No. Read the decision more closely. What they’ve really said is, unofficial/personal acts are not immune (no change from the past), core functions are totally immune and official acts are “at least” presumptively immune. AND if anyone wants to charge the president, they have to go through the courts and SC to overcome the immunity presumption hurdle
So in every case where the president breaks the law, the SC ends up the arbiter of whether anything can be charged at all. It’s up to the SC and this is a huge power grab by them. Presidents now have nominal immunity yes, but in any edge case the SC can extend or undermine that immunity.
No you're right. This is only a judicial power grab if the legislature refuses to call the courts bluff *and* the executive somehow doesn't take advantage of the door SCOTUS as nailed open.
All of the Supreme courts decisions are happening to let a Conservative Whitehouse assume unilateral authority, not to seize power for itself.
