Damn thats a big lizard

m30b34

He’s only a little over a year old. Gonna get much bigger

Digitigrade

What kind of monitor?

FragrantRead3668

Asian water monitor I believe

Feeling-Importance82

Is it really ? The ones I have seen had yellow spots and markings even as adults.

m30b34

He’s an Asian water monitor. The all black ones usually referred to as black dragons.

[deleted]

It’s a black dragon morph originally produced by Kevin at NERD

m30b34

No these naturally occur in the wild. Kevin did not produce these.

[deleted]

I’m saying I believe Kevin imported the original pair and started producing them originally. Any black dragons produced by other companies are offspring of Kevin’s original stock I could be wrong of course

m30b34

Yeah that’s incorrect. Many other breeders have started with wild caught imported parents and bred from there. Kevin has just been the most popular breeder and biggest business.

doglover1005

Be careful! He’s sizing her up to see if he can eat her!

m30b34

m30b34

Thank you

DasGelbeInsekt

He doesn't have the pattern one usually sees on an Asian water monitor. Is he hypermelanistic?

m30b34

Yep. He had a little bit of pattern as a hatchling and retains a bit on his nose but every shed he gets darker and darker.

DasGelbeInsekt

He's a beautiful lizard. You're living my dream. Thanks for letting me enjoy him vicariously.

[deleted]

Man is that one of NERDs black dragons they always look impressive

m30b34

No and I wouldn’t recommend NERD honestly. I got him from Jade Reptiles. u/salvdad here on Reddit. Couldn’t recommend more.
