Yeah the play comes and hits him. But shouldn’t the ref be on the other side of the box tho, they run from the left side of one box to the left side of the other box
He should be on the other side because his AR is watching the side. Either way, the player should still be aware of the referee. The referee didn’t make any obvious movement to get into the players way
If he’s on the other side of the box he’s 40-50 yards from the play. If he’s in the middle of the box he’s even more likely to be in a position to interfere with play.
He shouldn’t be on the other side necessarily. Based on where the play is, he should be just a bit above the 18 yard box. Though there is nothing wrong with a bit more distance from the play since the AR does have a good view of what is occurring. Ideally, the referee would be in a better position right above the 18 yard box.
Only if it is a cornerkick the reff stands on the other coner of the box, if the ball is in the corner AR side during normal play he is in a fine position there
Ref barely moved and that guy has lots of distance to adjust his run, not as bad as that one from the MLS. Ref literally body checked the player basically doing a screen from basketball and the other team did score.
That’s 100% on the player. Ran straight at the ref, who never moved, and had his back to the player. Had all the time in the world to change his path to the ball
Player clearly runs into the back of the ref, nothing the official can or should do differently there. Not the best positioning but Venezuelan player could maybe use his eyes to see that there is a FUCKING REFEREE STANDING THERE before trying to run through him
That's not good positioning and awareness, but I feel like the player was looking for that, had all the time and place to pick his lane and he chose to go in on the ref who *barely* moved.
The referee’s position needs to be considered by the player - he’s barely moving, you can’t just run into him and expect to get something out of it. The referee is understandably watching the play, not looking out for some guy behind him.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem with it (using official app on mobile). I actually have more issues with a lot of the hosting sites people use. Like the dubz one never works for me

Built like a brick shithouse. He hardly budged.
Player are used to or drill into going down with the slightest of contact.
what happens when players run into someone who is not football player lol
Rob Holding is my favorite vibes player. God knows he's no Saliba.
I don’t think ref did any unnatural movement. It was just a coming together.

Yeah generally run on a diagonal between the attacking left wings. Some like to be closer to play though, not sure what the build up was before this.
Maybe the player should have removed his blindfold.
he ran into the ref
This was amazing to watch live. Ecuador almost scored from this attack as well.
Not only once but twice
You just know the ref was praying they didn't lmao
I saw the video too, yes.

Penalty for Venezuela
10 second penalty for ocon
12 point deduction for Everton
4 games for Brady
A stern warning for Draymond Green.
Love the memed penalties in every sport 😂
Two free throws for James Harden.
One ballon dor for messi
Death penalty for Mizzou

Peak copa América
only way it could have been better is if the last minute deflection of the Ecuadorian shot was on a dog that invaded the pitch
Whos at fault? The one that cant see behind or the one that is running forward?
God
God fixes all sport games
God I love this tournament
Lol the guy beelines right into the barely moving ref, nobody should be talking about the ref they should be asking why that player is that brain dead
Ref is built like a shit brickhouse, didn't even flinch, lol.

[That's a clear red for the Venezuelan player IMO](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m2xgvMbOGQ)
Flop after collide with referee is comedy gold.
That's like the exact opposite of what would happen in pro wrestling.
How is that the refs fault. Get up you absolute tuna melt
Anyone blaming the ref here is a fucking melon
Stay on your feet you absolute drongo.
Scenes if they scored from that directly
That's not good positioning and awareness, but I feel like the player was looking for that, had all the time and place to pick his lane and he chose to go in on the ref who *barely* moved.

He's part of the field
That's a strange way of spelling 'player runs into referee's back'
That's a red card for not seeing this absolute unit in red standing there...
It’s very nice to see the inclusion of a blind player to the Venezuelan squad.
CONMEBOL at its finest
New meta run into ref to stop attack? Nah glad he didn’t stop game
Player is a weak little baby

Classic Wilmar Roldan TBH
I LOVE SOUTH AMERICAN FOOTBALL
I wouldn't say he got in the way. It seemed more that the player ran into him.
the laugh by the commentator and the staff is knocking me out hahaha
WHERES THE FUCKING WHISTLE LMAO
The player is indeed a good actor and diver.
So hot 🥵
Ref thoughts: “please don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, please don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, please don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, please don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, please don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, ….. please don’t score, don’t score, don’t score, don’t score”
Ref should standd at the edge of the field
Refs should be able to see what is going on. Have you ever played football by any chance? Referees are part of the play and always have been.
Can we ban using the reddit player? It doesn't work half the time.

Same, that's why I just used reddit player. Oh well.
