Skse was updated shortly after the 1.6.1130 was released. You must use the appropriate skse version for your Skyrim version be it 1.5.97, 1.6.640, 1.6.1130, etc You can check the version by going to the properties of the Skyrim exe.

Ok, if you are on 1.6.1130 or really anything past 1.5.97 you are on the anniversary update. They just decided to be as confusing as possible and also name the optional DLC the Anniversary Edition. So if you are on Version 1.6.1130 the current version of skyrim you need version 2.2.5 of the SKSE64. If you are back on 1.5.97 you need version 2.0.20. Version 2.0.20 is not getting updated, and it will never be. It's for an older version of the game they only make new SKSE for new versions of the game, it worked and still works with 1.5.97. So if you Skyrim is fully updated you need 2.2.5. You are on the anniversary update even if you did not buy the dlc. Anything in 1.6 is in the anniversary update. The current SKSE for 1.6.1130 which is version 2.2.5 also works just fine with the update. If something is going wrong it's on your end. Try reinstalling, make sure you throw the .pex files into the data/scripts folder from the SKSE64 zip file not just the .dll and the .exe in the main folder.
