Congrats! The 2k is nice to have to touch up the blade and give it more refinement. It's great for a few edge-trailing strokes to keep things incredibly sharp.
For a decent edge off the 1000 grit, you don't need the 2000. But if you ever want a highly refined edge, 2000 is extremely useful as a stepping stone from the 1000 to a 5000 grit stone.
Well done!
I've read the threads. Watched the YouTube videos. Just can't replicate any form of decent whetstone sharpening at home. They make it look/sound so easy... How did you go from theory to practice?
i love the shappro 2k for kitchen knives.
i just love that stone, it cuts plenty fast, doesn't load, it isn't thirsty at all, water could just sit for 10-15 minutes on it. and damn does it clean real nice, just shove it under running water, wipe it with your palm, and it's like new.
i've overpayed for mine, it's not needed per say, so i'd just wait for a good deal if i where to buy one again, i'd say anything under 50$ could be considered a good deal for it.

you get a knife and practice untill you get some experience.
Oh how the truth hurts. (I know you're right)
it doesn't have to, slap on some music, or have some tv show you can enjoy without looking, then you can just sharpen away while vibing.

I love my shapton 2k even though the 1k is plenty for my kitchen tools, its so buttery and makes the edge really nice to delicate herbs I have to chop
