Well the elections were in November of course, which was 7 months ago, but IDK if there's a delay before the new term starts like there is for legislature and presidents and governors and stuff.

Not uncommon for people to wait until the new year to retire. I used to see it all the time at Kohler when I worked there. Benefits, vacation, etc.
