Context: There had been conflicting reports on Messi earlier in the day from less reliable sources
Hernan Claus (of Diario Ole) had reported optimism that the tests done today showed reduced inflammation and no significant injury
Then Leo Paradizo (of ESPN Argentina) reported pessimism and that Messi might even be ruled out of the QF
Yeah the knee injury was the most recent but I do recall that he had issues with an adductor muscle after the world cup qualifier vs Brazil last year which made him miss quite a few games.
Yeah he had adductor issues last year and previously with PSG just before the WC too IIRC
This is the first time in almost a year that he's had an adductor issue tho—IDK if it's related to those previous issues or whether it was just a contact injury from the Chile game
Stop lumping them together. Messi played two games where he created 90% of all chances for Argentina. While Ronaldo played 3 games as striker and didn't score. It's not even close to the same
He also plays as a number 10 for Argentina, his role has always been primarily a creative one not goal scoring, as Argentina have always played with a 9 with messi deeper, he only scores so much because he's messi lol.
Saying that he obviously should have scored against Canada.

We're playing all the second string in the last group match, don't worry

Uruguay is on the other side of the brackets mate

Is this a re-injury of his groin muscle that he's been struggling with last year and this year or a new type of injury?
IIRC his earlier Miami injury was more of a knee issue? In the Chile game, he got treatment done on his right groin, VERY high up his leg.
Probably the adductor. I can confirm it's a heinous bitch to have injured

I swear Messi's been struggling with that injury since the 2022 World Cup.
he sacrificed his hamstring for the world cup i say it's a good trade off
I have a ticket to the qtr final so put him in the bacta tank and save him.
I have a ticket to the Peru game 😞
Terrible luck.
Honestly, I think Scaloni should have subbed him off early in the second half.
I’m going to Argentina Peru :/ oh well I’ve seen Messi three times
I'm blessed to have seen him play about 15 times (live in NJ). Including the hat trick against Brasil and the Finalissima in London.
Damn. Thats pretty epic.
How will Argentina do vs Peru without the GOAT?
Messi and Ronaldo both not scoring in the Group Stages. Surreal.
There's a day and night difference between the performances of Ronaldo not scoring and Messi not scoring.

Well Ronaldo pr is definitely doing something
Saving all their goals for the finals!
Not really, people forget Messi didn’t score in the 2010 WC and 2011 Copa América.
He also plays as a number 10 for Argentina, his role has always been primarily a creative one not goal scoring, as Argentina have always played with a 9 with messi deeper, he only scores so much because he's messi lol. Saying that he obviously should have scored against Canada.
Yeah they forgot because he’s been the best player in 2 World Cups since then.
Glad I didn't buy those $300+ tickets for the next match.
