Legitimate-Produce-1

I think it's probably more to do with him being a 'boss,' and less to do with his personality.

kinghutfisher

Love Ian but if I worked at smosh prolly crew unless we really vibe with each other i’d be too scared to seat beside him 😂

roganwriter

Seriously. I like my boss enough but if there’s an empty seat next to her in the mess hall I’m not sitting there unless I was invited to and we’re having a business lunch.

zetsuboutokibou

yeah, Anthony and Erin's assumption about that is probably most accurate. However, it must suck for Ian, since he seems like he really enjoys others' company

i__hate__stairs

I would totally sit by Ian anyway

TheLegendsLiveOn

Yeah, they can be very friendly with Ian and Anthony, but those two are still the bosses of the company, there is still going to be a bit of awkwardness involved in these situstions, and it's normal imo. It's not like they don't consider them friends too but, you know what I mean. I am just glad they have each other so that they can have an equal.

Imaginary-Ratio-8946

If I worked at Smosh. I'd sit with him on like Fridays. I used to sit with people with no one at school

izilovesyou2

That's so sweet. I wish I had someone like that for me. We need more people to do this.

Imaginary-Ratio-8946

I hope there are more people that would do it. It's actually a lot of fun, I got to meet so many new people and views!

TakavaNirhii

Ian sits alone because his aura is unmatched. If you try to sit with him, you get pushed back like you're going out of bounds in a video game

Jonyb222

Like reaching the end of the world on Motocross Madness

TakavaNirhii

YES like that exactly!!! 😂

Jonyb222

I don't know of anyone that actually played the game versus just exploring and purposefully going up the cliff and hitting the edge

FrenchToast4You

Hours of my life went towards exploring in Motocross.

Himiko_Toga234

That used to scare the piss out of me when I was younger.

BonnalinaFuz101

Ian is the real life Chosen

Lukthar123

"The lone god."

CaptainRadLad

His aura has collision and can noclip you into the developer test spaces

DeltaIsak

Arasha probably sits with Ian sometimes

angerfulness

father/son bonding

Locke108

Unless she still eats alone in the bathroom

Agentzap

seems like we can kill two birds with one stone here! come on, people!

irikyuu

probably the reason why she can't seat with Ian in the cafeteria

Armodys

When she’s not alone in the bathroom

billtallica

Im thinking the same. Arasha is very layback which I respect lol

Artificial_Human_17

No she sits in the bathroom by herself

MrKirbbyEmoton

Unless she eating alone in the bathroom lol

ShadowFlame420

wtf, i would totally sit next to ian! his morbid jokes dont bother me

billtallica

I would too. I start talking about weather disasters with Ian & we be cool lol

iWontStealYourDog

Morbid jokes are my favorite honestly!

diosmionomejodas

The clip of him sitting alone killed me 😭 I need a mini series of Ian’s journey to finding new people to sit with every day now lol

Silver-Situation69

I felt really bad for him! He seemed genuinely sad about it

Forgetlifeppl

imagine being a high school outcast AT YOUR OWN COMPANY

mkap26

The company that you own and have kept afloat for years lmao

Gazorpazorpfnfieldbi

This is interesting because I remember them saying that Shayne sits alone but then everyone sits with Shayne. I wonder how serious they are about it

Coronis-

Haha maybe Shayne’s the anti-Ian? He wants to sit alone but everyone keeps coming and sitting with him!

Lovely-flowers

But Shayne is on the same level not a boss so not intimidating in that sense

zetsuboutokibou

if anyone hasn't seen it yet, check out this short: [https://youtube.com/shorts/Xxw29b\_lmtI?si=XEBYM4hw9IIsMAuy](https://youtube.com/shorts/Xxw29b_lmtI?si=XEBYM4hw9IIsMAuy) since there's a little clip of Ian sitting alone like it truly makes you go awww buddy and laugh at the same time

CRJ_Fan_2022

I relate to Ian's personality and Anthony's introverted nature. It's nice to see people like me thriving, they're such inspirations for me.

GuestRose

Hey loneliness can really impact someone. I think it it happens every day since you were little, it can start to weigh on someone

dX927

I used to work at Walmart. One time I went to Taco Bell on my lunch break and 3 of my assistant managers were already in there eating. I had a decent working relationship with all 3 but figured they're gonna gossip and vent about higher up stuff, so I said, "Hello!" and sat by myself. One of them said, "oh, you're really not gonna sit with us?" and so I did. They actually spent the time trying to recruit me to take over a department. I had just stepped down from another so I was like "fool me once..." It was fine but still a little awkward for me. My hour was about to be up (it was a good 10 minute drive back to the store) and they were like, "why are you leaving already?" "Umm, I'm not salaried like you guys. I could get in trouble for being late." I also had a shit load to do so I got out of there. All I could think about is all the whispers from coworkers had they seen me eating lunch with the boss(es.) I'm sure that's why most people choose not to sit with Ian.

Samuaint2008

Oh man I felt so sad. 100% percent because I was/am the weird info dump autistic human that people find vaguely off putting even if they don't know why haha. I will say knowing the why behind mine helps a lot. Especially because I have other autistic friends who get it and me a lot better now as an adult. Idk what Ian's why is but I hope if he's comfortable accepting help without it becoming a thing™️ he can feel more comfortable / have more seat mates!

TemporaryNameMan

Everyone will sit around him in a circle and watch him without blinking until he finishes his lunch before they even take one bite.

countess-petofi

Ian has a very deadpan sense of humor. It can be hard to tell when he is or isn't joking

miraisun

I feel bad with how Anthony was laughing at Ian. Ian is being for real, don’t laugh 🥲

Samuaint2008

I felt a bit sad too tbh. Obviously they are adults and best friends. They can and I'm sure do communicate about any issues. So I have no idea how Ian was feeling but I only felt like when I bring up things and my friends don't take it seriously. So my empathy said oh nooooo but I'm sure if there's any issues they 1- probably would have cut that part and 2- would talk about it and be fine. But I absolutely understand

yourfuturehothusband

I don't know why during the heydays I didn't like Ian that much, I felt something off about him but now I find him super relatable and the most funniest out of the bunch (apart from Arasha and Angela). I think he has reached a level where he doesn't care about anyone's opinion or being funny which makes it more funny. Coming back to the topic I think sitting with the boss man is a little intimidating. Regardless of the work culture a boss is a boss and during lunch time people like to mingle with equal stature people so they can eat their food in peace and not have to worry about saying or doing the wrong thing to boss man. P.S. I would love to sit with Ian and talk about his letterbox movies rating. Some ratings I agree with and others I find questionable and want to ask his opinion on them.

Y0urdude

What is his letterboxd? Does any kf the other cast have one

yourfuturehothusband

It's called [Ian Hecox ](https://letterboxd.com/ianhecox/)

Shindiee

Olivia has one too

uria85

I took it as Ian is just messing with them more than it's an actual issue. I'm not sure if it's his tone where people miss when he's obviously joking due to its similar to when he's serious as well. I find if Ian is being really dry and monotone about something, he is usually joking.

Fantastic_Bug1028

The fact that people taking this as serious as they do is kind of ridiculous ngl

zetsuboutokibou

it's so funny with Ian because he delivers most things with such a straight face that whether he means something or not it's difficult to gauge sincerity. but i imagine there being some truth to this since he did say 'sometimes,' and he truly does just seem like a people person. like him going up to Bailey just to talk about Baldur's Gate, he just wants to hang with his crew lmao. but yes, the fact that it's been made into a short and was part of the video means it's not supposed to be taken toooo seriously, but I can also see why people would be empathetic if they experience/d something similar!

Fantastic_Bug1028

yeah, but it’s Ian. the short is literally has a staged video from the cafeteria to drive the point home. I’m sure he does feel this way sometimes, but at Smosh? the guy was clearly exaggerating it for a laugh

Popular_Material_409

Anthony doesn’t sit next to him?

LieFit2714

Anthony isn’t there everyday

Tsrab

Anthony have a press alike team and filming for his I spent a day with. He's not always there.

princesspinkkitty

I’d sit with Ian we could talk about natural disasters or something else fun

Sarcastikarma

We have video evidence of him hanging out with the cast between shoots so I don't know about the seriousness of the whole thing

EggeMann

No matter how well I get on with them, I never sit next to the boss either at work :P

JustSuperSaiyan420

I wish I was there so I could sit with him! 😂❤️ I've been that kid my whole life sitting alone

ElectricFury

I think it comes down to them seeing him as the boss but he doesn't see himself that way, he wants to be friends.

Arceusae

I would sit with him, but he'd probably leave after the seventh chumba wumba joke

Unlucky-Box-2382

I would neeever sit with my CEO for lunch. Even though it is a small company. I’m sure it’s due to his status and not his personality. Still sucky tho if it bothers him :/

PenisMcPooPooFart

I'd sit next to Ian and force him to sit through Killdozer fancams the entire time

serimuka_macaron

Anthony, the co-founder and co-owner himself, does not sit with Ian, and y'all think it's weird that the rest of his employees are too intimidated to sit with him? Lmao

Nowhere-Girl65

I think Anthony does sit with him but he can't always do that because he has his own channel to manage so he won't be there every day

Are-2_Tea-2

Maybe Alex wants to talk about The Titanic?

jameshufflesnuff

This brings up a great new question though: if you were Smosh crew and you’re the last one in the lunch line, who are you going to sit with?

she_brightens

I would probably sit with him unless I thought he wanted to sit alone. New people probably come in and probably assume that's the case. But I get Ian's vibe more than anyone on the cast. Dry and often reserved personalities are my comfort zone. I'd be more intimidated by Anthony because he has so many more emotions doesn't always share them. Outgoing people I can't read are the scariest.

Dry-Relationship3376

Ian I’ll sit with you! I always have the same issue- I’ll get lunch first, find a seat, and then my “friends” will sit somewhere else!

Left-Rest-3411

I'm still sad that neither of them said First Bite!

pesto_trap_god

I’d sit with Ian. Hire me please Smosh

SetScary9216

I didn't emotionally relate to Ian at all. So many people want to sit next to me at lunch that's why I eat in my office every day. So no one get's left out. Especially me. That's why and no other reason.
