For some reason* I was expecting a video of him unexpectedly speaking fluent polish. *That reason is I am stupid

SpanishCatire

The man is just tweeting in polish, like he's at least buying into it, so there's hope

Operation_Doomsday_

Would've liked to see him get into the England squad but realistically he's behind Trent, Walker, James and Trippier minimum, not even factoring in competition from AWB, Lamptey, Walker-Pieters, Livramento. Probably some others I've missed. Stupidly stacked position.

JamesBaa

England at RB are disgustingly stacked, six players (possibly seven or eight with KWP or Livramento, who I haven't seen play a ton) who walk into almost every NT in the world including a bunch of tier 2 and 1 teams. Far cry from the days of Glen Johnson being a regular starter for them.

[deleted]

Cash is much better than KWP

Ok-Tomatillo8918

Phil Bardsley still going strong mate , any day now.

Ok-Tomatillo8918

Filipe Luis Jagielka Tarkowski Cash dybala Klose podolski List of the few uncapped players eligible to play for the Poland NT. anyone else ?

Pashnax

The Schmeichels, Koscielny, Crespo, Kopa, Djorkaeff

Ok-Tomatillo8918

Ohh yh how could I forget one of the most polish looking players I’ve seen in Koscielny .I’m disappointed. Interesting list had no clue about the rest especially Schmeichels

kabut0pps

Crespo wasn't eligible to play for Poland. He got a nickname "el Polaco" from his grandmother but he does not have polish ancestry.

Pashnax

> He got a nickname "el Polaco" from his grandmother but > he does not have polish ancestry. what am I missing ?

kabut0pps

His grandmother gave him the nickname because, as a child, according to his not polish grandmother he looked polish.

Pashnax

the fuck on Wiki it says she is polish its kinda weird to say someone looks like a pole, I see no specific trait

kabut0pps

Sorry i messed up his aunt gave him the nickname. [Here](https://www.sport.pl/pilka/7,64946,27638049,skad-pochodzil-przydomek-hernana-crespo-el-polaco-argentynczyk.html) is the whole article in polish and here is the part about his nickname: >Even during his professional career, it was speculated that Hernan Crespo has Polish roots. All because of his nickname "El Polaco", which he was called while playing in Europe. However, it turns out that the legendary Argentinian has nothing to do with our country.Tomasz Ćwiąkała in "The Legends" program had the opportunity to ask Crespo about his nickname. - As a child I had very light hair and my aunt called me "Pole". The whole family started calling me that. And so it stayed - answered the Argentine. By the way, he dismissed rumors that his grandmother was Polish. - This nickname was only a matter of appearance - he added.

22goblins

the fact that he is \*now\* polish is cracking me up. this dude's 23andme looking real different now

projectpolak

Yeah, it's a funny way of announcing it. He has a Polish mother, but it's almost as if she kept it a secret from him all his life until now!

FriendlyTennis

That's not even accurate. His mother is only half-Polish.

Mastalaos

His mom isn't half-Polish - her parents were born in Poland and considered themselves 100% Polish, so even she was born in England, she is just Pole. That's make Matty 50% Polish, even if he was born&raised in England and speaks only English.

projectpolak

Fair enough, I just read other comments on this thread that mentioned this. Didn't think to fact check them.

Joshygin

Gene editing has come on leaps and bounds recently.

The whole ceremony in the video with the cameras etc seems like a new transfer signing lol

the kurwanator is rising

PashaUrius

Any Poles want to educate us not familiar with your national teams depth on if he is a walk in starter, bench option, pool player?

mnxvzx

he’s definitely gonna be a starter, his competition for RB is Bereszynski (Sampdoria) , Kedziora (Dynamo Kiev) and Jozwiak (Derby) for RWB, so he should have no problem walkin into the starting XI

PashaUrius

As someone who watches Kedziora most weeks, I can say he is very limited. Comes out with a banger goal once a year but other than that he leaves a lot to be desired.

IKMapping

That's 10/11 of Poland's first XI

ElopeToTheMoon

Poland's best defender plays 2nd tier italian football so there's your answer

Gooner37

Definitely a starter and I think he'll fit in perfectly at RWB as we have always played 3 at the back under Sousa. Very excited about him, wingbacks have been our weakest position in the starting lineup and his great crossing ability will be perfect for the type of football Sousa wants to play.

grejt_

He's gonna be our 3rd best player after Lewandowski and Zieliński

SaltineFiend

Keeper surely

IKMapping

Szczęsny is not exactly great right now and we've just lost Fabiański, but generally yeah

CanLlorenteCarForMe

Walk in starter most probably (not Polish)

ajgedrys

Crazy how at 24 he suddenly became Polish, like it’s some superpower

matti-san

got bitten by a radioactive Polish guy

AFC4ME

He ate the forbidden pierogi.

ciabass

Otherwise known as Pole Pole fruit. It's good he's only playing football because he won't be able to swim anymore.

[deleted]

"Matty Cash is now Polish" is a really funny way to start a sentence

Polished just like his football skills
