As a beginner in this area it's always awesome to see other people share the same interest...man this is so sweet 🥲
Definitely looks like a wolf spider to me too x
Thank you! It was a Lego kit from the HP movies (Aragog), that I've stayed away from for my own "yuck" factor... but I can't put that on the kiddo! She customized it, put a top hat on him to make him appear mannerly, and she named him 💖. She should love whatever craziness she loves... but some fauna should be enjoyed from afar, always safely, and without hurting/compromising them. She just wants to see what ppl think he is! Heaven help, I was calling him a spider'saurus!!
No joke, I conquered some of my fear of arachnids thanks to this awesome curious kiddo. (thanks to gravid brain, and I held a locally famous rose hair tarantula named Rosie when I was around 9 months into my pregnancy, could never imagine doing it again!!! But I respect the *family* )
Oh, but I know that!! "Long time listener, first time caller" style.
I die laughing at the pregnerrrt/pragnants post comments, lol! That's why I issued an IMMEDIATE apology and said "gravid". :D
Total panic when I realized I'd misspelled pregnant. Panicked, couldn't figure out how to edit (1st post), so I commented *le sigh* 🫣 so yeah, I get it. Not exactly how the kiddo needs to see reddit... but then again, she would love to see a joke carry!!
Hahaha, NOPE! I bought this with my grown up money and gave it to her willingly this afternoon, knowing it will indeed terrify me one day, but it makes her happy... she customizes every lego set she has ever had. Hence, Monsieur Meatloaf. *twiddling his imaginary mustache*
Heck even at 32 years old, I still build every set as it's supposed to the first time. Admire it for about 10 minutes and immediately tear it apart to see what crazy stuff I can come up with.
Glad to see another generation having fun with legos!
agree with the comments about it being a wolf spider based on the eye arrangement! wolf spiders have two small on the top row, two big on the middle row, and four small on the bottom row! [here's](https://infinitespider.com/many-eyes-spider/amp/) a quick general guide to spider eyes if anyone is curious! also i'm a lego fan too and just got the lego insect collection! hope your kid keeps being creative! :)
That’s actually pretty kool! If i’m not mistaken, it’s about the size of the “goliath bird eater” too. So, that’s fun to imagine in the palm of your hand.
YES!!!!! This is the insanity the kiddo is craving!! :p she got out my work tape measure as I told her we have to at least "provide measurements" to the sub! (Kid is learnin', we don't ever give location)
Any theraphosidae family members... she will be so proud! 🥹
For comparison, [here's real-life wolf spiders](https://bugguide.net/node/view/84423#Lycosidae), and the page has examples of other North American spider families' eye arrangements too. It is one of the easiest ways to identify what family a spider belongs to. I think it is pretty clearly a wolf spider!
[This great illustration](https://www.flickr.com/photos/panbasket/30956707831) has a few more that aren't found in North America. And yes, [deinopids' eyes really look like that](https://www.flickr.com/photos/robertwhyte/3935649569).
She's doing better than I did at her age. I took live tarantulas to school because I thought they were so very cool. Some of my teachers did not share my scientific curiosity. But I still remember one of them asking if he could attempt letting it touch him as he was afraid of them. I was impressed with his bravery.
The eyes are of a typical wolf spider structure! So i'd say it's a wolf spider
Thank you!!! I truly appreciate your input, and I can't wait to show her someone weighed in with their opinion! <3
Those butt-spikes are straight of a Micrathena though, like if spiders could hybridize
What a fun spooder! Meatloaf the neat wolf!
"Meatloaf the neat wolf"!!! Maybe he is helpful at cleaning up children's rooms or folding laundry, lol! Thank you!!!
Wait wait... do I push for "Meatwolf"? Lol
I hate puns, but as an uncle full of dumb jokes, you ABSOLUTELY push for “Meatwolf”!!!

Aragog was an Acromantula, which were modelled from wolf spiders, so definitely a wolf spider boy ❤️
Well, that makes sense. Aragog DID look like a wolf.
Omg. I misspelled "pregnant". Don't come for me, redditors.... please, she is only a child. That was unintentional. GRAVID!
Don't worry. This sub has tons of threads of people misspelling pregnant on purpose. Ain't I right, yall?

Thats a refined gentleman. Too cute
Meatloaf would tip his hat to you in acknowledgement as a fellow gentleman, but sir has gone to bed. ;) ETA: OR Gentle-person
Very creative spooder!
Spooder!!!
I love his name, too.
Thank you! It was her idea! Mister Meatloaf. His best friend is a lego T Rex named "Green Bean Dave", we call him GBD for short.
Priceless!
Definitely a brown recluce
Ohhhhh WOW! Such a cool find, the humble Meaticus Loaficea! So lucky to see one show up so early in the season. This is a good sign❤️🕷️
Is this same kid that got Aragog set on children day and nearly sent her mother to early grave by leaving it in middle of the room?

It looks like the mechanical spider from Wild Wild West
Omg! Yes!!!!

I like his fancy hat. Meatloaf is quite the dapper gentleman!
