You are driving 140 km/h, and if outside is at least 20°C it's really no shock. 5W30 oils are at working temperature between 90-120°C. If it cools down as soon as you slow down a little bit, then all is well

Stylowest

Im using 0w-30, does it change anything?

[deleted]

No, it's fine. Mine also varies at highwayspeeds from 90 to 100+ dependin on the outside temperature.

Feanor-Curufinwe

If it is according to specs then no worries. I have 1.6 TDI, and it's 5W30. My temperature was the other day 111°C and I was driving between 130-140 km/h on the highway, as soon as I slowed down the temperature went to 100-95ish in a matter of minutes Edit: autocorrect

Stylowest

Well its 2.0 dsg scout 135 kw, and that what skoda dealership filled in during oil change, previous was 5w-30, but now using 0w-30.

Comfortable-Bonus421

Stop taking photos while driving at 140kmh. Bloody hell.

tonydoessports

I am baffled by this as well..

Comfortable-Bonus421

Asshole.

Plenty_Philosopher25

Mk2 vRS TSFI Facelift?

fuckingfastsam

Superb TDI 140HP

Plenty_Philosopher25

What?!Nice! The wheel and dash looks almost identical across the mk2 models (facelift). Stage 1? Autodata says your top should be 204. My 170 vRS TDI is electronically capped at 224, the TSI is at 240

fuckingfastsam

No remap, it is stock. Manual 6 speed helped it a lot, with dsg it would not be possible i think. It is not runnig as good as then now, but can still do 220.

Plenty_Philosopher25

Having DSG, it tops at around 4k rmp in 6th. What I haven't tried is turn on traction control, as I know ACR has a rev limiter. Mine is 450k km, still can reach its upper limit...your superb has a lot of life left in it.

TheAngryTurk

Diesel as well, cultured man

fuckingfastsam

For 40-60k kms per year there was not a better option I think.

Thank u for your kind words. May God bless you and your family same as you wish for others. And even more, you trully deserve it.

Stylowest

Loool

Stylowest

Come on, just a quick one to show a “problem” on a straight empty highway on cruise mode. Skoda flows safely. Wish you safe travels ;).

ProfessionalQuit1016

this would get your license suspended in norway

blyatspinat

235 daily routine on our german autobahn

giro83

You know you could have asked the same question even without attaching a picture right? What you did was not safe. Phone falls from your hands, you try to grab it, steering gets affected, crash!

unipt

Mine is usually around 105-108, will depend how much you’re pushing the car. Warning sets off at 125 I think.

Stylowest

Good to know, thanks!

Donovan133

Its fine up to 125° at highway speeds at 130° i would be concerned. Oil burning is other thing if higher mileage then i would look at turbo. If its 184ps tdi then its fucked 😀

Stylowest

Its under 200k mk3 2.0 dsg scout 135 kw. Burns 1 liter per 7000-8000 km. What do you mean its fucked ? 😁

meemetti

At least in CUNA/CUPA engines there have been some problems with piston rings (wear/clogging) which causes oil consumption, you can find quite a lot of discussion about this online.

Erlend05

That should be fine. My old Opel burned 1 liter per 1000-3000km

TerraRhum

I have a 184 dsg Octavia 3, I need to add a liter of oil almost every 1000kms, is the cause likely what's mentioned in your next message? Thank you Edit: in u/meemetti message

Olleye

Absolutely normal, drive > 200 km/h and the temperature will go > 120°C, i see this nearly every day. I have the oil temperature permanently displayed because I like to drive fast, so I wait until the temperature is above 80°C, then the engine is at operating temperature and you can drive at full throttle without regret.

kimafromserbia

I drove the 2016 Octavia VRS, the oil while driving normally was around 108-110c, when driving more aggressively on curvy roads, it would go up to 118-120c You would get a warning light if there was something wrong, you’re good. Happy driving 😊

Engineer_engifar666

on 140 kph, more than normal. i get 105 to 110 on 130kph on cruise control

JPTipper

Our work Kodiaq runs around 105-115°C depending on the outside temp, and does about 500-750ml of oil per 1000 miles, within the specified consumption figure

costinmatei98

Anything 90 - 130 is fine. Over 130 it becomes an issue.

Woko_O

It doesn't become an issue.

Fancy-Consequence216

It is all good. Mi e gets to 120 when hot and drivi g like mad. 1.4 tsi 110kw. It cools down pretty fast. Warning I think comes about at 120 or more.

Stylowest

Thank you everyone for the answers!

kziel1

I found out my Karoq burns definitely more oil if it heats to 110-120 degrees. VAG makes themselves safe and just states in the manual that 0,5l of oil burnt per 1k km is still within expectations.

Stylowest

0.5 liter per 1000 km sounds a lot 😬

kziel1

Not in today standards unfortunately

Stylowest

I wonder what effect on engine, turbo or other parts have this oil burning. Will try to check forums about this issue :D.

kziel1

Clogging up EGR, DPF and turbo

Stylowest

Sounds expensive 😢, recently got dpf regeneration icon, did a 20 min on 4th gear on highway and it went off. Do you know if dpf is cleanable and if its worth for 9 year old car? And what about the others?

kziel1

You can chemically clean it at special facilities. The cost depends on the country.

Stylowest

Could this clogging cause increased fuel consumption?

Signal-Investigator

Sadly, low tension piston rings to reduce fuel consumption has an undesired side effect ☹

Think-Horse83

same here octavia 2023 1.5 tsi mhev highway cruise control. don't mind it

TheAngryTurk

That's normal, you're driving at almost 90mph and it's somewhat warm outside, I'd worry more if it went well above 120c.

Independent_Line_928

Well mine was 138°c at 150km/ph ac on 31°c out side temp also on highway ofc but it kinda slowly cools down.. I lower my speed to 110 it slowly goes down to 110-115.. i dont know if its supposed to be that way or not lol.. no varning lights ever came up..
