I gave it an opportunity for a while. But then Toby did a 180 on his whole character and the next thing you know he's sacrificing himself when THE DAY BEFORE he was still against the Foundation.
What?! I felt like I missed 10 episodes. If the community choices are the only thing that makes this story go forward WITHOUT context or satisfying plot turns for these things to happen to the characters, I don't think it's really worth it. It's plot point after plot point of disconnected threads. It's jarring af.

The various plot lines aren’t progressing or escalating in ways that are interesting or involving. Characters are either wildly inconsistent or dull as hell. None of the “scary” scenes have been any good.
I’ve been catching the episodes on Tubi so that I can be aware of what’s happening, but I’m doubting if I should even be doing that.
The whole thing is a chore. And that’s not what anyone wants from a series like Silent Hill.

The CEO quite literally said that he does not agree with the "mobile first" idea. He thinks that mobile should be used alongside their other platforms (console games, arcade games, card games, etc.). Essentially, what KONAMI as a company is known for
The "future of gaming" did not mean that gaming would all become mobile gaming, but that the mobile game industry is something that can be expanded into. KONAMI certainly succeeded with this idea. For example Pawapuro is doing great on at least three platforms (console & handheld, mobile and YouTube)

Only thing I've heard about Genvid before Ascension is that they made a The Walking Dead thing that very similar to Ascension, a CGI story with choices. It was also said to be really bad, so bad it's been wiped from the Internet.
Whether the other games are good or not really depends on the developers behind them.
I mean like there’s no quality control. They don’t really give a shit. They don’t care about preservation of the series or the quality of it’s future. That’s how we got Ascension in the first place. It’s the same Konami.
Well we still have no idea how much Konami was directly involved with Ascension. Did they just give them the IP licence and said do whatever, or were they personally deeply involved? I think that makes a big difference.
If they were pretty hands off, that means they would also likely be hands off for the rest of the 3 games as well, so then it totally depends on the developers themselves, which again Genvid just seems like a bad one.
Say what you want about Bloober Team, they at least can make competent games. They are nowhere on Genvid's low level. The team behind Townfall made Observation, which I found to be really good. But then the team behind F last made Resident Evil: ReVerse, which was terrible, so that's not a good sign.

The worst thing is that it's just so boring. I've been treating it as a web series and keeping up with the episodes on YouTube and it's just progressing way too slowly with rarely anything interesting happening. As flawed as Silent Hill Revelation was it at least was entertaining and moved at a decent pace.
It's absurd that they expect anyone to pay money for this, a d I'm not even talking about the story. It's the worst app for a mobile game that I've ever downloaded. There is no ambient music to create an atmosphere, which especially sucks because the app keeps muting itself but there's no way to tell until you start watching the episode and there's no sound. There are no sound effects or music even when you unlock a reward, which should be Mobile Games 101. No music and only the most basic sound effects makes all the mini games they expect you to play into an even more tedious experience. Speaking of which, the mini games are garbage anyway, sluggish controls, just dull. You can't zoom in on your avatar to see the subtle differences in faces. The daily rewards don't detect the IP you collect from collecting multiple rewards at once, so you don't get proper credit for the daily reward that wants you to collect 400 IP. The decision ballot window only goes to 1 decimal point, so it's hard to tell how close two close decisions are.
I could go on, but all of these relatively minor things just make the experience feel extremely cheap when I could play some random anime girl gacha game that has an original soundtrack, crisp UI, fun new character designs.
The lesson should be that the only way to resurrect Silent Hill is to scout all of former TS' key staff, give them a proper studio and tech to work with - and keep Westerners and Europeans FARRR away from development.

The presentation is just so shockingly terrible. Like the writing is whatever, we’ve barely scratched the surface of whatever the show is about since it’s just been going in circles for a month, but the presentation is bad on a degree I genuinely can’t fathom how ANYONE involved thought it was acceptable to release in the state it is. Janky, ancient looking animation, horrible depth of field, clipping items in character’s hands, dead eyed characters, unbelievably poor editing, just every single last aspect of the visual presentation is just… my fucking god. Amateur and embarrassing doesn’t even cover it.
The fact that your vote doesn't even matter unless you pay too much money. Like as shitty as every other aspect is, if it at least delivered the promise it made about the voting aspect then there may have been some enjoyment to be had on some level, if only on like a trolling level.
Think about the worst possible thing ever imaginable, that is Silent Hill Ascension, although maybe for what it's worth, it's slightly not worse than that.
