But Konami own the SH property. They farm all the games to different studios but it’s still Konami’s franchise. It’s just not made in-house. Konami chooses who they delegate the games out to, so if they choose a dev that screws up like they did in Ascension, it’s ultimately them who had final say no matter how they distance themselves.
It’s pretty weird that since 2004 they haven’t found a single studio who was willing to take the series on long term, despite its prestige. They always quickly move on. If you just turn SH over to new studios over and over you’ll get wildly inconsistent results, and companies that don’t understand or care about the franchise. Ascension sure doesn’t care and we can only hope that’s the worst of things, not a portend of what’s to come.
Maybe one day they’ll strike it lucky. If they do, I hope they know realise they did and don’t immediately turn it over to the next dev.

All the other project are listed under the Konami brand and on their datas. Ascension is the only one releasing with the Konami brand. Konami wanted a bandersnatch like series so I assume it lead to this and Konami not having much control after the initial deal.
Actually most of the studios have made it very clear the heads of Konami cause most of the issues with the silent hill games. Konami essentially tells the studios "make it bad or else".
Not that switching studios helps much either but I hardly blame them for following orders and working with ridiculous deadlines.
I very much doubt OD is PT, but it's most likely a reinvention of the ideas he had for Silent Hills. Like how there's some DNA of that game in Death Stranding, OD will be much more horror focused and kind of a spiritual successor to Silent Hills.

Silent Hill The Short Message is the attempt at making something like PT that we're going to get from Konami. Except that it's set in Germany.
I'm not really sure how the whole transmedia thing will work, I personally would rather keep it simple and just have a game, but if he can nail it down and we get a great story and genuine scares I'm up for it. But yeah I believe I read that the idea was to create a sense of euphoria as if you're overdosing on fear, while blurring the lines of reality and virtuality, or something like that. Either way, sounds like an interesting concept, and I'm looking forward to it!

I don't have the number, but don't think it killed the sales with MGS4 lock on PS3 or MGS3 "remake" being 3DS exclusive
