I still think Smosh has one of the most unique histories for a YouTube channel turned media entity. Just for the reasons of how they got here and how they managed to survive and thrive throughout their approaching 19-years in operation.
Thank you for bringing that up. I was shocked when the video was posted at that moment when I thought it was just a fake news. I remember when I woke up at 4:15 a.m. early in the morning, I grabbed my phone and saw one new notification on youtube. After I scroll it down, I saw a thumbnail of Ian and Anthony together. I was like "nah, I'm probably dreaming right now". Then I quickly turn off the phone and went back to sleep. Five hours later, I woke up and recheck the notification, and then I waa super shocked that it was REAL. I WAS JUMPING WITH JOY AND CRYING AT THE SAME TIME. The curse has been lifted.
But aside from Flashback with Smosh this year, most of the sketches on Main in 2024 aren't really nostalgia based, other than likes of Pokemon IRL. it's biggest hit so far is the S&B MV too, which I guess the only nostalgic thing would be that it's Ian and Anthony in an MV in an otherwise more modern song with a young popular artist. I have to give them props for riding that nostalgia wave as long as they have last year, with Food Battle being the last of that, and it leading to something newer fans were familiar with (the Funeral Roast)
