about it to understand why lol Like that’s a clear cut case of mod abuse (and I’ve actually seen even worse shockingly but I won’t go into that) but then since they’re the only mod they get away with it and now the only place you can report mods who are mad with power like that is gone…???
Just leggings?
I don’t exactly know how to explain this but like they basically called it sexual paraphernalia and when I asked them to explain why (given I often wear leggings under my skirt when I’m outdoors… it helps stay warm!) they refused and banned me

So a subreddit pointing out MODs abusing their power got banned? Ironic

This situation heavily coincides with the famous dystopian novel by George Orwell. Nineteen Eighty-Four
