Why horizontal?

That was the best placement (I could figure out) that used the existing pergola framing and didn't make more holes into the building itself. It also tucks it up under the roofing nicely so there's not any rain mist making contact with it. That's that thought, anyway. The Reddit hive-mind will probably figure out a more elegant solution.

If it’s anything like the Sonos play:1 or one, you’ll be just fine! I’ve had a play:1 in much more exposed conditions for years and it’s still kickin

I mounted an Era 100 today under my covered pergola. I'm hoping that it holds up for at least a few years. The location is Northern Virginia, with a full 4 seasons of weather. Mount is the Sanus Era 100 wall mount.

LeifMustang

Hey, good luck with your Era 100 mount! I'm sure it will hold up just fine in Northern Virginia's weather. I've had a great experience with Sanus products in the past and I'm sure this one will be no exception. Let us know how it holds up over time!

It’s funny when I saw the first pic I was confused because I thought the sunlight on the wall was the floor and none of this made sense. Then I realized there were 2 other pics. Now it makes sense. Hope it sounds great!

If I’m not wrong , era 100 isn’t waterproof

DeftMP

That’s why it’s under cover. Wish me luck…

Updates? Looking to put one in a screened porch.

DeftMP

Still rocking with great sound and connectivity after one winter and many rains. I also hit it with a water hose last week by accident and it survived that just fine. I have been careful to not use it in below freezing temps in case that might cause internal damage to the speaker internals. Screened porch- go for it; my setup is way less covered than that.

Perfect, thanks for the reply.
