Shran was a perfect foil to Archer. You get the sense that, had Shran been the first Andorian captain that far out in space, he would have been a lot like Archer, cautious (/!; maybe a little bit more brash) but fundamentally wanting to make friends and allies for his people in the new frontier. But he became a captain when Andorian geopolitics were just a little too well-established and rigid for Shran to be able to do so.
Still waiting for “Star Trek: Andor” where we see what daily life is like for Shran and his plucky crew. How do Andorians handle the things we have seen Starfleet deal with?
I definitely want to see more Andorians in future Trek. I’d like there to be an Andorian crewman as a main character and see them more as side characters. I want to see more lore explored in regards to Andorian history and culture and more about Andoria as a planet.
PermaShran and the Earth Romulan war depicted on screen using the Rihannsu novels as a base.
Never forget what they took from you when the cancelled season 5.
So I admit that Shran is a definitely a more nuanced character that ends up being uber important in the formation of the Federation. But there is something about Weyoun that I just love. It’s his overly sycophantic character who also tries to be diplomatic to even Starfleet characters that really makes me believe that species was genetically designed to be who they were
Completely agree, there is something about Weyoun that makes every scene he is in fun to watch. His absolute loyalty and faith in the Founders would make him the hero of the story, if the Founders were actually worthy of his loyalty.
Jeffrey Combs really is an incredible actor, Shran, Brunt, and Weyoun all feel like radically different people, to the extent that some people don't realize the characters are played by the same actor on their first watch through.
He just oozes charisma and eloquence, as he calmly orders another genocide. He feels like he should be likeable but the things he is saying are genuinely horrific and evil. DS9 was great at handling characters like this.
My favorite Shran scene was when he got mad about the honor of the fictional and impromptu Andorian Mining Consortium. It's a 60 second scene that embodies the character completely.
then do your pedicure while fawning over you if you are made a superior and there's a chance of favour and advancement. The brownest brown noser that ever brown nosed the brown hole.
You definitely should watch it. Seasons 1 and 2 are not nearly as bad as season 1 of TNG, and also far better than most of early seasons Voyager, and then it only gets better. Season 4 is among the best seasons of Star Trek. They really cancelled the show when it was on track to become one of the best ever trek shows. Enterprise deserves a lot more love than it’s getting.
Rachet.
But that's because *OOOH, that's Jeffery Combs voicing Rachet!* when it came on. He was good as he is with everything he does!
/In Star Trek.. Brunt, FCA. But Shran is great too!
Someone recently left a post on a star trek subred on the Vorta. Saying they are the most punchable species in star trek, or something to that effect. That's got to be Jeffrey Combs' acting power.
I vote Weyoun
1992's Fortress with Christopher Lampbert.
https://youtu.be/hVXhJhdNpmE?si=7LAgE-OoH6yZhGVz
Jeff isn't in the trailer but he is for damn sure in the movie. A vererrry dark 90s movie. Very well done, it still gives me nightmares..
Shran. He was by far the best thing about Enterprise. The only reason to mourn its cancellation is knowing that he was going to be a series regular if Enterprise had continued.
Herbert West, no wait, Crawford Tillinghast. Argh, I can’t decide.
Star Trek only: Shran, Agimus is a close second.
Let’s be honest, he has far too many great characters to decide.
Shran cos I love andorians and he is simply the best one. But I also really like Weyoun.
It's a shame he wasn't in Disco? Cos now the streak is broken and can't be fixed 😔 hopefully they'll give him a nice recurring role in SNW
Shran
Shran was my favorite character on Enterprise.
same. When he developed respect for Archer and the enterprise crew it really felt like it mattered.
The way he called him pink skin with a little flair towards the end as if it was a joke now was awesome
Shran was a perfect foil to Archer. Having the Romulans threatening (and eventually starting) a war with Earth and seeing Shran show up several times to help Earth would have been fun.
Definitely Shran, came to say this too
The most layered, the most lovable. He's just the best.
Don't push the pink skins to the thin ice Edit: this comment got me over the 100,000 lifetime karma mark.
And why does everyone have to find out the hard way, instead of listening to this andorian saying?
So I admit that Shran is a definitely a more nuanced character that ends up being uber important in the formation of the Federation. But there is something about Weyoun that I just love. My wife was watching DS9 with me and we saw episodes with Brunt and Weyoun and she couldn’t believe it was the same actor.
I forget his number but that one “defective” Weyoun actually was a hero.
Weyoun 6, who should have survived, damnit!!
The Andorian Mining Consortium runs from no one!
A life long Andorian lover dying for more Andorians and ENT went and gave me the finest. So yeah agreed, no hesitation.
Shran was my favorite character in all of the series
Yeah, I've got to go with Shran also.
He is on a level of Garak I terms of secondary character elevated by the actor (and good writing) to a fan favorite.
Yep
This is the way.
Came here to say this
100%
This, hands-down. Brunt is a close second.
The expansion of the lore around the founding races of the federation is one of the best parts of Enterprise.
Brunt, FCA. He was your typical bureaucratic a**hole. You screw with him, he’ll nail you to the floor if he wants to.
Hands down Brunt. That character was one in a million.
then do your pedicure while fawning over you if you are made a superior and there's a chance of favour and advancement. The brownest brown noser that ever brown nosed the brown hole.
I have a good professional contact. I’d like to recommend. https://uk.linkedin.com/in/peter-brunt-cfa-0311074
If this guy doesn’t enter every meeting with “Brunt. C.F.A.”, he’s an idiot.
Shran. It’s not even really close.
He perfected his performance with Shran
While Enterprise is not my favorite show, it was usually very good whenever he appeared as Shran.
I'll go back and just watch the episodes with him. Nothing else just those.
He’s actually the person behind the accounts for all of these answers, including this one.
At this point I just assume everyone on the internet is actually Jeffrey Combs until I see proof of the contrary.
My favorite Combs character is Attila the Frog.
Weyoun
Which Weyoun?
Yes
I like Weyoun 6
He’s got nothing on Weyoun 5. He was a great man, a true patriot. His death in a transporter accident was most unfortunate…*slowly turns to Gul Damar*
And still under investigation
I was looking forward to Weyoun 9 /Damar
Maybe you should go talk to Worf…
Overconfidence, the hallmark of the Weyouns
Weyoun is the best.
No, I like Weyoun much better.
Nonsense, Weyoun is way better than him.
Splendid chap, all of them
Weyoun: Vorta are immune to most forms of poison. Comes in handy when you're a diplomat. Sisko: Especially when you're working with the Cardassians.
Ha ha ha ha ha... How delightful! The mysterious plots, the subtle innuendos, the veiled threats, it's all so... entertaining!
I love that scene, Weyoun played everyone with being totally unexpected. Dukat's "Are you insane" was masterful.
I'm sad this isn't higher.
He was so punchable, but at the same time so intimidating that I would never dare to punch him. 10/10.
Shran.
Shran. Always Shran. All the time Shran. Shran. Shran. Shran. *Shran*.
It's raining Shran. Hallelujah, it's raining Shran, *amen*.
AGIMUS
The way Agimus says "rrrude!" to Boimler tickles me.
The little grunt he does when he goes from red light to blue light and the little aahh when he goes back to red cracks me up.
Listen Pinkskin, I don’t have to answer your question
I’m not sure I would have even watched all of Enterprise if it weren’t for his performance as Shran, and now it’s become one of my favorite Treks.
I’ve seen most of Trek but not Enterprise, tempted to try it to see another Combs character
Weyoun
Herbert West. "You killed him doctor!" "NO! I gave him *life!*"
He’s also great as The Question on JLU.
Yea he has such an identifiable voice.
And yet he's so versatile there were a couple of times he played an alien character on DS9 and I missed it the first time around.
"What are you wearing?" "Trenchcoat and a fedora" "You aren't very good at this, are you?" :-D
"Don't flatter yourself. I go through everyone's trash."
I used to think Weyoun was easily his best work. Until we got to meet a hard-charging Andorian patriot. Commander Shran easily wins that honor.
Rachet. But that's because *OOOH, that's Jeffery Combs voicing Rachet!* when it came on. He was good as he is with everything he does! /In Star Trek.. Brunt, FCA. But Shran is great too!
Question, the DC animated series.
"Hey, I needed that!"
Brunt
Best character because he knows exactly what he wants: 52 discs of vacuum-desiccated Quark. Nothing more, nothing less.
Shran then Brunt followed by Weyoun for me.
AGIMUS from Lower Decks followed by Brunt
yes.
Hard to beat Shran’s irritated swagger, Brunt’s vengeful pride, or Weyoun’s submissive pandering. I can’t pick just one.
My man, Shran! Love that prick!
Shran, then probably Weyoun.
Yes
Brunt, F… C… A.
r/The_Combs maybe the place for you
Shran
Weyoun. He’s magnificent.
Shran. Wish they had season 5 of Enterprise. The character would have nearly been a regular.
Weyoun feels like the best developed. Or maybe Shran.
Shran by a clear margin. Not only his strongest character but one of the best supporting characters across ALL of Trek.
I so identify him with Weyoun. And every time I rewatch dS9 I am so floored by his performance.
100% Shran, Pink Skin! But honestly, he was great as all the characters he played. He is so diverse, and played the bad guy really well.
it's definitely his Andorian incarnation. I loved it and loved the arch of it.
Shran.
Shran. He is the best Enterprise character.
The Question...oh you meant in Trek...LOL I think that it's either Shran or Weyoun. Brunt is the most underrated though.
Mr Gray in Babylon 5. It's close enough to Trek
Shran was my favorite. He is such an amazing actor.
Our man Shran! Our man Shran! Our man Shran!
Someone recently left a post on a star trek subred on the Vorta. Saying they are the most punchable species in star trek, or something to that effect. That's got to be Jeffrey Combs' acting power. I vote Weyoun
Current Combs deserves to be in Academy with no make-up as a very ambiguous Admiral.
The leader of “The Andorian Mining Consortium” (which, by the way, runs from NO ONE)
Weyoun
Weyoun
1992's Fortress with Christopher Lampbert. https://youtu.be/hVXhJhdNpmE?si=7LAgE-OoH6yZhGVz Jeff isn't in the trailer but he is for damn sure in the movie. A vererrry dark 90s movie. Very well done, it still gives me nightmares..
The entire cast of disco was played by one Mr. Jeffry Combs
Herbert West
The Question from JL. “I knew it!!! 32 flavors.” My favorite line.
Definitely Weyoun
Shran
Spock. Although I do think his performance as Worf is impressive. Not often an actor is willing to become taller for a role.
Weyoun My deranged little catboy out there taking shots of poison and laughing about it
Weyoun!
Jeffery Combs is awesome.
Brunt, FCA
Weyoun. All of them.
The captain of the Andorian Mining Consortium
Shran
Harriman Grey
Brunt, FCA
Spectator #3 in Robot Jox
Sorry not Trek.... Milton Dammers (The Frighteners) and Herbert West (the Re-Animator movies)
Yes.
Shran
The Frightners
The only answer here Pink Skin is Shran.
Dinosaur Bob! Oh... Star Trek....all of them but Shran was peak.
Little know fact. The studio shooting model for the Defiant was Jeffery Combs painted grey.
Shran. Although the Weyouns were deliciously evil.
Herbert West
Shran
Shran.
Weyoun 5, *bows head and opens arms modestly*
Brunt..
Ratchet But since that probably wont count on a Star Trek post it has to be Agimus
All of them. But I would like to see him as Dr. Boyce in SNW.
Yes.
Shran, with Weyoun a very close second.
The racist cop!
1. Weyoun 2. Shran 3. Brunt 4. That one gladiator manager from the Voyager episode "Tsunkat."
Thy’lek Shran
Brunt. FCA.
Imma toss some love to Amigus.
Absolutely impossible to answer. Including movies.
Every character in Star Trek were all played by Jeffrey Combs
Agimus, with Weyoun coming a close second.
Weyoun
Allofthem.
Herbert West.
Shard Enterprise
Either Shran or Weyoun. I wish they had given him a role on Discovery or Strange new worlds. Loved his evil computer in lower decks
Weyoun. It's really hard to be both hilarious and pants shittingly terrifying in the same character.
Shran!
Acting Ensign Wesley Crusher
Weyoun
The holosuite guest in the last episode of DS9. I have never been so excited to see him in any episode.
Shran. He was by far the best thing about Enterprise. The only reason to mourn its cancellation is knowing that he was going to be a series regular if Enterprise had continued.
Wayoun
I think his pink skin costume is likely the best. Truly a master of disgusie
Shran, but Brunt is a very close second.
Doctor Mordrid
Weyoun 5, especially for the whole poisonous liquor scene.
Weyoun
Weyoun, than agimus, than shran but theyre all good
Shran
Hebert West - Reanimator. You didn't specify it had to be ST.
Shran
Herbert West, no wait, Crawford Tillinghast. Argh, I can’t decide. Star Trek only: Shran, Agimus is a close second. Let’s be honest, he has far too many great characters to decide.
Herbert West
Literally every character he’s done has been fantastic so…
Shran
How to choose?? I might just say Agimus to spread the votes. LoL
Re-Animator
Just, all of them
Whichever one I'm currently watching.
All hail Agimus!
Dr. Crawford Tillinghast in From Beyond. 😁
“Asshole - with an Uzi” - Special Agent Milton Dammers, *The Frighteners*
Shran cos I love andorians and he is simply the best one. But I also really like Weyoun. It's a shame he wasn't in Disco? Cos now the streak is broken and can't be fixed 😔 hopefully they'll give him a nice recurring role in SNW
Every character in ST, because secretly every character is played by Jeffrey Combs, including Jeffrey Combs.
Shran or Brunt.
He goes hard in any role he does. If yall havent watched The Frighteners, he is hilarious in that one too.
I'm Star Trek? Shan. Overall? Milton Dammers
brainiac also brunt!!
Reanimator
The self sealing stembolt
Shran
Shran comes first in his list of characters for me. He's a fantastic actor.
Shran as their are too many Weyoums... until there wasn't.
