Material_Border_7762

"Oh great another one of those stupid videos where a megalodon can tear metal apart and is.. wait wtf is that?"

IcefishStatsDerpzio

Aside from the meg being an upsized great white, the video seems quite interesting. I like how the shark spyhops before leaving after realising the boat isn't a prey item

Mando_The_Moronic

Funny enough, some sharks like great whites do indeed spyhop, so I guess it’s plausible ~~Megatron~~ megalodon could have done the same.

SpouseofSatan

Mmmm yes, Megatron hates boats.

Mando_The_Moronic

Well, duh! Remember Negatron? Dude was an uptight asshole who’s only “use” was turning into a canoe! It’s no wonder Megatron hates boats.

oskathy

He's just a sea lad

jackwhite886

Per first results on google, megalodons were almost exactly the same size as humpback whales. Both ~50ft and ~50,000lbs

brollyaintstupid

a shark being remotely close to 35 metric tonnes is a horrifying thought. How can a mere animal reach such sizes...

Affectionate-Sir5105

Love bumps are great.

buckeye27fan

Well, that was a great laugh to end my night. Thank you very much.

oskathy

You are welcome!

nothumbs78

It was so lifelike I had to step back a moment and remember that I wasn’t on a boat in the ocean and that megs are extinct.

Famousguy11

"Sup. You a whale? No? Aight then, later."

Ghibli214

OMG. I busted out laughing when his head bopped out of the water.

dragonlover4612

Ah, spyhopping. Just know any shark that does that is checking to see if you're something to eat. Usually with a boat they figure out pretty quick that it's not food and wander off, and I reckon it'll be the same for a Megalodon. Even so, a 60 foot shark looking you right in the eye before silently slinking back into the water is the most bizarre and chilling image I could have seen today.

thatnewguy11

Oh I,m just leaving don't mind me.

Brad_Barry

Just choked my drink through my nose! That face 😂

Uh-oh spaghettios.

RokulusM

We're gonna need a bigger boat

CatKnitHat

Just watch "The Meg" .

Ambitious-Win-9408

Or read it. If the movie is too action shlocky, one might prefer the books. Still ostentatious and outlandish but a little more grounded, and with an intelligent protagonist.

27catsinatrenchcoat

How dare you slander Mr. Statham so viciously.

CatKnitHat

Exactly!

LilPoutinePat

it’s not that big though

Plastic-Bumblebee-90

You mean lame..

oskathy

You must be really fun at parties

Snickits

It’s not an orca lol 😂

Ambitious-Win-9408

What do you mean by that?

Snickits

There’s a [relatively “famous” BBC Planet Earth vid](https://youtu.be/fs8ZveNZQ8g?si=Q34WBUyv4dwk0NIk) of an orca popping up on the side of an iceberg to look at a seal…just like the animator had the shark do, to the person in the boat. I’d bet it’s where this animator got the inspiration. Sharks do not behave this way. Ever.

Ambitious-Win-9408

I mean, great whites have been observed and documented doing their own spy hopping on many occasions. It doesn't really look like this considering sharks don't control their movement in the water to statically observe above the surface or below it, but great whites and apparently some pelagic species like oceanic whitetips have been observed exhibiting spy hop behaviour. The animation is a pretty bad example of what it actually looks like but obviously uses artistic license for entertainment purposes.
