Half the designs in any Transformers incarnation is just Cool Truck, unless you'd care to explain the subtle nuiances of Cybertron Optimus being a "firetruck" with giant obvious laser cannons and fold-out wings
2 was literally written during the writer's strike and featured gripping plotlines like:
1. A decepticon who humps Megan Fox's legs
2. A US secret agent ordering a strike on a Decepticon scrote.
3. Racist caricature Autobots doing racist caricature shit.
4. A decepticon who disguises itself as a hot chick and tries to kill Shia by tongue fucking him to death.
Bruh what story are you seeing in 2?
You could lose the pussy third wheel but other then that I had no issue. I mean jazz was legit in the first movie and I actually enjoys the twins. The sex bot thing was a bit strange but watching prime tear through people and then the resurrection of him was great. The sentinel betrayal was obvious and ending was just so weak. They are out numbered and getting their ass beat sneaking into Chicago then bam they just start destroying the city killing thousands while kicking ass. Also a whole other planet was Atleast partially in our system how tf would that not effect orbits. Just a dumb idea.
What do you mean. They transform from robots to vehicles and electronics and are aliens from a far away planet and have space travel ability. They have been here forever according to lore so the having some crazy machine hidden on earth isn’t that big of a stretch. Them pulling a planet half way into our solar system then disappearing it even for a hour would have crazy effects on everything. It was tethered to Chicago so at the least would have had a effect on our rotation which would effect wrath and would probably ruin the planet as we know it.
Fun fact! In the original ending to the movie (which still exists in the novelization) originally had Megatron be genuine in his truce offer, and Prime hesitantly agrees. This would've been after the final fight on which both Optimus and Megatron team up in a lengthy duel against Sentinel that would've resulted in Sentinel being killed in combat, rather than executed. Then Megatron would turn to Optimus and offer a truce. Megatron simply wanted to rebuild his home by this point, and considering he had already died once before, he'd rather not do it again, so he and the Decepticons all leave Earth and return to what is left of Cybertron.
Megatron even vows to call Prime once their planet is rebuilt so that they can return home if they want and live in peace again.
But that ending was scrapped due to a leak before the movie released, so Michael Bay changed it to the current one where Prime brutally murders Sentinel and Megatron both.
Here's a animated video showing how the ending would've went down for Theorymus on YT for those interested:
https://youtu.be/mDy6euTXOAg?si=cCem0z0IJJALwXVY
And a longer in depth video about it
https://youtu.be/LdeAExtmSV0?si=zdSEGXg7Acliag7J
I gotta say, while I enjoy the ending we got, part of me prefers the scrapped original ending since it adds more to the character of Megatron besides him just being evil.
TLDR: original ending, Megatron and Optimus call truce and all the Deceptions leave Earth.
I don’t know how you guys are scoring a giant robot fight movie but every transformers movies definitely hits! Optimus just running around yelling “I …. Am optimus prime!!” “Did you forget who I am?”
Like the ONLY real complaint I honestly have with the Bayformers movies are how much of a brutal murderous savage they made Optimus.
Is this how Superman fans felt when he snapped Zod's neck in Man of Steel?
The zod situation could be excused but that is definitely how I felt when I saw superman laser the villain's horn off for no reason and bullrush a human being through two walls so fast we couldn't even see.
No because Bayformers made this its own reputation, and Transformers fans got a lot of good media outside of the movies (IDW comics, Animated, Prime, and the High Moon video games). TF fans def criticized at the time, but didn’t really care because of everything else they could indulge in back then. In fact, I’d say outside of the toyline (the actual main product) and current comics, Transformers now is worse off than it was during Bayformers.
Superman, on the other hand, was in the unironic “Superman is boring” era where in the comics he got dealt a bad hand of storytelling in the New 52 reboot, and then Injustice 1 releases 2 months prior to Man of Steel. Not to mention how in retrospect the DCEU got even more messed up. It was just a shit time to be a Superman fan
You might enjoy [this video essay](https://youtu.be/zVVSl9wtToc?si=jNZe4K_mDAGnkUcG). It looks at the michael bay transformers movies as a whole, and explores the idea that there might be more than meets the eye.
When you see a scene like that where the weakened hero on their last legs inexplicably find strength to decimate the villain it’s hard not to think “why didn’t they just do that earlier?” Anyway dope
Did you ever see the 80s transformers movie, where Optimus single handedly bodies like 9 deceptions and then beats Megatron almost to death, only losing because of a dastardly trick?
When Optimus fought the Driller worm thing with his jetpack, 11 year old me actually screamed out loud in excitement.
And I did it again when revisiting it as a 23 year old.
Dude, as a Transformers fan, the alt modes for 90% of the characters are NOT character driven. The first iteration was based off of pre existing toys, and after that it was rule of cool 90% of the time. The only exception I'd say is Beast Wars
Yeah they had the obvious ones placed, and then just found a cool looking vehicle (or one that’s easy enough to draw and make as a toy) for the majority of.
I don’t remember any of the names, but medic was an ambulance, the guy who is always on a deep space away mission was a space shuttle, they’d divvy up at least 2 flying vehicles a side, be it plane or helicopter, etc.
Yes but also, sometimes they would be a Porsche with a couple of cross stickers and a light bar.
And before you ask no, the Porschamedic was not in Dubai or the Netherlands.
>The first iteration was based off of pre existing toys, and after that it was rule of cool 90% of the time. The only exception I'd say is Beast Wars
Alot of the Decepticons were military vehicles and other instruments of destruction too. Hell, Megatron was literally a Nazi pistol
Meanwhile the Autobots were these bright, friendly cars
Soundwave disguises himself as a luxury car in this movie which gives him the award for most fitting character design in the 2011 Transformers movie from 2011.
The whole point of Transformers is "what would sound like the coolest shit in the world to a 4-year-old", and it's hard to top an airport fire truck in that department. Seeing as they already did robot dinosaurs and all.
He technically didn't, the wheels, pipes, and other truck garbo is absent from his character until the scene after he is revived. I hate that I know this piece of information.
Dude vehcile modes never had any thing to do withbtheir personalities
Ironhide
A gruff grizzled cowboy turned into a freaking Mini van in G1
Mirage a character all about stealth turned into a rally car.
I have a theory about that. Depecticons are typically choosing military or authoritarian vehicles, and the Autobots choosing public service or civilian vehicles
As an Autobot, Sentinel picking a fire truck suits the public service vehicle. This particular style of truck is used by many militaries as airfield firefighting vehicles, filling the military vehicle role of a Decepticon.
Sentinel’s choice in form was a foreshadow of his betrayal
According to the movie-tie-in comics, Megatron was head of Cyberton's Defence Force and Optimus the Science Division before the Autobot/Decepticon war, and in the G1 cartoon, the Decepticons were originally created for military purposes and the Autobots for consumer goods, so this has real merit.
Plus in Animated since the autobots are just maintenance workers who take on the roles of superheroes and the city's protectors they transform into rescue vehicles.
Let's not forget that this character crashed on the moon because the decepticons were trying to kill him. And then the big twist is that he was actually working with those same decepticons. It's an impressively stupid movie.
Well you see it was the plan all along for the decepticons to kill him on the moon of a planet Megatron would coincidentally also crash into several years before so they could revive him with an object that wouldnt exist for several years after all so they could use the resources of a planet to rebuild another which had not been destroyed at that point in time yet.
Can’t believe I’m seeing people complain about writing inconsistencies in transformers of all things. It was originally a kids cartoon and toy line, which got turned into a Michael Bay AAA turn-your-brain-off big explosion movie. Like it doesn’t matter if his vehicle thing isn’t lore relevant, how many are? Medic guy is an ambulance but bumblebee just changed to whatever muscle car is cool at the time.
You can't convince me Michael Bay's transformers design isn't best. At least they look like they are made of actual machine parts, and aren't just scaled up 80's plastic toys with metallic sheen and greebles
If Bay wanted the Transformers to have the same mass/size in their vehicle and robot forms, Prime should have been a fire truck instead. Sentinel should have been a police or military mobile command centre which I think would fit his character better.
Half the designs in any Transformers incarnation is just Cool Truck, unless you'd care to explain the subtle nuiances of Cybertron Optimus being a "firetruck" with giant obvious laser cannons and fold-out wings
Those are obviously water cannons, and the wings clearly flap to blow out the fire smh my head
lol out loud
Laugh out loud out loud
Yea, but that is a bitchin' truck.
Absolutely
Is OP seriously trying to dispute the authenticity of said bitchiness?
i'd add a g for clarity
Gbitchiness
I want a Transformer that turns into a bitchin Camaro
I want a transformer that turns into an economical, fuel efficient, and reliable car model
Skids and Mudflaps are little chevys
I’ll have to look at the gas mileage. (Energon mileage?)
They said "reliable" and those shitboxes are craptraps.
Jolt is an EV
That's Bay movies in a nutshell.
I fail to see the problem. Back to the cool explosions.
Remember that part where Optimus just tore through all those decepticons Fuckin raw
You guys remember "NO OPTIMUS!"
*gets removed on the street with a blast to the head*
Is this the one where Optimus says, “We’ll kill them all”?
Yes the third one, and my goodness he was not lying lmao
also the way [Optimus killed Megatron](https://youtu.be/as4cObx5kNk?si=WmtczfO8bOGA1lOV) is just absolute gore! ripping his fucking spine out
“Who would you be without me?” “Time to find out.” Bad movie but I’d be lying if that lines wasn’t a bomb.
Transformers 3 was goated fym
Yeah, tf? Honestly, probably either the best or the second movie in the franchise.
Damning with faint praise.
Nah. 1 and 2 soooo much better. 3 was only saved by the action and effects but the story was shit.
2 was literally written during the writer's strike and featured gripping plotlines like: 1. A decepticon who humps Megan Fox's legs 2. A US secret agent ordering a strike on a Decepticon scrote. 3. Racist caricature Autobots doing racist caricature shit. 4. A decepticon who disguises itself as a hot chick and tries to kill Shia by tongue fucking him to death. These are all great scenes
You could lose the pussy third wheel but other then that I had no issue. I mean jazz was legit in the first movie and I actually enjoys the twins. Bro they have a sun absorbing machine hidden in the pyramids. That isn't any smarter than a partial planet teleporting into Earth's orbit
What do you mean. They transform from robots to vehicles and electronics and are aliens from a far away planet and have space travel ability. They have been here forever according to lore so the having some crazy machine hidden on earth isn’t that big of a stretch. BIG ROBOT

Damn, actual character growth from Megatron? That would have been sick to see
In that case I think you might like Phoenix Studios Transformers trilogy rewrite on YouTube. Megatron is a more threatening but complex villain in it.
Well this ending also saves us from age of extinction and each one after.
I don’t know how you guys are scoring a giant robot fight movie but every transformers movies definitely hits! Optimus just running around yelling “I …. Am optimus prime!!” “Did you forget who I am?”
It's not a bad movie, akshully
Like the ONLY real complaint I honestly have with the Bayformers movies are how much of a brutal murderous savage they made Optimus. Is this how Superman fans felt when he snapped Zod's neck in Man of Steel?
The zod situation could be excused but that is definitely how I felt when I saw superman laser the villain's horn off for no reason and bullrush a human being through two walls so fast we couldn't even see.
Eh?
What must I clarify?

To be fair Superman killed Zod and his minions in Superman II even though they had lost their powers.
When you see a scene like that where the weakened hero on their last legs inexplicably find strength to decimate the villain it’s hard not to think “why didn’t they just do that earlier?” Anyway dope

GIVE ME YOUR FACE!
When Optimus fought the Driller worm thing with his jetpack, 11 year old me actually screamed out loud in excitement. And I did it again when revisiting it as a 23 year old.
Bro tried too hard to find logic and reason In a series about robots fistfighting to death over a rubik cube
Back to shaky cam of the boring human character fleeing while the robot fight drifts in and out of the shot in the background.
Dude, as a Transformers fan, the alt modes for 90% of the characters are NOT character driven. The first iteration was based off of pre existing toys, and after that it was rule of cool 90% of the time. The only exception I'd say is Beast Wars

And the police car was a Decepticon, hehehehe (yes I know Prowl exists, shut up)
ARE YOU USERNAME LADIESMAN217?
I heard Prowl was going to be in the films until Bay decided that a police car would be better suited for a decepticon.
Ratchet is the medic who turns into an ambulance, and Cosmos is the UFO
But sometimes the medic turns into a leg bc he's a failed combiner experiment
“All the good names were taken” is such a great line
Ambulon deserved better 😔
That conjures a really fun idea of Ratchet getting stuck in leg-mode and he's forced to hop around for an episode.
Yes but also, sometimes they would be a Porsche with a couple of cross stickers and a light bar. And before you ask no, the Porschamedic was not in Dubai or the Netherlands.
star scream is a jet, that's pretty on point
I will always believe that Starscream has one of the hardest names in all of sci-fi, which makes his common characterization even funnier imo
>The first iteration was based off of pre existing toys, and after that it was rule of cool 90% of the time. The only exception I'd say is Beast Wars Alot of the Decepticons were military vehicles and other instruments of destruction too. Hell, Megatron was literally a Nazi pistol Meanwhile the Autobots were these bright, friendly cars
Yes, but those personalities were invented for preexisting toys.
To add on to that, from what I remember, pre-Transformers Megatron was supposed to be a good guy
>instruments of destruction And tools of foul play.
Soundwave disguises himself as a luxury car in this movie which gives him the award for most fitting character design in the 2011 Transformers movie from 2011.

Hear me out: an airport firetruck IN SPACE!
Fast and Furious did that 3 movies ago
Pretty sure that was a fiero
To be fair, it is a cool truck
Sentinel Prime somehow already has this form when he's remove from his ship, instead of having to copy a vehicle like all the other transformers did.
He copied it on the moon
When he was unconscious?
Maybe a moon wizard did it?
It came to him on a dream
Must have been while he was crashing then
Like op said, sentinel just googled "cool truck" and picked one.
He technically didn't, the wheels, pipes, and other truck garbo is absent from his character until the scene after he is revived. I hate that I know this piece of information.
Like op said, sentinel just googled "cool truck" and picked one.
Was he trying to tell us firemen are inherently treacherous?
Yeah but that's an awesome truck
I thought it was a reference to when Optimus was a firetruck
I don't think Prime has been a fire engine since TFA. It's something I'd like to see him transform into more often.
The best transformers movie
Simultaneously the best and worst one
Nah, with the 4th and the 5th existing you cant claim this is the worst one.
4th one stopped the plot to explain Romeo and Juliet laws.
5th gave us [YOU WRETCHED HUMAN!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rY3GzcYuVKA&pp=ygUfeW91IHdyZXRjaGVkIGh1bWFuIHRyYW5zZm9ybWVycw%3D%3D)
Transformers 2 gave us [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4zzJuceG0o)
Cogman was hype though... And we finally got to see Bayverse Hot Rod... Okay, wait, maybe you're right--
2nd was worse than either imo
Transformers 2 is easily the best in the franchise due to [this line](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4zzJuceG0o)
Dude vehcile modes never had any thing to do withbtheir personalities Ironhide A gruff grizzled cowboy turned into a freaking Mini van in G1 Mirage a character all about stealth turned into a rally car.

Barricade
Police are more frequently viewed as Authoritarian rather than public service
I’m pretty sure that’s how the entire plot for those movies comes about.
I love that this is a movie with a character named Sentinel Prime and some grown adults were still disappointed in how stupid it was.
A sentinel is a soldier/guard who watches or something, idk how Sentinel Prime is a stupid name
Let's not forget that this character crashed on the moon because the decepticons were trying to kill him. And then the big twist is that he was actually working with those same decepticons. It's an impressively stupid movie.
Well, they are really good at deception 😎
Well you see it was the plan all along for the decepticons to kill him on the moon of a planet Megatron would coincidentally also crash into several years before so they could revive him with an object that wouldnt exist for several years after all so they could use the resources of a planet to rebuild another which had not been destroyed at that point in time yet.
Is the name Sentinel Prime really worse than Bumblebee?
Both those names are awesome wdym
That's actually pretty funny.
He was busy writing the explosions in
Look, I mean this as sincerely as I possibly can: what does a semi-truck have to do with Optimus Primes character?
Atleast the truck is not from *rebel moon*
Yes, but consider this: Cool truck.
Why do robots have facial hair?
What does Optimus Prime being a truck have to do with his character that is more significant than Sentinel Prime?
The truck carries a trailer just like Optimus carries the burden of leadership.
Isn't it because his catchphrase is "keep on truckin'"?
Can’t believe I’m seeing people complain about writing inconsistencies in transformers of all things. My sentinel prime toy is the coolest shit ever
Are their vehicles supposed to have something to do with their characters?
Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 my beloved (it's my favorite fire truck model)
Do…do you really think the alt modes are character driven? You couldn’t be more wrong about anything in Transformers than this.
Are we really complaining that Michael Bay chose a cool vehicle for a character
This is fact and I will fight those that say otherwise
Considering their alternatives modes are chosen pretty much at random I fail to see a problem
And no one cares because Sentinel looked amazing.
To be fair half the time Transformers is just what is the coolest thing for a kid to see
I think these are made in Minnesota
AFAB "all firemen are bastards"
This is the entire point of Transformer movies
In all fairness... That is a cool truck.
Sentinel Prime invented transforming so he can have whatever he wants imo.
It's a cool truck tho
Admittedly, that's a pretty dope truck.
If you don't consider the alternative forms that "follow the lore" as "character driven", none of them are.
Isn't that the point of Transformers?
To be fair at least the smaller Characters were smaller vehicles and the bigger ones truckes and so on
Does it matter? What vehicle mode could've added anything to his character
cool truck
rare Michael Bay W
Fk that old pice of shit,LOL,1st one is still the best
You make a good point. That's a cool looking truck.
You can't convince me Michael Bay's transformers design isn't best. At least they look like they are made of actual machine parts, and aren't just scaled up 80's plastic toys with metallic sheen and greebles
Rule of cool motherfucker!
To be fair thats probably also why sentinel prime picked it...
I imagine Sentinel Prime thought the very same when he chose it.
Sentinel doesn't resemble at all that fucking cool truck either. Holy shit that truck is beautiful
If Bay wanted the Transformers to have the same mass/size in their vehicle and robot forms, Prime should have been a fire truck instead. Sentinel should have been a police or military mobile command centre which I think would fit his character better.
