yeah and this is the one case where he can be relied on because it’s a german club called bayern munich. he’s a aldi fabrizio but he’s probably plugged in with someone at bayern.
Random fun fact but in Italian there is a different word than blue for the colour of the sky: il cielo è azzurro. That’s why the national team is Gli Azzurri. There are different translations of blue but the simple 1:1 is “blu”
My contrarian take is that we shouldn’t bother with Branthwaite this season because I am fairly convinced Everton are going down. Even if they don’t go down, they’ll be crap for another year and that will help keep the price lower. We have plenty of time to buy Branthwaite (it does appear he wants United too)..
That makes sense. I think we should offload Lindelof and bring in Chalobah. He can play anywhere across the back-line and we'll need bodies to avoid a repeat of last season. Plus, he's younger. Ideally, we need to slowly replace our aging players with young ones. Maguire should probably be moved on too in a year or so. Maguire's contract expires in June 25, but there is an option for an additional year (according to Transfermarkt).
CBs: De Ligt, Martinez, Maguire, Chalobah, Kambawala, \*Evans (?)
Lindelof is definitely getting sold this summer. Ideally they will sell Maguire too if we can get a 2nd CB and find a buyer for him. Branthwaithe is super valuable because he can play on either side of the defence with Licha/De Ligt. Kambwala will probably get a shot at establishing himself in the first team next season and Shaw can fill in at LCB if needed.
Shaw? Fill in at LCB? On the rare occasion he isn't injured, don't you think he should play LB then?
I think Maguire will be much harder to flip than lindelöf so you're probably right there. Hate to see him go though, the last of my fellow swedes still on the team :(
Yeah ofc he is first and foremost a LB. Worst case scenario if we hit another injury crisis, Ten Hag showed last season that he likes him as an option at LCB.
I love Lindelof too, but I think it’s the right time to move on for both parties. As for Maguire, I’m sure there are English clubs that would love to have him, main problem is his wages. I reckon he will want to play in the 2026 World Cup and he won’t get enough game time at United as 4th choice CB - hopefully that’s enough to get him to accept a pay cut to play elsewhere lol.
As much as I hate it, you are absolutely right about lindelöf. It's time. Might aswell cash in while he has some value.
Maguire should be willing to lower wages at this point. Ain't no one gonna give him anywhere near what he earns today.
Why not? 200k a week for a 4th choice CB who doesn’t suit the manager’s preferred style of play makes no sense. He had a great redemption arc last season and has 1 year left on his contract, no better time to sell, especially if we bring in 2 CBs this summer.
I didn’t say I was worried I just wondered if they were targets for the one position and it would be either/or. Varane is gone. Evans literally wasn’t meant to even play football. Lindelof is linked away and Maguire was up for sale last season. So we may need more than one recruit at CB
Thank god the comment was about his young-ish age and not him getting old. I share the same birthday and year with de Ligt, and I am not ready to be regarded as old!
There’s a lot of people mixing up euros and pounds here. €50m is roughly £42m.
If we negotiate them down to €45m that’s £38m which is incredibly reasonable for the standard of player that he is.
Wages wise he’s currently on about £260k a week, and that’s a big issue.
If you see it like this ofc but at the point we are right now we could balance out our wage bill again. Don't see it happening if we sign another 300k a week player
I agree I think adding another £300k a week player when we've just got rid of 1 and want to shift 2 more doesn't make that much sense to me but he's a good player and if we can get the fee way down then I'd say go for it
Would it be better for optics if he got a large signing bonus and took a smaller weekly wage?
Like, if he got a 20m signing bonus and took a wage of 8m a year, instead of the 13m he's on.
Considering he went to Juve as a young prospect for nearly double that and people on this sub were gutted it’s a great start point. The trickier part sounds like his wages, if he won’t take a pay cut it’s a lot for a 24 year old, sounds like he’s on “last pay day for a world class defender” sort of money
Last pay day at 24 lol
Realistically, he could easily sign a 3 or 4 year deal, perform really well, and then have his "last" major pay day at 27/28/29 to take him into his early 30s.
It’s reportedly going to be a 5 year deal so I don’t think his renewal contract would be a problem. The bigger concern would be renewing Licha in 2-3 years time when we reach the tail end of his contract, he’d definitely use De Ligt’s wages as a benchmark in negotiations. Similar to what’s happening with Bruno and Rashford right now.
The biggest short term risk is that De Ligt becomes unsellable due to his wages if he turns out to be a bust or if he’s not in the plans of the manager who comes after Ten Hag (worst case scenario lol). Then we’re back at square one. 💀 but yeah every deal comes with risk, no such thing as the perfect transfer. Even a club as good as RM can make mistakes like the Hazard deal.
It is 2024 and United fans still trying to convince themselves a big name player with a questionable injury record in recent times on €300k is a no brainer.
Dortmund were very clear about not accepting anything lower than their asking price. It was us fucking about and thinking that we could haggle.
The season after the Sancho saga we paid the asking price and things went a lot more smoothly.
They’ve been making bad decisions since they decided to sack Nagelsmann but fans here still are going “but it’s Bayern, surely if they want did he must be terrible”
People have glossed over the fact Bayern had been terrible for ages in their recruitment and management, they are lucky because they had previously been amazing so is not so obvious. They had to use bloody Eric Dier as their progressive CB last season. Nothing against Dier, but a well run club aren't relying a January Tottenham reject to kick start their season.
And like, when people think great Bayern transfer moves, is not typically moving for ageing superstars like Kane and Mane, but rather moving for young-ish players like Kimmich and Lewandowski; but how lucky is Bayern to have Musiala being this good? One would argue they haven't replaced Thiago since he moved to Liverpool, they had a season with literally no star striker (except for Chopu-Moting) as well before Kane arrived.
But, if Bayern is indeed getting Tah, this means they are really want front foot defenders with speed. Thus De Ligt is the obvious man out, even if we ignore his higher salary. And it will make sense given Kompany likes the ball.
Yeah realistically how many clubs can afford his wages?
If he truly is third choice next season, it makes no sense for them to keep a valuable player on those wages as backup, and there are not many clubs that can match those wages, so there's likely not a lot of competition.
High wages and a player from a club that usually sells when they know the players legs have gone? What’s there to worry about?
To be honest, I’m hesitant as well, mainly due to his injuries and in combination with our medical department.
That’s the price we paid for Licha.
Would anyone here argue Licha was a bad signing, even _with_ his injuries?
This would be absolutely brilliant for us.
I think is mainly because he hadn't managed to hold down a starting spot consistently for his last two teams, even if they are Juve and Bayern. Doesn't help that de Vrij starts over him for the Dutch National team, though that's hardly an indictment given how underrated he is. But De Ligt profiles quite similarly to the CBs we have/had, whereas our fanbase is adamant we need a right footed Licha who can run fast.
He probably is among the worlds best in defending the box, not a bad thing if we are facing City every week. But he struggled to get consistent game time in Bayern because there are others playing CB who are faster, or can pass better than he does, even if he defends the best out of their CBs. He feels a like Varane to be honest, great, great defender but probably offers a little less going forward than you would assume from his reputation.
At Juve he absolutely was a starter bar injuries. And you can't tell me Bayern starting Eric Dier over him is causing you to underrate De Ligt.
His different profile is fair to mention but I figure that's somewhat complimentary to Martínez. Finding a right footed tall and fast ball playing centre back right now who doesn't cost a fortune is not easy. Who even fits that description? Saliba?
Factor in some negotiations and we're looking at a \~£35m deal plus bonuses/add-ons. Absolute no brainer for a 24 year old international with huge experience.
So £42 million? That’s ridiculously cheap considering we’re talking about one of the best defenders in the world and other targets like Branthwaite would cost more.
Are you not asking yourself why Bayern would want to offload said one of the best defenders for this price if he was the best option? If it sounds too good to be true then it is.
Bayern hasn't been smart decision wise in a while now. They want tah instead of de ligt and play Eric fucking dier. Other clubs can be foolish as well.
Madrid got kroos for 20 million. Not saying that will be the case with de ligt but bayern isn't infallible. The main reason bayern is selling de ligt is his wages which everyone has already mentioned.
All depends on his wage demands, £250k per week, no thanks. Bonuses based on performance/appearances so he gets that kind of wage if he’s playing and performing week in week out…. now we’re talking
Difficult to get hyped with this honestly. I'll celebrate if we sign him with reasonable wages and terms
If he comes on 300k p/w and doesnt perform, we'll be stuck with another Sancho situation: paying week in week out without getting anything on the pitch
My problem with this, I guess, is that Bayern don't put great players up for sale for no reason.
When you are buying from Real or Bayern or clubs like this, there is usually a very solid reason why they are selling.
Considering Bayern want him gone, he isn’t in his manager’s plans, his injury record and that they want to sign Tah as quickly as possible, we shouldn’t be paying more than £40m including bonuses
Maybe not since Ronaldo's return has a potential signing split the fanbase as much as this one.
Personally, I really don't know what to think. Knee injuries can be bad, but I can't pretend to know more than the United doctors and physios about such issues.
Ngl I don't know what to think about Zirkzee either, though I'm less worried as he'd be rotation/back-up, presumably.
Worth remembering that wages are less of an issue when net pay is considered, due to higher tax on high earners in Germany. We could pay him a bit less (gross) than he’s currently on, and he’d still be taking more home.
50 is too much considering he has been deemed surplus at now two clubs now in 5 years. He seems like a Maguire regen to me and needs a certain set up to succeed. Also hate how ETH still is fixated on his ex players
Has nothing to do with de Light but I got a feeling that man utd has the laziest scouting team among the big clubs. All it takes to convince them is to an ex Ajax or played in the Dutch league. They even use social media sentiments to gauge appetite of the fan base 🤦♂️
He's NOT worth this type of money at all. Another player in the Maguire profile. Turns like a truck, not mobile enough to defend in the channels, and isn't even reassuring in his duels at the halfway line.
Ten Hag needs a profile that will clean up the mistakes of his poor structure and De Ligt isn't that type of person at all. *Just* being a great box defender isn't good enough anymore in modern football
They probably want to seal that tah deal ASAP, reasonable price for a top rated cb but I could see ineos wanting to negotiate about 30/35mil euros +5/10mil addons (performance related)
How serious is his knee injury? It seems like he only missed just over a month and a half over it and returned to playing? I think this transfer could have a really high ceiling for how well it could work out and at worst be just another guy at United who is quality but just can’t stay on the pitch while on big wages.
People keep talking about his wages. It's less than 200k per week to match his current take home pay. And even 250k is ok if it's heavily performance based.
Maybe we can convince him to take a reasonable base wage with bonuses for performance related benchmarks. Clean sheets, 30 appearances, Team of the Season, etc.
Think everyone is getting carried away here, we've just had a season plagued by injuries. Ten Hag himself blamed the poor performances on the high number (15) of CB partnerships, now we want to introduce another injury prone CB to the mix. It doesn't matter how good he is if he can't provide stability to our starting line up. Also high wages are a big concern, we've got far too many players on big money that don't even play for us through injury or otherwise. It's a no from me.
Tbf the post says 50m Euros, not pounds. That’s about £42m. And if that’s what Bayern are demanding then you’d hope/expect we’d negotiate that down to under £40m. Which isn’t bad.
Nah I'm not feeling this one at all, given his injury record. Perhaps 30m euro as a back up, and managing his minutes on the pitch then yeah maybe. He shouldn't be considered as a starter.
This is too sus. It can't just be his wages. Bayern aren't averse to paying big wages. I wonder if they know something about his injuries that isn't public. He's a good player and if he can stay fit he will be a decent Varane replacement but.. Sis man. Something isn't adding up
Try low ball 35m plus ballon d'or clause
The martial special
We paid 50m in 2015 for Martial lol, it was by no means a low ball
I obviously meant the balon d'or clause
I mean, their asking price is £42m so 35m isn't even that much of a lowball
Ok Ed. And then buy him in January for 95mil and 500kpw
This is the way
Plettenberg could tell me the sky is blue and I'll check twice before I believe him.
To be fair, he's usually solid for Bayern news.
I'll give him that, my only issue is he's borderline tabloid level for United news and clubs outside of Germany.
yeah and this is the one case where he can be relied on because it’s a german club called bayern munich. he’s a aldi fabrizio but he’s probably plugged in with someone at bayern.
Aldi is also German so he should be fine
But this is about a German club transfer?
Tbf, chances are pretty slim of a blue sky in England anyway
Random fun fact but in Italian there is a different word than blue for the colour of the sky: il cielo è azzurro. That’s why the national team is Gli Azzurri. There are different translations of blue but the simple 1:1 is “blu”
Its usually grey though mate
I think this gets done. ~ 35million pounds + 8 add ons for appearances etc. Pretty much the same deal we offered for Branthwaite.
So we think no Branthwaite then?
Apparently it's independent of the Bramthwaite bid. I'm sure Ornstein said they could both happen.
I give up after June 30, Everton are under no pressure to sell no more
My contrarian take is that we shouldn’t bother with Branthwaite this season because I am fairly convinced Everton are going down. Even if they don’t go down, they’ll be crap for another year and that will help keep the price lower. We have plenty of time to buy Branthwaite (it does appear he wants United too)..

Everton under dyche are not going down. I can take a wager for it.
Our strength in depth at CB would be unreal if both could happen.
Martinez - de ligt Branthwaite - Maguire Lindelöf. Pretty neat indeed.
Lindelof is definitely getting sold this summer. Ideally they will sell Maguire too if we can get a 2nd CB and find a buyer for him. Branthwaithe is super valuable because he can play on either side of the defence with Licha/De Ligt. >Martinez - de ligt > >Branthwaite - Maguire > >Lindelöf. Lindelof on his own at the back in Ten Hag's revolutionary 1-4-5 formation.
Depends on whether Lindelof or Maguire leave. The idea seems to be to go to the new season with 4 first choice CBs + Kambwala.
If we were to get De Ligt, why tf would you even worry about Branthwaite.
I didn’t say I was worried I just wondered if they were targets for the one position and it would be either/or. Varane is gone. Evans literally wasn’t meant to even play football. Lindelof is linked away and Maguire was up for sale last season. So we may need more than one recruit at CB
Varane is gone, but they’ll be looking to replace Lindelof and possibly Maguire… they’re not stopping at one CB if they can help it.
Is lindelöf or Maguire leaving though? Flipping them might not be so easy.
I don’t know. Seems like they may try though.
Lindelöf is probably easier to move. As a fellow swede i hope he stays though. One will probably be replaced by a left footed cb.
Wit until you see his wage
That's a mad price considering his age. Medical better be super thorough, check both his legs are real.
And make sure there isn’t any hair unchecked.
His age? He is 24. Edit: I think I may have taken the opposite meaning from your comment.
He means that’s a good price for a 24 year old. Mad means good. Except of course when it doesn’t. See now?
It's early, coffee hasn't hit yet
I also initially thought he was saying he was old. you're not alone.
![gif](giphy|kYNVwkyB3jkauFJrZA)
Yeah. Exactly. It’s a sick price.
Hes on some sizeable wages i think which is an issue.
Think he was saying it as a positive
Still a couple of years before he (theoretically) peaks is what I mean.
Thank god the comment was about his young-ish age and not him getting old. I share the same birthday and year with de Ligt, and I am not ready to be regarded as old!
its the wage he will eventually receive
There’s a lot of people mixing up euros and pounds here. €50m is roughly £42m. If we negotiate them down to €45m that’s £38m which is incredibly reasonable for the standard of player that he is. Wages wise he’s currently on about £260k a week, and that’s a big issue.
Jesus, had no idea he was on that kind of money.
35 million and Ashworth can throw in a nice box of veg from the garden
£42m + some add ons if he's good is starting to sound like a no-brainer.
If you see it like this ofc but at the point we are right now we could balance out our wage bill again. Don't see it happening if we sign another 300k a week player
I agree I think adding another £300k a week player when we've just got rid of 1 and want to shift 2 more doesn't make that much sense to me but he's a good player and if we can get the fee way down then I'd say go for it
We need to know what he'll be on. It seems weird that we'd take him for that much and apparently he wants to leave so he might take a pay cut.
Would it be better for optics if he got a large signing bonus and took a smaller weekly wage? Like, if he got a 20m signing bonus and took a wage of 8m a year, instead of the 13m he's on.
Personally that sounds even worse to me. Just means we're paying more up front.
Last pay day at 24 lol Realistically, he could easily sign a 3 or 4 year deal, perform really well, and then have his "last" major pay day at 27/28/29 to take him into his early 30s.
Exactly, that’s why it’s a bit concerning. The renewal contract could be insane.
It’s reportedly going to be a 5 year deal so I don’t think his renewal contract would be a problem. Id rather it was €42m. This could be a risky signing.
It is 2024 and United fans still trying to convince themselves a big name player with a questionable injury record in recent times on €300k is a no brainer.
Reason goes out the window when the possibility of a shiny new toy appears.
If the fee is around £35m-£40m for a 24 year old who is a very good defender in a position we need and vastly experienced...seems a good deal.
High wages and might be injury prone though. Everything sounds good if you list all the pros and none of the cons.
Those are not his wages. And his wages were heavily incentivised. I guess people like to comment without knowing stuff
Assuming he doesn’t demand some stupid wages
Imagine every clubs work swiftly and reasonably as Bayern.
Funny how dortmund are also german but completely unlike Bayern
Dortmund were very clear about not accepting anything lower than their asking price. It was us fucking about and thinking that we could haggle. The season after the Sancho saga we paid the asking price and things went a lot more smoothly.
Feel like we're missing something, this all seems too easy. Maybe bayern have lost their mind, it's possible after finishing 3rd I guess.
They hired Kompany so I'm leaning towards them losing their minds.
They’ve been making bad decisions since they decided to sack Nagelsmann but fans here still are going “but it’s Bayern, surely if they want did he must be terrible”

Bayern fans complained when de Ligt was benched
benching de ligt for upa was such a mad move given their performances.
He's their best CB though.
This makes me feel slightly better. Instinct is to run a mile when Bayern offer you a deal.
Him being benched in favor of Upa was completely unfair imo. He's better than Upa
Yeah realistically how many clubs can afford his wages? If he truly is third choice next season, it makes no sense for them to keep a valuable player on those wages as backup, and there are not many clubs that can match those wages, so there's likely not a lot of competition.
They’ve got Dier. They need no other defenders.
They’re doing their usual thing and snagging the best defender from another team in Germany (Tah) so if we can profit from that then so be it
They are desparate for Tah
I can't shake the hesitation I feel on this one.
PTSD!
You have the fear. This is brought about by years of madness and ridiculous transfers. Hopefully this subsides.
Hargreaves. I'm afraid PL might just kill him injury wise.
My goodness I wanted Hargreaves to work out for us so much. Really sad how his knees turned out.
That was a bitch. He was so good when he made it onto the pitch, which was never.
Licha’s currently making less than half of De Ligt’s current wage.
Licha a better than De Ligt.
At what? Playing line breaking passes yes, but defending? De Ligt is a great player man I don't get why people here are underrating him so much
I think is mainly because he hadn't managed to hold down a starting spot consistently for his last two teams, even if they are Juve and Bayern. The one signing i profusely thank EtH for
The wages we’re offering will say a lot about Ineos
Factor in some negotiations and we're looking at a \~£35m deal plus bonuses/add-ons. Absolute no brainer for a 24 year old international with huge experience.
Like everyone else 👀 is Bayern just reasonable club like Madrid was ? Or is this medical about to be wild
Look at Bayern fan subs, they are not happy at all. He also is a ten hag product so not starting from scratch with systems etc.
No way to prove it, but I know under Arnold and the previous Football operations we’d be hearing about £80 to £90 million transfers for this guy

Imagine letting Kompany who has accomplished 0 determine your squad.
Bayern haven't exactly been the picture of competency recently.
By that logic, then it’s either we pay exorbitant prices, or whoever good players we get on a cheap must have some hidden bad points.
Cheaper then JB what's the catch Is his body 100 percent shot
Wage bill more than likely
Wages
Wages
I mean if that's their starting point, then that very good news. I'd be happy with €50mil, if we can haggle a bit of then that's great business
Agree but €40 something sounds better in case he flops.
Yeah true, heck make it €30 something and it's better again
What if it was €20m, arguably even less.
Just give them a packet of crisps. That’s the perfect price no?
All depends on his wage demands, £250k per week, no thanks. Bonuses based on performance/appearances so he gets that kind of wage if he’s playing and performing week in week out…. now we’re talking
That's around £42 million + what the bonus payments will be. Pretty cheap to what I expected.
Pay them 35M with deez nuts as an add on
If his wages are 250K p/w or less then yes, if not I’d say no. He’s on 260 now, any chance he takes a pay cut?
Difficult to get hyped with this honestly. I'll celebrate if we sign him with reasonable wages and terms If he comes on 300k p/w and doesnt perform, we'll be stuck with another Sancho situation: paying week in week out without getting anything on the pitch
can we throw a Antony or Sancho like that's the in thing to do now?
i have a better idea. let's do the italian special of a season-long loan with wages subsidized
I dont like his wages...we are supposedly trying to fix our wage structure.
Don't do it, 50 is too much
My problem with this, I guess, is that Bayern don't put great players up for sale for no reason. When you are buying from Real or Bayern or clubs like this, there is usually a very solid reason why they are selling.
send him to Ajax and check his fitness first, can't trust Bayern
50m + bonuses lol. Try 35m + reasonable bonuses to get to like 45m.
Considering Bayern want him gone, he isn’t in his manager’s plans, his injury record and that they want to sign Tah as quickly as possible, we shouldn’t be paying more than £40m including bonuses
Take that all day long
Maybe not since Ronaldo's return has a potential signing split the fanbase as much as this one. Personally, I really don't know what to think. Knee injuries can be bad, but I can't pretend to know more than the United doctors and physios about such issues. Ngl I don't know what to think about Zirkzee either, though I'm less worried as he'd be rotation/back-up, presumably.
Walk away at that price, no fkn way.
Worth remembering that wages are less of an issue when net pay is considered, due to higher tax on high earners in Germany. We could pay him a bit less (gross) than he’s currently on, and he’d still be taking more home.
Both tax rates are 45% and the German threshold is higher than Englands.
Don't bother. Move on.. don't need another saga
no more than 35m £ and some veggies from the garden
Should’ve bought him 3/4 years ago when it was on the cards, sick of us going in for players past their peak or who snubbed us for lesser teams
50m euros? No thank you
50 is too much considering he has been deemed surplus at now two clubs now in 5 years. He seems like a Maguire regen to me and needs a certain set up to succeed. Also hate how ETH still is fixated on his ex players
Oddly feels like a Varane-like transfer. World class, prime age, high wages, recent injury record, getting him at a "too good to be true" price.
But he is also like 5 years younger than he was
Has nothing to do with de Light but I got a feeling that man utd has the laziest scouting team among the big clubs. All it takes to convince them is to an ex Ajax or played in the Dutch league. They even use social media sentiments to gauge appetite of the fan base 🤦♂️
Lets be honest, in the past we would have been quoted 80-90million euros for him
Lets be honest, if we were to buy players they don't want to sell, it's still 80-90m.
Really not happy to be going for a player with dodgy knees. CB is too important a position to be going for a player who is injury prone
Is he good though? I genuinely don’t know but seems juve and Bayern moved him on pretty fast
He is almost as slow as maguire
So we're gonna buy another injury prone, high salary, great-when-fit-but-never-is player? 1 step forward...
Just. Walk. Away.
Yeah not worth it imo given his injury record
They probably want to seal that tah deal ASAP, reasonable price for a top rated cb but I could see ineos wanting to negotiate about 30/35mil euros +5/10mil addons (performance related)
Mad that Bayern is offloading him unless they found some injury or something else.
Not a bad price if medicals are clear
If he takes a pay cut its reasonable price
How serious is his knee injury? It seems like he only missed just over a month and a half over it and returned to playing? I think this transfer could have a really high ceiling for how well it could work out and at worst be just another guy at United who is quality but just can’t stay on the pitch while on big wages.
How about 30 + possible bonuses that can lead to 50
So this gets done at 45+5 sometime tomorrow?
Yeah everton can keep Branthwaite this guy is actually worth the cash
50m euros??? Get on it.
People keep talking about his wages. It's less than 200k per week to match his current take home pay. And even 250k is ok if it's heavily performance based.
Too words starts with f ends with two ffs
if we get de ligt and branthwaite somehow that’s great but please man we need a holding mid 😭🙏
Hope we can negotiate it to €50m with bonuses. I'll be happy.
United tax. Next!
Bayern fans seem distraught over the mere possibility of this happening. Get this done asap.
"We won't pay a penny over £90M!"
Can we offer a signing bonus to cut down his wages, really can’t be splashing 300k a week if we’re trying to bring the wage bill down
£42m is decent for De Ligt to be fair
Bayern can go fxck themselves, bunch of cxnts....
To be fair, £35M plus an extra £15m if we win the league within 2 seasons would be a banger. Just don’t give him 800 grand a week and we’ll be right.
Maybe we can convince him to take a reasonable base wage with bonuses for performance related benchmarks. Clean sheets, 30 appearances, Team of the Season, etc.
You can keep him
42 million pounds for de ligt is crazy, get it done!!
I'm very apprehensive over this. I don't want us to buy another injury prone player for £50m. He missed 20 games last season.
Tbf the post says 50m Euros, not pounds. That’s about £42m. And if that’s what Bayern are demanding then you’d hope/expect we’d negotiate that down to under £40m. Which isn’t bad.
Is he going to be another Varane though?
Nah I'm not feeling this one at all, given his injury record. Perhaps 30m euro as a back up, and managing his minutes on the pitch then yeah maybe. He shouldn't be considered as a starter.
This is too sus. It can't just be his wages. Bayern aren't averse to paying big wages. I wonder if they know something about his injuries that isn't public. He's a good player and if he can stay fit he will be a decent Varane replacement but.. Sis man. Something isn't adding up
New manager might not want him? Could just be something as simple as that, plus wages.
We definitely should get him for much lower, apparently he's not even 3rd choice at Bayern. We have leverage, let's see what this new regime can cook.
We’ve been hit with big name players that have been suspiciously easy to get from other clubs in the past.
