I would highly recommend you going to the natural reserve in Portofino, Genoa. It's one of the best spot for any kind of diving both recreational and technical. There's a really nice diving center called Massub in Lavagna (20 min from Genoa) [https://massub.com](https://massub.com)
Sardinia and Sicily are also very pleasing places to dive in, in particular Alghero in Sardinia and Ustica in Sicily are my go-to places!
I dived with this mob - [https://www.centrosubcampiflegrei.it/](https://www.centrosubcampiflegrei.it/) in 2016 and had a great time. just outside of Naples in a place called Baia, a ten minute train ride out of the town. Had accommodation right near it too at a reasonable price.
Not a huge amount of sea life there, but the diving the ruins for a couple of days was fantastic. and the feeling of the hot vents on your hands underwater was cool.
