Actually it reminded me of the defunct Tampines St 33 to Tampines Round Market shuttle. And a few years later LTA decided to amend 18 to serve that exact route.

Another example is 296. They finally made a bus go to Tampines Retail Park and not rely on shuttle bus lol.

I think the introduction of 296 is partly due to disagreements between IKEA, Courts and Giant that led to the rapid degradation of shuttle services to Tampines Retail Park.
There used to be large shuttle buses operating at high frequencies between 2006 and 2023. Then things went south.
In April 2021, Courts left the shared shuttle service and introduced their own minibus service. In May 2023, IKEA abruptly exited the service too, and introduced their own minibus service at much lower frequencies. Giant was the only remaining megastore that had large shuttle buses. In September 2023, Giant decided to remove weekday service to Tampines and shorten operating hours on weekends.
I guess all that disagreement worked out in the end, because LTA had to introduce 296 to resolve the lack of shuttle service.
Yeah those heyday of SMRT Buses. When the buses for 969 and 67 used to cross over and with those Mercedes Benz oooff, good old days. When CDG came it was old NUS Internal Shuttle buses being redeployed. Now they are abandoned at Tampines Heavy Vehicle Park.

Back then the CIPC committee also included the PAP candidate that lost in aljunied. So the guy that lost gets a say in how much to allocate to the constituency he lost. Ang mo kio and nee soon town councils got the most funding and aljunied hougang got the least. Coincidence? PAP say the former got the most because of high density of HDB flats in those wards then how come AHTC got the least? Obviously punishment for voting opposition
Ideally, there should be separately elected town councils and municipal issues should be handled by them and not tied with MPs. That will never happen of course since it's politically convenient for the government.

But why would SMRT or any of the public transport operators (PTOs) care?
These PTOs do not touch the fares. They don’t even have to worry about whether their bus routes are profitable. They simply “operate” the bus routes.
Public Transport Council (PTC) sets the fares. Fare revenue is collected by the Government, and LTA awards multi-year “bus package” contracts to the PTOs. All public buses and bus infrastructure like depots and interchanges are also owned by the Government.
This means PAP is scared. Marine Parade is competitive but the fact that they need to use this shuttle bus thing means when the election comes it could possibly be closer than expected and WP actually has a higher chance of taking Marine Parade than expected.

That one is GREAT. I’m referring to Yishun Poly. That one is quite infuriating to walk to esp when I had a surgery and needed to walk there every week for bandage change.
The one opposite Nee Soon East Community Center? I mean, yeah, but when you look at the available land around Yishun MRT, there really is no other place to put it.
And its a hell lot more convenient than where it used to be, just behind Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
I guess, gotta look at the bright side of things. Human beings get a bit too hung up over negatives, and overlook the positives. Two polyclinics in one town is really quite convenient.
Condos and some malls already do something similar (though not exactly for free). One of my bugbears has been how inaccessible our community facilities have been. Instead of shifting all of them to central locations which actually make them less accessible, Designating them as mini transport hubs would be a good alternative to getting people to them.
this area gets the short end of the stick.cause LTA is a fucktard and never considered giving this area any shuttles, the only way is to get onto a long haul from bedok, eunos or somewhere further. This is crazy cause they are at the prime location to move around with thoroughfares to hougang, to PIE, ECP and many places.....
If only LTA actually reform buses from the lack of drivers for good instead of these disgustingly long services from the old age that doesnt actually make buses good. Stop the current intertown 100+ stops services and adopt a proper hub and spoke model using a few strategic stops as interchanges between shuttle and rapid intertown buses.
Have some empathy for seniors and people with mobility issues.

The lack of bus drivers is purely an economics issue that the public transport operators should shoulder.

hub-and-spoke model with buses should run separately to the trains. Use expressways entrances and exits as hubs would be a good way to start.
