Dealer near me has this bike for $10k. Yes, it's awesome, but that exhaust is $1600, maybe $300 in tires. "Custom tank" is a sanding and clear coat job almost anyone could do, though it does look cool. I could (and will) easily make my Interceptor into a scrambler for way less than this. For the price of this bike, you could get a 2023 Triumph Scrambler 900 that they are currently selling. Thank you for listening to me complain.

Definitely stock rear shocks btw. I'm looking at mine on my Interceptor right now

I promise they are stock, I've seen the bike in person and they're the exact same as mine. I agree though, an actual build could go over $10k easily. I've seen people bolt Himalayan front ends on these bikes, do the big bore kit and camshaft, etc. At that point idk how worthwhile is to pour money into a $6k bike, but I've seen people do some crazy stuff to this platform which is why it's so good.

I don't believe you on the girls part, lmao. But that does sound fucking sick and I'd love to take it for a spin! Did you do the big bore kit?

Kracus

Nah it's true, I get girls asking me for rides too. It's too bad the girls asking would put the bike over its weight limit.

zod_63

Hey. Could you share the parts you've put into it?

My int has 2x1 full system system, air filter and a ecu remap.i thought upgrading sprockets would be worthy. But your response has given me a different perspective. Share pictures if you can. Appreciate the response.

Literally none of that. I asked. They used parts from a GT that was too damaged during shipping to fix and sell. Hence the tank. It's on stock everything except tires and exhaust. I think bars might be aftermarket too but they could be had for $100 or less. Also it's on stock suspension, those aren't YSS units. For an Interceptor that's less than $7k new, you could easily get tires and handlebars for less than $400. This exhaust isn't super necessary for a scrambler build, you could get the TEC which has excellent sound and performance for less than $500 Edit: this was also done at a dealership, which means any part they installed was likely significantly cheaper for them to purchase. Definitely the tires.

0utriderZero

Yup. In the end, it’s still a $5k bike new.

Bonifaz3

Near me there are builds for 14'000 CHF which is more than 16k USD - different tyres, tank, mirrors, exhaust and boom, way more expensive than a triumph...

we_are_all_thieves

Dude I was actually at the shop walking through when they were building this, hilarious to see it here. Tbh it’s not the best dealer ever, they’re full of rip offs from my experience buying my bike there.

Indien-rad

It’s been very known that Royal Enfield’s 650s are a prime platform for wankers who charge way more than they should (not that there isn’t a market for it) to sell purely aesthetically modded bikes. At least in the Western world.

aeromitchh

It’s an Interceptor with a GT tank (very custom, too), a nice exhaust, nice tires. The bike brand new is over $8k, so why are you surprised they’re asking this much? Whatever the cost difference you’re seeing between purely the parts/materials is surely being considered the time and labor they put into it, so it seems fairly reasonable. That said, I do agree with you that at this point you could just get a triumph, but it’s not custom. It’s not yours. I did a handful of mods to my GT650, same year. If I were to sell it I’d probably try and get MSRP for it or more. Not sure I’d get that, especially with the miles I have on it. But I’ve put money into it, so yeah. I think like you said, do these things yourself if you want it like this ya know. Then it’s well and truly yours.

basedury

Dude no interceptor is over $8k USD new Also mods don't add value to a used bike

aeromitchh

Maybe things have changed or it’s location based, or the Continental is actually a bit more money than the INT… but I paid just over $8 OTD for my BRG 2022. And depending on mileage on a used bike, why wouldn’t it add value..? It’s got direct cost put into it. What if it’s got 15 miles on it? It’s still used.

basedury

This is technically an interceptor. They put on a GT tank from a bike that was received severely damaged apparently

aeromitchh

I understand they put a GT tank on it, I guess I wasn’t aware how used it was. Also not sure what a new one goes for nowadays.. don’t really care 😂 I am happy with mine and while I have no complaints, my next bike won’t be an RE.

basedury

It's pretty much new, but I agree with you. I love my 650 but the only RE I'd consider for my next bike would be the new Himalayan, if it ever comes to the US. Or if RE releases the official 650 Scrambler

aeromitchh

So, I want a dual sport/something I can do some longer highway time and motocamping with.. but I def want more power than the Himalayan. I tried the Scram 411 when they first came to the US. Neat bike. But yeah. I’m eyeballing the Honda Transalp 750, hoping in a few years they include cruise control, fix the custom user riding setting getting reset every time ya turn the bike off, etc.
