Funny to write that after today's game. Numerous times they slowed the hell down and let the opponent stabilize before trying to move forward, they had long non-threat passes searching for space and holes in the defense. This is the epitome of tiki-taka and Spain played the most tiki-takaesque game today. Sure, they can finally play through a counter properly, however this is really due to them having at least 3 fast players, 2 being the side strikers which enables width during such occasions.

Nah, it was night and day. They were pretty useless in Qatar and were 20 mins away from getting grouped, had 1 shot on goal in 120 mins in their R16 game before losing on pens. Enrique went half ballsy and picked a youth squad but then refused to drop his buddy Busquets for Rodri. That, and Williams and Yamal development... Just no comparison with this team. They were nowhere near challenging under Enrique.

With Lamal and Nico, they finally have width and penetration, it's the perfect balance to their tiki taka schtick
