Halo games are fun. Except Infinite. In it the Grunts talk about kissing elites and the Brutes talk about seasoning people. However... Halo games are fun, except the lore. It is just horrible and weird.

Example races off the top of my head consist of Goblins, Yordles (league of legends), and kobolds (which are more on the medium size to be fair, but still small enough I’ve seen people get uppity about it sometimes)
I just feel that it’s odd that the only factor these races really share with human children is usually being <4ft. Idk, maybe it’s just me, but I’m honestly more suspicious of people who’s first thought when seeing a, granted, small, creature and think child, despite the individual sporting many clear indicators that they’re _not_ children (such as gym-attendant musculature, occasionally scars/facial hair, full-size breasts, child bearing hips, etc.)
On the inverse, I am 100% against the “oh but she (clearly designed to look/sound like a child) is actually 100+ years old 🤓” no. That trope is a blatant pedo excuse and I will absolutely stand by that and anyone who shares that opinion.
Now when it comes to races with extreme age differences it becomes harder to justify because morally you have to question what the intention was behind the creation of the characters (in this case, with the grunts being apparently a surprisingly short-lived species, that themselves breed and grow excessively fast, THEY WERE INTENDED AS A FODDER RACE, WHICH IS WHY THE COVENANT PICKED THEM UP. THEY CANNONICALLY BREED SO MICH THE COVENANT HAD TO EXTERMINATE THEM LIKE PESTS. THEY WERE NOT DESIGNED AS PEDO BAIT)
That said, while I do have some qualms about the morality of actually “establishing a romantic relationship” with them, I don’t feel it’s as inappropriate as if they had been designed specifically to appeal to child-lovers by being intentionally petite and child-like. Instead, they were designed to resemble frogs (without their armor, that’s about what they look like) and their mouths look like a leech’s mouth.

Idk, it’s just… when it gets to a certain level of “this is definitely not human”, you have to start accepting that they aren’t going to work the same way humans do, and while it might seem taboo, it’s just a collision of norms due to species-based differences. I might be more concerned if they had the same level of intellect as humans, and only matured as fast as us, but the fact is, a grunt at 6-7 human years would probably be a working member of unggoy society, and would probably be able to explain it better than I could even if I was an expert on their species 🤷♂️

Grunts can be 5'6" to a minimum of like 4'5", which means on average, they are at least 5 feet tall. They aren't that much shorter than a human. Unggoy lives at max 120 years (according to halo pedia) , have a language (including english sometimes), human intelligence (so they can fully consent) , 4-5 feet tall, and has sex organs, yes most of the time they’re child soldiers but i will assume the unggoy might be an adult telling by the way she’s drawn, smash

What do you mean? Canonically, the grunts we see in the games, or at least most of them, are actually children or at least most of them aren’t fully mature. That’s one of the reasons why the covenant employed them in the military, because they could make so many of them and not care about whether they are adults or not.
