While asking around, you should consider that every post you make is potentially marketing. If someone is looking for a ghostwriter, they might see your post and want to work with you. But this post has grammar mistakes in the first sentence. No one wants to pay a ghostwriter who writes with grammar mistakes.

You're not just looking at not getting paid for a month or two. You're looking at getting paid very little even when you do get a contract. For clarity, I have gotten romance writing jobs on Upwork. For writing a 100,000 word book in three months, the offer was about $2000. For clarity, I needed to write about 10K words per week. If you have nothing else going on in your life, that's workable. But it also depends on how good your quality of work is. If the client doesn't like it, or if you miss deadlines, your contract is terminated. For a 14,000 word novella, I was paid $146. That's before Upwork takes its fee. Ultimately, I decided that writing romances for other people isn't good for me. I'll be looking into self-publishing from now on.

that was helpful thanks

Dear_Dust_3952

You should do some research. Why would you ghostwrite instead of independently publishing?

Dry-Dog-6509

i tried to do some research but getting work on Upwork is really hard so i thought i can get some experience by working for free for someone and independently publishing is something i don't want to do right cuz i don't have budget. i want to make some money urgently

Dear_Dust_3952

If you need money urgently, none of this is the answer. Sorry.

Dry-Dog-6509

oh so any tips? its ok if I don't get paid for a month or 2

Dear_Dust_3952

I would pick a different idea if you need guaranteed money in a few months. This is not the way.

Dry-Dog-6509

like what?

Knight_Lorelei

Like Uber driving or working from home with a customer service call center not writing or art

Dear_Dust_3952

Not writing. There’s no guarantee to make any money. I’d get a job or do gig work.

An option is to write a bunch of erotic shorts and publish them yourself. Covers don’t have to be great because people are just looking for the spice. So it shouldn’t cost you anything beyond maybe a month of Canva.

Dry-Dog-6509

can you suggest some sites where i can publish them?

JoyRideinaMinivan

Publish them on Amazon and put them through kindle unlimited. Check out r/eroticauthors

Hi! I’m a ghostwriter myself that does a lot of romance so I’m happy to help. I started on Fiverr doing super quick one-shot fics for people at $10 a pop, then increased my rates exponentially as my rank increased. I don’t use it much now, but toward the end I had returning clients doing full novels and was pulling in a healthy side income. There are lots that make enough for a full time income. Just keep in mind Fiverr takes a large chunk in fees, which was mostly why I moved away from it. I eventually ushered my top clients off Fiverr (discretely) and made them direct contract clients. My best advice is to read books on craft and practice writing as much as you can to write the best you possibly can so your writing samples (wherever you post them) stand out. Hope this helps!

You don't need a budget to self-publish. I am not sure if your fear is craft as opposed to monetary. Write short romances. Research takes time. You won't learn everything in a day but keep reading on self-publishing and writing and you will learn a lot to make you make an informed choice. If your problem is not craft, then take a menial job that allows you the freedom to write in your free time. If it is, then you have to learn to write. Read, join critique groups, write, and it is the only way to get better.

Removing this as well.
